        패혈증의 경과에 따른 혈중 스테로이드와 Nitric Oxide의 연관성

        연구배경: 패혈증에서 Nitric oxide 스테로이드 호르몬은 혈역학적 변화와 염증반응에 관여하는데 이 두 인자는 서로 상관성이 있는 것으로 알려지고 있다. 하지만 실제 환자에서 서로의 상관성이나 임상적 의의는 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 방법: 패혈증 환자 26예와 대조군 14예를 대상으로 혈중 총 NO와 혈중 코티졸 농도를 측정하였고 이어서 제 3, 5, 7병일에도 연속적으로 측정을 하였다. 결과: 패혈증 환자군에서 초기 혈중 코티졸 및 총 NO 농도는 대조군에 비하여 유의하게 증가하였고 경증 패혈증에 비하여 중증 패혈증 환자군에서 유의하게 높았다. 초기 혈중 총 NO의 농도는 APACHE II 점수, 정맥혈 lactate 농도와 상관성이 있었다. 패혈증의 시간의 경과에 따라 혈중 NO 농도는 제 1병일, 제 5병일, 제 7병일에 혈중 코티졸의 농도와 유의한 상관성이 있었다. 결론: 패혈증 환자들에서 혈중 NO와 코티졸 농도는 증가되어 있었으며, 경과에 따라 서로 유의한 상관성이 지속되었다. 상호작용기전에 대하여는 추가적인 연구가 필요할 것이다. Background: The nitric oxide (NO) released by inducible NO synthase (iNOS) plays an important role in the pathophysiology of sepsis. Corticosteroids also play a role in the hemodynamic and inflammatory reactions in sepsis. Both have been shown to have a relationship theoretically, but their correlation and clinical impacts have rarely been evaluated. Methods: 26 patients with sepsis and 14 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. The initial random plasma total NO and the serum cortisol levels were measured. The same measurements were serially carried out on the 3rd, 5th, and 7th days. Results: The initial total plasma levels of NO and cortisol were higher in the patients with sepsis than in the healthy controls. The total NO levels were higher in patients with severe sepsis than in the those with mild sepsis. There was a correlation between the total NO and cortisol level throughout the study. Conclusion: In patients with sepsis, the levels of plasma NO and cortisol were well correlated during the first week of sepsis, which suggests an interrelationship. However, the clinical and pathogenetic implications await further evaluation. (Tuberc Respir Dis 2007; 62: 308-313)

        Production of L-Theanine Using Escherichia coli Whole-Cell Overexpressing γ-Glutamylmethylamide Synthetase with Baker’s Yeast

        L-Theanine, found in green tea leaves has been shown to positively affect immunity and relaxation in humans. There have been many attempts to produce L-theanine through enzymatic synthesis to overcome the limitations of traditional methods. Among the many genes coding for enzymes in the L-theanine biosynthesis, glutamylmethylamide synthetase (GMAS) exhibits the greatest possibility of producing large amounts of production. Thus, GMAS from Methylovorus mays No. 9 was overexpressed in several strains including vectors with different copy numbers. BW25113(DE3) cells containing the pET24ma::gmas was selected for strains. The optimal temperature, pH, and metal ion concentration were 50℃, 7, and 5 mM MnCl<sub>2</sub>, respectively. Additionally, ATP was found to be an important factor for producing high concentration of L-theanine so several strains were tested during the reaction for ATP regeneration. Baker’s yeast was found to decrease the demand for ATP most effectively. Addition of potassium phosphate source was demonstrated by producing 4-fold higher L-theanine. To enhance the conversion yield, GMAS was additionally overexpressed in the system. A maximum of 198 mM L-theanine was produced with 16.5 mmol/l/h productivity. The whole-cell reaction involving GMAS has greatest potential for scale-up production of L-theanine.

        중생 고품질 내병 다수성 벼 ‘영보(嶺寶)’

        ‘Yeongbo’ is a variety of japonica rice (Oryza sativa L.) with good eating quality, resistance to rice stripe virus, rice dwarf virus, and bacterial blight disease. It was developed by the rice breeding team of the Yeongdeok Branch, National Institute Crop Science, Rural Development Administration in 2014. This variety was derived from a cross between ‘Yeongdeog35’ with good eating quality and ‘Saekyehwa’ with good plant type in the 2002 summer season. A promising line selected through the pedigree breeding method, YR24269-1-2-1-2-3-3, was designated as ‘Yeongdeog57’ in 2011. After a local adaptability test at nine locations from 2012 to 2014, ‘Yeongdeog57’ was released under the name of ‘Yeongbo’ in 2014. ‘Yeongbo’ had a short culm length of 66 cm and medium growth duration. This variety was resistant to K1, K2, and K3 races of bacterial blight, rice stripe virus, and dwarf virus, and moderately resistant to leaf blast disease. ‘Yeongbo’ had translucent and clear milled rice kernel without white core and belly, and good eating quality according to a panel test. The yield potential of ‘Yeongbo’ in milled rice was approximately 5.75 MT/ha at an ordinary fertilizer level in the local adaptability test. This cultivar would be adaptable to middle plain area, south plain area, Yeongnam plain area, east costal area, and south mid-mountainous area. (Registration No.6804)

