        7차 초등학교 과학 교과서의 삽화에 나타난 성역할 고정관념 분석

        이 연구는 제7차 교육과정기의 과학 교과서와 실험관찰 교과서에 제시된 삽화를 성역할 고정관념 측면에서 분석하고 6차 교육과정기의 과학 교과서와 비교하였다. 교재에 나타난 삽화에서 성별에 따른 등장인물의 빈도를 세고, 활동 유형을 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 과학 교과서의 전체 삽화 수는 6차에 비해 7차에서 2배 정도 증가하였다. 2) 아동의 경우 학습활동에서는 성에 관계없이 등장 빈도가 대체적으로 균형을 이루었지만, 학습의 활동에서는 남학생의 등장 빈도가 여학생보다 더 높았다. 3) 행동 특성에서는 남녀 학생 모두 적극적으로 묘사되었고, 소극적으로 묘사되는 여학생의 비율은 6차 과학 교과서에 비해 감소하였다. 4) 성인의 경우에는 남성의 등장 빈도가 여성보다 높게 나타났다. 5) 가사 활동을 하는 모습에서는 여성의 등장 빈도가 40%로 높게 나타난 반면, 남성은 드물게 나타났다. The illustrations in elementary science textbooks and experimental workbooks based on the 7th national curriculum were analyzed for gender-role stereotyping, and compared with those of the 6th curriculum. The frequencies of men and women who appeared on text illustrations were counted and the types of roles assigned to males and females were investigated. The results were as follows. 1) The 7th national curriculum textbooks contained double the number of illustrations in the textbooks based on the 6th curriculum. 2) Boys and girls were illustrated in 'learning activities' with equal frequency, but boys were more frequently represented than girls in illustrations of 'other' activities. 3) Both boys and girls were generally depicted in 'active' processes and the ratio of 'passive girl' illustrations decreased as compared with the 6th national curriculum. 4) Male adults were more frequently represented than female adults in both textbooks and experimental workbooks. 5) 40% of female adults were illustrated doing housework, while male adults were rarely illustrated in such a role.

        The ATM Adaptation Layer 2(AAL2) was made to allow multiplexing of multiple user voice packets in a single ATM connection. In delivering voice packets over AAL2, delay and jitter are the major challenges for rendering good audio quality. in this paper, we assume two separate user groups, one of which requests the higher service quality than the other. in order to provide low delay jitter boundary for the high priority user packets, we propose a modified Minimum Laxity Threshold (MLT) scheduling algorithm, called D-AMLT in this paper, and show the simulation results using this algorithm. We also compare the results with the ones using other algorithms.

        Polyurethane dispersions(PUD) were prepared from IPDI, PHMCD, DMPA as anionic site, and ADH as end-capping.This prepolymers were dispersed in the aqueous phase by neutralization emulsification. The polyurethane dispersions were electrostatically stabilized with carboxyl group incorporated into their particles, which were neutralized by TEA(triethylamine).The lhysical properties of aqueous PU prepolymer were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), gel permeation chromatography (GPC), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and Rheometer.This procedure contains the effect of molecular weight on the particle size of PUD and on the viscosity were investigated.As the molecular weight of PUDs increascd the particle size and viscosity is not changed.

        초등학교 과학 수업에서 팀 게임 토너먼트(TGT) 협동학습의 효과

        The purpose of this study was to develop a way of using Teams Games Tournaments that fits in elementary school science instruction, and to find out its effects on student's learning. Three classes (103 sixth graders) were divided into three groups; a traditional learning group, a cooperative learning group, and a teams games tournaments cooperative learning group. Students were taught about 'several kinds of gas' for nine class periods. The instructional effects upon student's achievement, science learning motivation and self-esteem toward science instruction were examined. The result of this study indicated that there was a significant interaction effect between the treatment and achievement level in the achievement test scores. The achievement test scores of the low level students were significantly higher in the teams games tournaments cooperative learning group than those in the traditional learning groups.

        초등학교 과학 수업에서 개념도 활용의 효과

        In this study, we investigated the effects of using concept mapping as an instructional tool on 4th graders' achievement, science learning motivation, and attitude toward science classes. T재 classes (38 students) from an elementary school were respectively assigned to a control group and a treatment group. Students were taught about "expansion of matter by heat" and "heat transfer". These topics were chosen because they require students to understand more concepts as well as relationships among them. A science learning motivation test and an attitude toward science classes test were administered as pretests. A researcher-made achievement test, the science learning motivation test, and the attitude toward science classes test were administered as posttests. The results indicated that using concept mapping in 4th-grade science classes was not significantly effective in improving students' achievement though a statistically significant positive effect was found in the subcategory of knowledge. No statistically significant effect of using concept mapping was found in the scores of the science learning motivation test and the attitude toward science classes test. Educational implications are discussed.

        Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes ('1°ILs) interact most closely with tumor cells and thus are more likely to reflect tumor host interactions accurately. But it is unknown whether such T cells are nonspecific inflammatory cells or a subset of specific host immune responses. In this study, there was no clear correlation between the infiltration of T lymphocytes in stomach cancer and the overexpression of c-ErbB-2 or increasing class I MHC expression on tumor cells. A positive correlation was seen between the presence of TILs in the tumor and tumors with diploidy by flow cytometric DNA analysis. The proliferative responses of Ills stimulated with IL-2, anti-CD3 mAb, or both were examined. When compared to normal mucosal-associated lymphoid tissue lymphocytes, the proliferative response of TILs to high dose IL-2 was minimal. A similarly poor response to anti-CD3 mAb plus IL-2 was also observed. The freshly isolated TILs exhibit reduced ability to proliferate in response to IL-2, anti-CD3 mAb or both. The microenvironment of the tumor suppresses the proliferative capacity of the TILs. The mechanism of this suppression remains unknown. It could be mediated by suppressor cells, by soluble substances within the tumor, or both. To examine this question, supernatants of stomach cancer cells (SNSNU-1) were tested for the presence of immunosuppressive factors. Human peripheral blood T-cells and tumor-draining lymph node lymphocytes (TDLNL) were incubated for 3 days with SNSNU-1 and then assessed for proliferative responses to PMA, anti-CD28 mAb, or both and for the inducibility to express IFN- r or IL-4 mRNA to PMA. Peripheral blood T-cells pretreated with SNSNU-1 were unable to proliferate in response to PMA, anti-CD28 mAb or both. SNSNU-1 also produces inhibitory activities of TDLNL proliferative response to PMA or anti-CD28 mAb and PMA (49%, 52%, respectively). In contrast, culture supernatants obtained from HEp-2, K562 or Daudi showed normal proliferative responsiveness of peripheral blood T-cells and TDLNL by PMA, anti-CD28 mAb or both.

      • Development and Performance Test of an Equipment for a Selective Separation of Paraffin From the Paraffin Solidification Product Using the Vacuum Evaporation and Condensational Deposition Recovery Method

        Nuclear power plants in Korea stores approximately 3,800 drums of paraffin solidification products. Due to the lack of homogeneity, these solidification products are not allowed to be disposed of. There is therefore a need for the separation of paraffin from the solidification products. This work developed an equipment for a selective separation of paraffin from the solidification product using the vacuum evaporation and condensational recovery method in a closed system. The equipment mainly consists of a vacuum evaporator and a condensational deposition recovery chamber. Nonisothermal vacuum TGAs, kinetic analyses and kinetic predictions were conducted to set appropriate operation conditions. Its basic operability under the established conditions was first confirmed using pure paraffin solid. Simulated paraffin solidification product fixing dried boric acid waste including nonradioactive Co and Cs were then fabricated and tested for the capability of selective separation of paraffin from the simulated waste. Paraffin was selectively separated without entertainment of Co and Cs. It was confirmed that the developed equipment could separate and recover paraffin in the form of nonradioactive waste.

      • XLR, a novel immune escaping factor via P13K/AKT-mediated anti-apoptosis

        Tumor immune escape is one of the major obstacles facing cancer immunotherapy but the mechanisms involved remains poorly understood. To elucidate new mechanisms of immune escape, we generated a highly immune-resistant cancer cell line(TC-1 P3) by subjecting a susceptible cell line(TC-1/P0), a cervical cancer model expressing HPV16 E7 antigen. Successively, we isolated an immune resistant clone having a high expression of MHC class Ⅰ from TC-1 P3, and named TC-1 P3(A17). Through micro array analysis of TC-1 and TC-1 P3(A17), we finally identified a novel immune escaping factor, X-linked lymphocyte-regulated protein(XLR), as an immune resistant factor, which is up-regulated in TC-1 P3(A17), It was found that XLR encodes a 30 KDa nuclear protein, expressed in lymphoid cells and in primary spermatocytes in a developmentally-regulated manner. Interestingly, we observed a significant expression of XLR protein in various murine tumor cell lines including TC-1 as well as a marked up-regulation of that in TC-1 P3(A17). To elucidate a role of XLR in immune resistance, XLR-overexpressed TC-1(TC-1/XLR) tumor cell line was generated by a retroviral vector system. TC-1/XLR cell line had a profound resistance to cytotoxic T lymphocyte(CTL)-induced apoptosis generated by Vac-Sig/E7/LAMP-1 immunization in vitro and in vivo as compared to TC-1/no insert. Interestingly, this XLR-mediated resistance strongly depended on PI3K/AKT signal pathway, which was confirmed by a pharmacological approach using various kinase inhibitors. Inversely, the activation of PI3K/AKT pathway by retroviral transfer of constitutively active form of AKT to TC-1 also increased its resistance against antitumor effects induced by immunization of Vac-Sig/E7/LAMP-1 or adoptive transfer of an E7specific T cell line. Most importantly, in combined therapy with an AKT inhibitor and an immunotherapeutic modality led to an enhanced anti-tumor effects against TC-1 P3(A17) in vivo, compared to either the immunotherapy or the inhibitor treatment alone. Thus, our data suggest that XLR may represent a promising target to facilitate more favorable therapeutic efficacy of cancer immunotherapeutic modality against immune-resistant tumor cells
