<P><B>Background:</B></P><P>We evaluated the association between polymorphisms of cytochrome P450 2A6 (<I>CYP2A6</I>)/excision repair cross-complementation group 1 (<I>ERCC1</I>)/X-ray repair cross-complementing group 1(<I>XRCC1</I>) and treatment outcomes of metastatic gastric cancer (MGC) patients treated with S-1/cisplatin.</P><P><B>Methods:</B></P><P>Among MGC patients (<I>n</I>=108), who received S-1 (40 mg m<SUP>−2</SUP> b.i.d., days 1–14) and cisplatin (60 mg m<SUP>−2</SUP>, day 1) every 3 weeks, we analysed the wild-type allele (<I>W</I>) and variants (<I>V</I>) of <I>CYP2A6</I> (<I>*4</I>, <I>*7, *9, *10</I>), and the polymorphisms of <I>ERCC1</I> (rs11615, rs3212986) and <I>XRCC1</I> (rs25487).</P><P><B>Results:</B></P><P>Patients having fewer <I>CYP2A6</I> variants had better response rates (<I>W</I>/<I>W vs W</I>/<I>V</I> other than <I>*1/*4 vs V</I>/<I>V</I> or <I>*1/*4</I>=66.7 <I>vs</I> 58.3 <I>vs</I> 32.3% <I>P</I>=0.008), time to progression (TTP) (7.2 <I>vs</I> 6.1 <I>vs</I> 3.5 months, <I>P</I>=0.021), and overall survival (23.2 <I>vs</I> 15.4 <I>vs</I> 12.0 months, <I>P</I>=0.004). <I>ERCC1 19442C</I>><I>A</I> (rs3212986) was also associated with response rate (<I>C/C</I>, 46.7% <I>vs C/A</I>, 55.3% <I>vs A/A</I>, 87.5%) (<I>P</I>=0.048) and TTP (4.4 <I>vs</I> 7.6 <I>vs</I> 7.9 months) (<I>P</I>=0.012). Patients carrying both risk genotypes of <I>CYP2A6</I> (<I>V</I>/<I>V</I> or <I>1/*4</I>) and <I>ERCC1 19442C</I>><I>A</I> (<I>C/C</I>) <I>vs</I> those carrying none showed an adjusted odds ratio of 0.113 (<I>P</I>=0.004) for response, and adjusted hazard ratios of 3.748 (<I>P</I>=0.0001) for TTP and 2.961 (<I>P</I>=0.006) for death.</P><P><B>Conclusion:</B></P><P>Polymorphisms of <I>CYP2A6</I> and <I>ERCC1 19442C</I>><I>A</I> correlated with the efficacy of S-1/cisplatin.</P>
Multiple novel H5N6 highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses, South Korea, 2016

<P>We report the identification of novel highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses of subtype H5N6, Glade 23.4.4, that presumably originated from China. In addition, reassortant strains with Eurasian lineage low pathogenic avian influenza viruses were isolated in wild birds and poultry in South Korea. The emergence of these novel H5N6 viruses and their circulation among bird populations are of great concern because of the potential for virus dissemination with intercontinental wild bird migration. <P>In this study, these double anti -reflection layers were fabricated by a continuous deposition technique using the plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition method. We attempted to determine whether this method is fast and cost effective and can achieve higher efficiency for solar cell manufacture. The results show that the short circuit current density for the double layer anti -reflection Coating on selective emitter solar cells was higher by 0.5 mA/cm(2) compared to the single layer coating owing to the improved optical reflectance. The incorporation of a SiN/SiON stack into the anti -reflection layer of the CZ selective emitter solar cells yields an energy conversion efficiency of 19.4%, which is higher than the efficiency (19.18%) for the reference solar cells with single layer SiN anti -reflection coating. <P>This study examined the activity of Cu-Sn-Zr-based catalysts for the direct sulfur recovery process under the regeneration gas containing oxygen, which consisted of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen as the main components. The catalytic reaction behavior was investigated with the addition of a copper promoter, and the reactive temperature for SO2 reduction was investigated according to the change in temperature by increasing and decreasing the temperature in the processes in stages. The catalytic reaction pathway changed with the catalysis of the promoter, and the activity of the reacted catalyst was higher than that of the fresh catalyst due to the sulfidation of the Cu-promoter. CuS leads to a COS intermediate mechanism, and prevents the deactivation of Cu-Sn-Zr-based by oxygen contained in the regeneration gas. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.</P>
In Vitro Induction of Differentiation by Ginsenosides in F9 Teratocarcinoma Cells

