        This present study was conducted to determine the effects of sea water quality and sediment quality on growth and body composition in poly culture system, Paralichthys olivaceus and Urechis unicinctus. The seawater temperature of the experimental groups was ranges of 17.1~23.8℃, the lowest in 0 day and the highest in 70 day. The concentration of COD was 1.2~1.6㎎/ℓ, DIN 6.19~28.89㎎/ℓ in the D group. Mean IL concentration was 5.42~5.07% and it was maximum in 0 day and relatively minimum 70day. The concentration of AVS was 0.36~0.22㎎/g-dry, COD 4.36~4.08㎎/g-dry in the D group. Growth and feed intake of fish were affected by diets and feeding frequencies(P<0.05). There were differences at all experimental groups especially C group and control group but A, B group and C, D group were not difference. The lowest increased body weight was observed 4.7g in the D experimental group and the highest experimental group was observed 8.6g in the C group.

      • 대학생의 의복행동과 심리적 특성과의 관계 : 의복의 상황적 적절성, 한복에 대한 태도 및 유행을 중심으로

        The purposes of this study were: (1) to investigate the relation of 4 aspects of clothing behavior to locus of control, (2) to ascertain whether differences exist between males and females on clothing behaviors, and (3) to develop measures of attitudes toward Korean traditional clothing and clothing appropriateness. Locus of control was assessed by Rotter's Internal-External Locus of Control Scale as modified by Jeho Cha and others. The existing clothing interest measures were slightly modified to assess interest in fashion, modesty and clothing importance. Additional measures of attitudes toward Korean traditional clothing (Ⅰ)&(Ⅱ), clothing appropriateness, and attitudes toward the latest male and female fashion styles were developed. The sample consisted of 627 male and 453 female students in Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. The data were collected by means of self-administered questionnaires and were analyzed by correlation, Z-tests, and X^2 tests. The results indicated that: 1) Locus of control was significantly related to attitudes toward Korean traditional clothing (Ⅰ)&(Ⅱ), fashion interest, and 2 aspects of clothing appropriateness: those who were high on internal reinforcement had more positive attitudes to various aspects of Korean traditional clothing and they also accepted more varied male outfits for campus wear. They also considered Korean clothing as more suitable to more varied social occasions. On the other hand, those who were high on external reinforcement were more interested in fashion. 2) As for sex differences on clothing behavior, females scored significantly higher on interest in fashion, modesty, and clothing importance. Compared with males they preferred the latest fashion style of clothing for both sexes. There were no significant differences between males and females on clothing appropriateness scores and attitudes toward Korean traditional clothing. 3) Attitudes toward Korean traditional clothing were related negatively to fashion interest, whereas it was related positively to modesty in clothing. 4) Fashion interest was related positively to clothing importance and negatively to modesty in clothing. 5) The measures developed for this study had high reliability, thus, these could be of use for further clothing behavior studies.

        Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome is characterized by marked elevation of eosinophil count ( >1,500/㎣) in peripheral blood without explaining etiology. It shows tissue involvement in many organs such as liver, G-I tract, myocar dium, lung, skin, kidney and nerve. Some case of hypereosinophilic syndrome with hepatic involvement have been reported, but not much. We have recently experienced a case with idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome of a 40 year old man who presented with RUQ pain. By abdominal CT, ill- defined subcapsular hematoma was detected. Liver biopsy showed eosinophilic infiltration within the portal tract and sinusoid. Drain procedure and corticosteroid adminiiatbrought marked improvement of clinical manifestation, hematologic abnormality and radiologic abnormality.

      • 베체트병 환자에서 Azathioprine으로 유발된 급성 췌장염 1례

        Although many drug are thought capable of initiating acute pancreatitis, following azathioprine administration represents the 5% incidence by far the highest recorded incidence to date. We report a 35-year-old male who developed acute pancreatitis in the course of treatment with azathioprine for Behcet's disease. He was admitted due to abdominal pain, diarrhea, and fever for 10 days. Serum amylase and lipase levels were 510U/L and 3702U/L respectively. The abdominal CT scan revealed diffuse enlargement of the pancreas. There was no history of alcohol use or gall bladder disease. We considered drugs, especially azathioprine, as the cause of acute pancreatitis. We diagnosed it as acute pancreatitis. The patient was treated conservatively with hydration and analgesics. The symptom subsided within four days. Five days later, azathioprine was resumed. And the patient complained of abdominal pain. The elevated levels of serum amylase and lipase confirmed the recurrence of pancreatitis. His symptom subsided when azathioprine intake the stopped, and the serum amylase and lipase levels returned to normal level within five days.

