α-Fe₂O₃ was accomplished by chemical method as low temperature as possible and the crystallographic and magnetic properties have been studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The sample heated at 150 ℃ is found to have a Corundums symmetry with the hexagonal lattice constant a=8.26±0.05Å, c=8.75±0.05Å. The Mossbauer spectra between the 4.2K and the room temperature show that the α-Fe₂O₃ crystalized with a single phase and fine sizes. The particle size distribution has the Gaussian distribution center at 98Å and the half width of 32Å.

Hovenia dulcis var. koreana Nakai has been reported to liver function improvement effect as functional materials for food and medicine. On these facts, biological activity and safety test were conducted to evaluate biological activities of the fruit petiole and root extracts of H. dulcis as a potential cosmeceutical ingredient. Cosmeceutica activities of different extracts were examined by l.l-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical generation, the ABTS+ cation decolorization, tyrosinase activity, collagenase activity and elastase activity compared with the properties of the commercial antioxidant butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and L-ascorbic acid(AA). The antioxidant activities HDFW, HDFE, HDRW and HDRE were 83.6%, 39.6%, 85.9% and 74.5% in DPPH assay, 99.5%, 13.7%, 96.4% and 88.6% in ABTS assay. Tyrosinase inhibitiory activities HDFW were 56.0% at 1,000 ppm. Measured the inhibition effect of the H. dulcis about collagenase and elastase where break the peptide bonds in collagen and enzyme from the class of proteases where exists in the dermis. The H. dulcis was inhibition the two kind enzymesm, collagenase activities being on a high scale inhibition, was same concentration. Uses the anti oxidation effect and a anti-wrinkle effect of this resultant H. dulcis and with the functional cosmetics use is thought with the fact that will be possible.
CoFe_2O_4 미세 입자의 초상자성 완화에 관한 연구

CoFe_2O_4를 sol-gel 방법으로 낮은 온도에서 열처리하여 합성하였다. 합성된 분말은 X-선 회절을 통하여 결정 형성을 확인하고, Mo¨ssbauer 분광법 등을 사용하여 자기적 성질을 연구하였다. 결정을 형성하면서도 가능한 입자 크기가 작은 조건을 찾은 결과 200℃에서 3시간 열처리하여 얻을 수 있었다. 시료의 결정구조는 cubic spinel 구조이며 미세 입자의 영향으로 인하여 선 폭이 증가함을 보였다. 4.2K에서부터 실내온도까지 여러 온도에서 Mo¨ssbauer spectrum을 측정. 분석한 결과 단일상의 결정이 확실히 이루어져있었고 온도에 따라 임계크기 이하의 입자에서 초상자성 현상을 나타내고 있는 것이 관측되었다. 입자의 크기는 대략 50Å을 중심으로 4.8Å의 반폭 치와 66Å을 중심으로 5.8Å의 반폭 치를 갖는 Gaussian 형태로 분포되어 있다. The Mo¨ssbauer spectra between the 4.2K and the room temperature show that CoF e_2O_4 crystallize with a single phase. The particle size distribution has the two Gaussian distribution centers at 50Å and 66Å of the half width 4.8Å and 5.8Å respectively.
Rainbow Power Therapy의 경항통에 대한 효과