The aim of this study was to determine the ability of the ginsenosides, extracts of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer, to cause differentiation of F9 teratocarcinoma stem cells as a model system. F9 stem cells cultured in the presence of the ginsenosides together with dibutyryl cyclic AMP (dbcAMP) became parietal endoderm-like cells. Moreover, the expression of differentiation marker genes, such as laminin B1 and type IV collagen, was increased after treatment with the ginsenosides. Among the various purified ginsenosides, Rh_1, and Rh_2, were the most effective at causing differentiation of F9 cells. Since ginsenosides and glucocorticoid hormone have similar chemical structures, we examined the possibility of the involvement of a glucocoticoid receptor (GR) in the differentiation process induced by the ginsenosides. According to Southwestern blot analysis, a 94 kDa protein regarded as a GR was detected. In F9 cells cultured in the medium containing the ginsenosides Rh_1, or Rh_2. In addition, F9 stem cells treated with the ginsenosides Rh_1, or Rh_2 and with RU486, a glucocorticoid antagonist with a high affinity for the GR, did not differentiate into endoderm cells morphologically, and the expression of laminin B1 gene was not induced in these cells. In a gel mobility shift assay, protein factors capable of binding to the glucocorticoid responsive element (GRE) specifically were detected in nuclear extracts of the ginsenoside-treated F9 cells. Moreover, overexpression of GR by cotransfection of GR expression vector and GRE-luciferase vector enhanced the transactivation activity of GRE promoter in the presence of ginsenosides Rh_1 or Rh_2 and was further augmented by dbcAMP. In addition, ginsenosides Rh_1 and Rh_2 bound to a GR assessed by whole-cell binding assay, even though the specific binding affinity was weaker compared to dexamethasone. Based on these data, we suggest that the ginsenosides Rh_1 and Rh_2 cause the differentiation of F9 cells and the effects of ginsenosides might be exerted bia binding with a GR or its analogous nuclear receptor. The basic purpose of this study was to measure all of the fundamental skill of hand ball players participated in The 5th Korean-Japan Hand Ball Tournament held in Seoul, 1971. The participating teams of the tournament were 5 teams (Kyung Hee University, Won Kwang College, Seung keug kang Univeristy the selected team of Korea students and The selected team of Japan students). The researcher of this study classify the meassify the measurement into the following categories; 1. The running distance in game 2. The time of keeping the ball. 3. The. frequency of succesfully sequent passing The result of this study pointed out the following facts; 1. An average running distance in the 60 minutes duration of game, recorded 3772.0 Meters. In the firsthalf of game, it recorded 1925.9M which was 51% of the total distance; and in the second half, 1846.1 M which was 49%. 2. Average humber of passing for each teams was about 88 in one game and total number of the participante passing was 792 players. 3. The time spent in actual in play between teams in one game was on averge 40 minutes which was 66% of total time. 4. The time spent in one passing was average 1.5 seconds, it being between 1.30 to 1.78 seconds.

This treatise is to set up a fundermental condition of checking silk lousiness and to set up a new improving method of cocoon bave lousiness after suer refining treatment. It is also studied whether silk lousiness can be eliminated through the observation of the silk gland or the lousiness can be able to improve through such a study. The conclusions obtained in this paper are as follows. 1. Silk lousiness is able to be observed most properly when the light direction and the fiber direction is paralleled in plan view of the silk cloth and the greater the angle between them is, the less the lousiness is observed. When, however, the angle is greater than some specific angle (30˚), no more lousiness is observed. This specific angle was named by the author as Lousiness Horizontal Critical Angle. 2. Silk lousiness can be observed when the angle of light incidense against the silk cloth is six degree, while the large the angle is, the less the lousiness is observed. When, however, the angle is greater than some specific angle(45˚), the lousiness disappears. Such a specific angle was named by the author as Lousiness vertical Critical Angles. 3. The best textile composition to decrease lousiness defect is plan weave, while twill and satin weave show more lousiness with same silk fiber. 4. Lousiness was classified as Lousiness A, B and C of which A was the general lousiness, B was the group type, and C was the glucose type one, and the standard photographs for the lousiness grading of these types were prepared. 5. The proper soap refining hours of silk for lousiness test was determined as eight hours. 6. The greater the difference of fiber diameter between the cocoon single bave and the splitend was, the more lousiness was composed. The normal splitends were measured as 1/4-1/5 of the main fiber. 7. The lousiness was found at the cocoon shape ends more than other parts, and found at the middle cocoon layer than other layer which was imagined to be as a result of poor uniform bave spinning of silk worm. 8. Male cocoon had more lousiness than the female cocoon. 9. It was found that there was a great possibility to have the splitends through the observation of the anatomical silk gland, and the author reached as conclusion that the lousiness can be improved some only be elimination of abnormal silk gland from the breeding aspects. 10. The cocoon bave of the offspring after super refining lousiness test and selection showed more improved lousiness defect than that of the parent.