      • Nuclear localization of Nm23‐H1 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma is associated with radiation resistance

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P><B>BACKGROUND:</B></P><P>Although radiation resistance is a primary issue in radiation therapy, attempts to find predictors of radiation resistance have met with little success. The authors therefore aimed to determine predictors for radiation resistance to improve the prognosis of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).</P><P><B>METHODS:</B></P><P>HNSCC cell lines, SCC15, SCC25, and QLL1, irradiated with an acute dose of 4 grays (Gy) (RR‐4), a cumulative dose of 60 Gy (RR‐60), and a booster dose of 4 Gy over 60 Gy (RR‐60 + 4), were used with nonirradiated cell lines. Those were used in cDNA microarray, proteomics, Western blotting, and immunofluorescence, respectively. One hundred five HNSCC tissue samples with radiation resistance were analyzed by immunohistochemistry.</P><P><B>RESULTS:</B></P><P>Western blot analysis of RR‐60 cell lines was identical to the data of Nm23‐H1 overexpression by cDNA array and proteomic screening. Immunofluorescence demonstrated significant nuclear translocation of Nm23‐H1 in RR‐4 and RR‐60 cell lines, and less but still intense nuclear shuttling in RR‐60 + 4. Similarly, Nm23‐H1 nuclear localization was observed in 20% (21 of 105) of tissue samples. Univariate analysis demonstrated that Nm23‐H1 nuclear localization was strongly associated with overall and recurrence‐free survival. Multivariate stepwise Cox regression analysis showed that Nm23‐H1 nuclear localization (odds ratio [OR], 7.48) and N stage (OR, 2.13) were associated with overall survival, and Nm23‐H1 nuclear localization (OR, 3.02), T stage (OR, 1.43), and insufficient tumor margin (OR, 3.27) were associated with recurrence‐free survival.</P><P><B>CONCLUSIONS:</B></P><P>Overexpression of Nm23‐H1, specifically its nuclear translocation, may be a powerful predictor of radiation resistance in HNSCC.         Exogenous Bio-Based 2,3-Butanediols Enhanced Abiotic Stress Tolerance of Tomato and Turfgrass under Drought or Chilling Stress

        Among abiotic stresses in plants, drought and chilling stresses reduce the supply of moisture to plant tissues, inhibit photosynthesis, and severely reduce plant growth and yield. Thus, the application of water stress-tolerant agents can be a useful strategy to maintain plant growth under abiotic stresses. This study assessed the effect of exogenous bio-based 2,3-butanediol (BDO) application on drought and chilling response in tomato and turfgrass, and expression levels of several plant signaling pathway-related gene transcripts. Bio-based 2,3-BDOs were formulated to levo-2,3-BDO 0.9% soluble concentrate (levo 0.9% SL) and meso-2,3-BDO 9% SL (meso 9% SL). Under drought and chilling stress conditions, the application of levo 0.9% SL in creeping bentgrass and meso 9% SL in tomato plants significantly reduced the deleterious effects of abiotic stresses. Interestingly, pretreatment with levo-2,3-BDO in creeping bentgrass and meso-2,3-BDO in tomato plants enhanced JA and SA signaling pathway-related gene transcript expression levels in different ways. In addition, all tomato plants treated with acibenzolar-S-methyl (as a positive control) withered completely under chilling stress, whereas 2,3-BDO-treated tomato plants exhibited excellent cold tolerance. According to our findings, bio-based 2,3-BDO isomers as sustainable water stress-tolerant agents, levo- and meso-2,3-BDOs, could enhance tolerance to drought and/or chilling stresses in various plants through somewhat different molecular activities without any side effects.

