      • Energy level alignment at the interface of NPB/HAT-CN/graphene for flexible organic light-emitting diodes

        <P>Graphene is highly promising as an electrode for flexible optoelectronic devices due to its excellent conductivity and transparency. However, it is necessary to tailor its work function with a charge injection layer in order to obtain favorable energy level alignment for efficient charge injection. An adequate charge injection layer can only be chosen with the understanding of the interfacial electronic structure between a charge transport layer and an electrode. In this study, we investigated the energy level alignment of N,N'-diphenyl-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (NPB)/hexaazatriphenylene hexacarbonitrile (HATCN)/graphene using in situ ultraviolet and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements. The effective work function of graphene was significantly increased by 0.94 eV by the HAT-CN hole injection layer HIL) due to the interface dipole formation. In addition, the charge generation barrier (CGB) between NPB and HAT-CN, which plays a decisive role in charge injection efficiency with a charge generation HIL, was measured to be 0.66 eV. This CGB on graphene is the same as the CGBs on other electrodes, and smaller than that of the widely-used MoO3 HIL. Therefore, HAT-CN could be a promising HIL for efficient flexible organic light- emitting diodes with a graphene anode. (C) 2016 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.</P>

        The Real Role of 4,4'-Bis[N-[4-{N,N-bis(3-methylphenyl)amino}phenyl]-N-phenylamino] biphenyl (DNTPD) Hole Injection Layer in OLED: Hole Retardation and Carrier Balancing

        We explored interfacial electronic structures in indium tin oxide (ITO)/DNTPD/N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(1-naphthyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (NPB) layer stack in an OLED to clarify the real role of an aromatic amine-based hole injection layer, DNTPD. A hole injection barrier at the ITO/DNTPD interface is lowered by 0.20 eV but a new hole barrier of 0.36 eV at the DNTPD/NPB is created. The new barrier at the DNTPD/NPB interface and its higher bulk resistance serve as hole retardation, and thus those cause the operation voltage for the ITO/DNTPD/NPB to increase. However, it improves current efficiency through balancing holes and electrons in the emitting layer.

      • Construction of a Polyheterocyclic Benzopyran Library with Diverse Core Skeletons through Diversity-Oriented Synthesis Pathway

        <P>In this study, a divergent and practical solid-phase parallel diversity-oriented synthesis (DOS) strategy was successfully applied for the construction of five discrete core skeletons embedded with privileged benzopyranyl substructure. The diversity of these core skeletons was expanded through the introduction of various substituents at the R, R(1), and R(2) positions from a single key intermediate in five different pathways. More importantly, we efficiently maximized the molecular diversity through the transformation of the core skeleton itself by using the library-to-library concept and created a distinctively different collection of small molecules with the same building blocks. A 434-member polyheterocyclic benzopyran library was constructed on a scale of about 10 mg with the potential for further diversification. Without further purification, the average purity of the library is 85%.</P>

        Whole-genome sequencing reveals an association between small genomic deletions and an increased risk of developing Parkinson’s disease

        Single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) associated with Parkinson’s disease (PD) have been investigated mainly through genome-wide association studies. However, other genomic alterations, including copy number variations, remain less explored. In this study, we conducted whole-genome sequencing of primary (310 PD patients and 100 healthy individuals) and independent (100 PD patients and 100 healthy individuals) cohorts from the Korean population to identify high-resolution small genomic deletions, gains, and SNVs. Global small genomic deletions and gains were found to be associated with an increased and decreased risk of PD development, respectively. Thirty significant locus deletions were identified in PD, with most being associated with an increased PD risk in both cohorts. Small genomic deletions in clustered loci located in the GPR27 region had high enhancer signals and showed the closest association with PD. GPR27 was found to be expressed specifically in brain tissue, and GPR27 copy number loss was associated with upregulated SNCA expression and downregulated dopamine neurotransmitter pathways. Clustering of small genomic deletions on chr20 in exon 1 of the GNAS isoform was detected. In addition, we found several PD-associated SNVs, including one in the enhancer region of the TCF7L2 intron, which exhibited a cis-acting regulatory mode and an association with the beta-catenin signaling pathway. These findings provide a global, whole-genome view of PD and suggest that small genomic deletions in regulatory domains contribute to the risk of PD development.