        첨착 활성탄을 활용한 산성가스 제거 연구

        In this study, the acid gas adsorption characteristics of impregnated AC, which increased the chemical activity of AC and improved selective adsorption for specific components, were studied using lap-scale experimental devices. The three types of AC (general, KOH and K₂CO₃ impregnated) were identified by the analysis of SEM, BET and TGA. It was found that the surface area and the mass loss rate of AC differed depending on the type of impregnation contents. Subsequently, Three types of AC were evaluated for adsorption performance according to temperature. In addition, 20 wt% KOH impregnated AC conducted adsorption and breakthrough point of SO₂ and NO₂ gases. The breakthrough point of SO₂ and NO₂ is 15 and 7 minutes, respectively. The results of the experiment shown th t the adsorption efficiency of the impregnated AC was higher than that of the AC and was proportional to the temperature.

        백서 좌골신경의 압좌상과 절제에 따른 말초신경 재생의 비교

        The purpose of this experimental study was to examine and compare the regeneration capacity between crushed nerve & transected nerve. For this study, 20 Sprague-Dawley female albino rats were used as experimental animals and divided into two groups. In group 1, the sciatic nerves were crushed 6mm. in length for 1 min. using maximum force with a needle holder. In group 2, the sciatic nerves were resected 6mm. in length and the gaps were encased by inserting the proximal and distal stumps into each end of silicone tubes. The animals were sacrificed 1 month & 2 months after the experiment. All specimens were fixed in 2.5% glutaraldehyde and 1% Osmium tetroxide solution then embedded in epon 812 and were cross-sectioned at 1 ㎛. After these procedures, specimens were observed under Light microscope. The results obtained were as follows. 1. Group 1 showed greter diameters of regenerating nerves than group 2. 2. Group 1 showed greater number of axons than group 2.

        복지국가 스웨덴의 지방자치 : 균형적 지역발전의 모델 A Model of Balanced Regional Development

        본 연구는 스웨덴의 독특한 지방자치를 대상으로 세가지 측면-역사면, 제도 및 운영면, 제정면-에서 분석되었다. 기존문헌과 통계자료를 비롯하여 스웨덴 현지방문에서 수거한 자료도 활용하였다. 주요한 분석내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 스웨덴 자치의 역사적 배경을 파악하기 위하여 그 원류를 추적하였다. 기원 후 수세기경에 존재하던 부락외의에서부터 오니르이 자치제도 정착에 이르기까지 그 연속과 변화과정을 정리하였다. 특히 1960년-1974년 기간중 두차례에 걸쳐 단행된 자치구역 통폐합의 의미와 효과를 진단하였다. 둘째, 현스웨덴 지방자치의 구조와 권능을 분석함으로써 스웨덴식 자치모델이 가지는 특성을 가려내고자 하였다. 이를 위해 정부의 조직과 행정편재를 점검하였고, 중앙·지방정부의 기능분담과 운영절차를 부석하였다. 정당·시민조직·지방정부 전국연합·이익집단 및 교회조직으로 연결되는 조합주의적 다자간 참여의 양태도 분석하였다. 셋째 지방자치권으 가장 주요한 권능인 재정기능을 분석하였다. 교육·복지·의료서비스 등 지방정부가 담당하는 사회적 기능의 역할과 규모를 설명하였다. 국민경제에서 차지하는 지방자치제의 수입지출비중 및 수겅 내역을 비롯하여 중앙정부와 지방정부간의 재정적 역학조정에 대해 분석하였다. This study has three major purposes. First, the research seeks to examine and explain the historical origin and backgrounds of the Swedish local autonomy. The second essential purpose is to throw light upon the institutional patterns and managerial performance as the recent local politics produce. The third research goal is focused on the financial management of the local government as well as the recent major advancement in the field of public finance. The study is, accordingly, composed of three part. The first part is an overview of the Swedish local autonomy from the historical perspective. This involves an investigation of how local democracy has changed ot continued in the course of last several decaded. Part two offers an analysis of the intergovernmental relations --IGR-- among the central and local governments in terms of function, power & resources. Oberservations are folloewed by the analysis of the particular types of decision-making process in the local government. The final part reveals a major role which the local government plays in delivering the welfare and public service. Discussed also is how financial policies are linked to the advancement of the balaced serviced delivery and the equilibrium development in the local governance. The research results is expected to enable us to understand the trends and prospects of the Swedish local development in political and socio-economic regards.