        The Protein Kinase A Pathway Regulates Zearalenone Production by Modulating Alternative ZEB2 Transcription

        Zearalenone (ZEA) is an estrogenic mycotoxin that is produced by several Fusarium species, including Fusarium graminearum. One of the ZEA biosynthetic genes, ZEB2, encodes two isoforms of Zeb2 by alternative transcription, forming an activator (Zeb2L-Zeb2L homooligomer) and an inhibitor (Zeb2L-Zeb2S heterodimer) that directly regulate the ZEA biosynthetic genes in F. graminearum. Cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase A (PKA) signaling regulates secondary metabolic processes in several filamentous fungi. In this study, we investigated the effects of the PKA signaling pathway on ZEA biosynthesis. Through functional analyses of PKA catalytic and regulatory subunits (CPKs and PKR), we found that the PKA pathway negatively regulates ZEA production. Genetic and biochemical evidence further demonstrated that the PKA pathway specifically represses ZEB2L transcription and also takes part in posttranscriptional regulation of ZEB2L during ZEA production. Our findings reveal the intriguing mechanism that the PKA pathway regulates secondary metabolite production by reprograming alternative transcription.

      • 백양사 사찰림 비자나무 임분의 테르펜류 잔존량과 성분특성

        본 연구는 비자나무 임분내의 NVOCs 잔존량을 규명하고 비자나무에서 방출되는 NVOCs의 성분을 규명하고자 수행하였다. 실험은 2017년 4월부터 10월까지, 총 7회에 걸쳐 장성군에 위치한 내장산국립공원 백양지구 내 비자나무 임분에서 이루어졌다. NVOCs의 포집은 가지에 테틀러백을 씌우고 순수공기를 주입시켜 11시부터 12시까지 포집하는 테틀러백 법과 임분 내에서 직접 포집하는 미니펌프법으로 실시하였다. 테틀러백을 이용한 비자나무의 월별 NVOCs 잔존량은 각각 146,156 pptv/4월, 176,786 pptv/5월, 132,466 pptv/6월, 22,908pptv/7월, 73,782pptv/8월, 38,736pptv/9월, 41,233pptv/10월로 측정되었으며, 비자나무 임분 내에서 측정한 월별 NVOCs는 5,169 pptv/4월, 11,940 pptv/5월, 7,657 pptv/6월, 6,864pptv/7월, 13,912pptv/8월, 2,640pptv/9월, 1,828pptv/10월로 나타났다. NVOCs의 15종에 대한 성분을 7회 평균값을 산출한 결과, limonene이 약 43∼52%로 가장 많은 함량을 차지하고 있었으며 α-pinene 은 약 35∼39%의 비율인 것으로 분석되었다. 비자나무를 대상으로 포집방법의 차이에 따른 NVOCs 잔존량은 최소 15배에서 28배까지 차이를 보였으며, NVOCs 성분의 대부분이 limonene과 α-pinene으로 나타났다. 임분내 NVOCs에 대한 기초자료로서 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. This study aims to identify the NVOCs(Natural Volatile Organic Compound) retention volume of Torreya nucifera stand and the characteristic of chemical compositions of the NVOCs emitted from it. This experiment was performed seven times in total from April to October, 2017 at Torreya nucifera temple forest of Naejangsan National Park Baekyangsa in Jangseong-gun. Two methods were used as the sampling methods of NVOCs. The first one was to use tedlar bags. After placing a tedlarbag over a branch and leafs, we injected pure air into it and captured NVOCs for 2 hours from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The second one was to capture NVOCs directly in a stand of Torreya nucifera used mini pump. When tedlarbags were used, the monthly NVOCs retention volumes of Torreya nucifera were 146,156pptv/April, 176,786pptv/May and 132,466pptv/June, 22,908pptv/July, 73,782pptv /August, 38,736pptv/September, 41,233pptv/October respectively. In addition, when measured using minipump in the stand, the monthly NVOCs retention volumes were 5,169 pptv/April, 11,940pptv /May, and 7,657pptv/June, 6,864pptv/July, 13,912pptv/August, 2,640pptv/September, 1,828pptv/October respectively. In order to identify the characteristic of compositions, 15 kinds of terpenes were analyzed, and their average was calculated seven times. As a result, limonene had the highest percentage of 43 to 52%, and α-pinene accounted for 35 to 39%. The NVOCs retention volume depended on the sampling method from Torreya nucifera stand. The highest NVOCs retention volume was at least 15 to 28 times higher, and most components of NVOCs were limonene and α-pinene. It is believed that NVOCs within the domain can be utilized as a baseline.