      • 영아의 자연관련 연구 동향 분석

        The study conducted an annual study on the natural sciences of infants from 2003 to 2017 and analyzed trends in their research activities for the respect and analysis of the research results, research methods, and research results on the environmental value of infants ’ studies. Summary and discussion of the results obtained from this study is as follows. First, the frequency of the study subjects of infants natural studies was found to be walking (27.2 %), naturalism (27.2 %), forest (23.6 %), and naturalism (14.5 %), possible. Second, if you look at the theme of the annual research paper on natural studies for infants, it was shown that they were first studied in the areas of natural friendliness in 2003. In 2008, they tended to be natural studies, and in 2012, they tended to be natural learning. Third, if you look at the distribution of research papers by subject, it was the highest among the five teachers, and then the second of the two. The study of infants revealed that they took 13 walks, 12 nature friendly, 12 forests, 6 naturalism, and 2 natural experiences, respectively, to achieve sustainable development. Fourth, research methods were analyzed and the number of studies found in quantitative research was high, with 25 inspections and 6 questionnaires. Qualitative research revealed 19 participatory observations, 18 data collection, seven interviews and one journal. Fifth, the analysis of the study papers divided into independent variables and subordinative variables revealed that the details of independent variables were divided into different topics (walking, forest, naturalism, natural experience, natural affinity, and sustainable development), and the use of the themes. Dependent variables are divided according to development areas such as language, cognition, emotion, socialism, play, body, and nature friendly attitude, and quantitative research indicates language and cognition. Various areas of development, such as emotion, social skills, play, body, and nature friendly attitudes, were studied as dependent variables through examination and questionaire, and in qualitative research, the search for recognition, emotion, social skills, and experience was carried out in infants. 본 연구는 2003년부터 2017년까지 발표된 영아의 자연관련 연구 논문을 연도별 논문 편수, 연구대상 연구방법, 연구내용에 대해 고찰하고 분석하여 연구동향을 분석해보았으며 영유아기의 환경교육의 연계와 환경교육에 중심이 되는 자연존중, 생명존중의 가치관에 대한 연구를 위한 영아기의 자연관련 연구의 기초를 제공하기 위한 목적으로 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 결과를 중심으로 요약하고 논의하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영아의 자연관련 연구의 연구주제의 빈도수를 살펴본 결과 산책(27.2%), 자연친화(27.2%), 숲(23.6%), 자연주의(14.5%), 자연체험(3.6), 지속가능발전(3.6%)순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 영아의 자연관련 연구의 연도별 연구논문의 주제에 대해 살펴보면 2003년도에 자연친화 영역에서 처음 연구가 시작되어 이후 꾸준히 연구되는 경향을 보였고 2008년에 산책, 2011년에 숲, 2012년에 자연주의와 자연체험을 중심으로 연구되었다. 셋째, 연구 대상별 연구 논문의 분포를 살펴보면 영아를 대상으로 한 연구 논문이 46편으로 가장 높았으며 그다음 교사5편, 부모와 원장 2편이었다. 영아를 대상으로 한 논문에는 산책13편, 자연친화 12편, 숲 12편, 자연주의 6편, 자연체험 2편 지속가능발전 1편으로 나타났다. 넷째, 연구 방법을 분석한 결과 양적연구에서 나타난 연구방법은 검사 25회, 질문지 6회로 검사를 활용한 횟수가 높게 나타났다. 질적 연구에서는 참여관찰 19회, 자료수집18회, 면담 7회, 저널 1회로 나타났다. 다섯째, 독립변인과 종속변인으로 나누어서 연구 논문을 분석한 결과 독립변인의 세부내용은 각 주제(산책, 숲, 자연주의, 자연체험, 자연 친화, 지속가능발전)별로 나누어졌으며 주제를 활용한 다양한 활동 프로그램이 독립변인이 되는 것으로 나타났다. 종속변인은 언어, 인지, 정서, 사회성, 놀이, 신체, 자연친화 태도 등 발달 영역에 따라 나누어졌으며 양적연구에서는 언어, 인지. 정서, 사회성, 놀이, 신체, 자연친화 태도 등 다양한 발달 영역이 검사법과 질문지법을 통해 종속변인으로 연구 되었고 질적연구에서는 인지와 정서, 사회성, 놀이를 중심으로 영아의 경험 탐색과 자료수집 등의 연구가 이루어졌다.

      • Unfavorable outcome of a paranasal cosmetic prosthesis caused by dental implants: a case report

        This article presents an unfavorable outcome of a paranasal cosmetic prosthesis, Medpor, which is affected by dental implants. The paper provides treatment insight for oral and maxillofacial specialists. The patients had undergone mandibular set-back surgery combined with both paranasal augmentations using Medpor. In due course, dental implants were placed on the anterior maxilla a few years later. The patient suffered from persistent pain and purulent discharge, but no significant correlation was observed on the panorama and CBCT. Dental implants were inserted near the Medpor for a paranasal augmentation, affecting each other, resulting in clinical symptoms. Medpor, as a radiolucent material, was not visible on dental radiography. Its characteristics of a bony-like texture and color could mislead dentists to misjudge a bony structure clinically. Therefore, the dental implant fixtures were inserted near the Medpor. The Medpors on the affected area were infected, requiring it to be surgically removed. This suggests that both dental implants and Medpors failed. A comprehensive evaluation of patient history and strategic presurgical planning should be obtained to avoid an inappropriate consequence of grafting.

        ``나트륨의 과다섭취가 성인병의 요인이 된다``는 최근 연구 결과를 바탕으로 염분 섭취에 대한 관심이 증대 되면서 저염도 식품 등 염도 측정이 필요한 분야에서 염도 측정의 높은 정확도를 요구하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존 염도 측정과 관련된 분야의 연구 결과를 활용해서 NXT 기반의 염도센서를 제작하고, 제작한 염도센서에서 산출된 결과 값을 이용하여 저염도 측정 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 염도 측정의 부정확함을 개선하고자 한다. 이를 위해 NXT 기반의 염도센서에서 나오는 저항값을 토대로 정확한 염도값을 구하기 위한 보정 알고리즘을 연구하였고 이를 프로그래밍하여 구현하였다. 실험을 통해 저염도 구간에서의 염도측정의 정밀함을 개선하는 결과를 얻었다.