        임상소견에 따른 법랑모세포종의 방사선학적 특징에 관한 임상통계학적 분석

        The author studied on the 115 cases of the ameloblastoma which had been diagnosed with biopsy during the period of 1962 to 1994 at the Kyungpook National University Hospital, Pusan National University Hospital, Youngnam University Hospital, Keimyung University Hospital, Catholic Medical School Hospital, and Maryknol Hospital. This study contains the statistical analysis of the clinico-pathological findings such as sex, age, location, chief complaint, duration, treatment method, size, recurrence and impacted teeth in relation to radiographic findings. The results were as follows : 1. The incidence rate was 60% in .male and 40% in female. 2. At the time of diagnosis, the age of the patients ranged from 9 to 69 years old (average 31.4 years old). The cases of 73% were in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th decades of life. 3. The majority of cases, 88.7% occurred in the mandible, especially 59% in the mandibular angle area. 4. The most prevalent chief complaint of swelling was 56.5%. 5. As regards duration, the cases less than 12 months appeared 49.5%, and average duration is 30.45months. 6. Unilocular radiographic findings showed 43.5%, Multilocular radiographic findings appeared 56.5%. 7. Conservative treatment was performed 40.0%, and radical treatment was employed 60.0%. 8. There was the variation of lesional sizes between 2.0cm and 15cm, average size 6.19cm. 9. Recurrent cases were 28.7%, and impacted teeth were shown 30.43%. 10. The ratiographic finding has no relationship with the factors of age, location, chief complaint, recurrence and impacted teeth, however there is slight indication that the below 30-year-old patient tend to be related to the multilocular type. 11. The multilocular radiographic findings were shown more frequently in the groups of females, over average of 30.45 months, over average size of 6.19cm and radical treatment.

        SILICONE TUBE에 삽입된 신경절편이 말초신경 결손부의 재생에 미치는 효과

        The purpose of this study is to observe the stimulant effect of the isolated nerve segment on the peripheral nerve regeneration using silicone tube in rats. Srague-Dawley female albino rats were used as experimental animals and nerve defects were made by resection of 14 mm-long segment of right sciatic nerves. In control group, the defects were bridged with the silicone tubes. In experimental group, the defects were bridged with the same manner and additionally, 2mm-long nerve segments were inserted at the center of the silicone tubes. 3 months later, the regenerated nerve tissue within the silicone tubes were examined by histologic study. Axonal diameters and numbers of axons were measured and all data were analyzed by using SAS package program. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The experimental group was increased than the control group in general diameters of the regenerated nerve fiber.(P<0.05) 2. The diameters of axons were increased int he experimental group compare to the control group. (P<0.05) 3. The numbers of axons were increased int he experimental group compare to the control group. (P<0.05)

        The lamellar boundary orientations of directionally solidified(DS) ?? alloys were evaluated by the X-ray diffraction method. Some ternary and quarternary DS ingots were grown by the arc melted unidirectional solidification equipment without seed materials. Pole figure measurments were performed using above DS ingots and then inverse pole figures were calculated in order to analyze the aligned lamellar boundary directionions. It was found that the measured lamelae boundary orientations were between ø= 0˚ ∼ 55˚, and these results were coincident with the expected values, ø= 0˚ ∼ 45˚, Therefore, it could be suggested that the texture measurement was a beneficial method to analyze the lamellar boundary orientations of ?? DS ingots

        Thermal shock is a physical phenomenon that occurs during the exposure to rapidly high temperature and pressure changes or during quenching of a material. The rocket nozzle throat is exposed to combustion gas of high temperature. Therefore, it is important to select suitable materials having the appropriate thermal shock resistance and to evaluate these materials for rocket nozzle design. The material of this study is ATJ graphite, which is the candidate material for rocket nozzle throat. This study presents an experimental method to evaluate the thermal shock resistance and thermal shock fracture toughness of ATJ graphite using laser irradiation. In particular, thermal shock resistance tests are conducted with changes of specimen thickness, with laser source irradiated at the center of the specimen. Temperature distributions on the specimen surface are detected using type K and C thermocouples. SEM (scanning electron microscope) is used to observe the thermal cracks on specimen surface.