Objective: This study was designed to estimate the effects of Rainbow Power therapy on neck pain patients by using Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and pressure algometer. Methods: Rainbow Power therapy group consisted of 18 patients and acupuncture therapy group consisted of 7 patients. The degree of improvement of neck pain was evaluated by VAS and pain pressure threshold(at the points of Jianjing GB21 and Jianwaishu SI14) before treatment, before 3rd treatment and before 5th treatment. Rainbow Power therapy was performed at the points of Jianjing GB21, Zhongfu LU1, Yangxi LI5, Ganshu BL18, Weishu BL21 and Shenshu, BL23. Each points were stimulated with RP-UM103(Rainbow Power therapy instrument) for 20 seconds. The points of acupuncture therapy were Jeonggeun, Jeongjong, Sangbaekn and Hegu LI4 and acupuncture was maintained for 15 minutes. After above therapy dry cupping was performed at the points of Jianjing GB21, Jianwaishu SI14, Gaohuang BL43, Tianzong, SI11 and Bingfeng SI12 for 5 minutes. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in VAS, pain threshold of Jianjing GB21 and Jianwaishu SI14 following treatment. In the two groups VAS was significantly decreased. In Rainbow Power therapy group the pain threshold of the two points was significantly increased. But there was no significant increase in acupuncture therapy groups about the pain threshold of Jianwaishu SI14. Conclusions: The effectiveness of Rainbow Power therapy on neck pain was shown through VAS and pressure algometer. These imply that Rainbow Power therapy may be useful for neck pain. Further study is needed about Rainbow Power therapy.
담낭암에서 c-erbB-2 , 표피성장인자수용체 , p53 단백 및 증식세포핵항원 발현의 의의

Background/Aims: Many molecular biologic studies have been performed to search for prognostic factors in various forms of human cancer. But studies of this type, relating to gallbaldder cancery have been very few. The present study aims to assess the prognostic value of the oncogene and tumor suppressor gene products. Methods: We evaluated expressions of c-erbB-2, EGFR, p53 protein, and PCNA on 42 gallbaldder cancers using the immunohistochemical staining and compared this with the survival and the parameters well-known as prognostic factors in gallbladder cancer, such as stage, lymph node metastasis, and histologic differentiation. Results: Expressions of c-erbB-2, EGFR, p53 protein, and PCNA showed in 9(21.4%), 26(61.9%), 20(47.6%), and 22(52.4%) respectively. Neither c-erbB-2 expression nor EGFR expression was related to stage, lymph node metastasis, histologic differentiation and survival(p$gt;0.05). The expression rate of p53 protein was significantly higher in advanced stages(47% in III and 63% in IV) than in early stages(20% in I and 25% in II)(p$lt;0.05), but did not correlate with survival(p$gt;0.05). PCNA expression was inversely related to histologic differentiation(30% in well, 43% in moderately, 89% in poorly, 100% in undifferentiation)(p$lt;0.05) and survival(7.6% 2-year survival rate for high PCNA expression, 48.7% for low PCNA expression)(p=0.007), but was not related to stage, lymph node metastasis (p$gt;0.05). Conclusions: We found PCNA expression to have an inverse prognostic value and c-erbB-2 and EGFR expression show a trend of poor prognosis but p53 protein expression does not correlate with prognosis in gallbladder cancer.

<P>This study was conducted to assess the antioxidant capacity and protective effect of the ethyl acetate fraction from persimmon (<I>Diospyros kaki</I>) (EFDK) on H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>-induced hippocampal HT22 cells and trimethyltin chloride (TMT)-induced Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) mice. EFDK had high antioxidant activities and neuroprotective effects in HT22 cells. EFDK ameliorated behavioral and memory deficits in Y-maze, passive avoidance and Morris water maze tests. Also, EFDK restored the antioxidant system by regulating malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and reduced gluthathione (GSH), and the cholinergic system by controlling the acetylcholine (ACh) level and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity and expression. EFDK enhanced mitochondrial function by regulating reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), and adenosine triphosphate (ATP). Ultimately, EFDK regulated the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK)/protein kinase B (Akt) pathway and apoptotic pathway by suppressing the expression of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), phosphorylated insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS-1pSer), phosphorylated JNK (p-JNK), phosphorylated tau (p-tau), phosphorylated nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (p-NF-κB), Bcl-2-associated X protein (BAX) and cytosolic cytochrome c, and increasing the expression of phosphorylated Akt (p-Akt) and mitochondrial cytochrome c. This study suggested that EFDK had antioxidant activity and a neuroprotective effect, and ameliorated cognitive abnormalities in TMT-induced mice by regulating the JNK/Akt and apoptotic pathway.</P>
