      • Study on Horizontal Noncontact Positioning Control for a Magnetically Levitated Thin Steel Plate (Experimental Considerations on Elastic Vibration Control under Transport)

Narita, Takayoshi,Oshinoya, Yasuo,Hasegawa, Shinya The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2011 The Journal of International Council on Electrical Vol.1 No.3

Thin steel plates are widely used in various industrial products. However, they have th e problems of flaws in the coating caused by contact support during transport and the deteriorati on of surface quality. As a solution to these problems, a noncontact transport of steel plates usin g electromagnetic force has been considered. However, there is a risk that side slipping or the dr opping of the plate may occur owing to inertial force because the levitation control system does not provide a restraint for the direction of travel. Therefore, we have proposed the addition of el ectromagnetic actuators to control the horizontal motion of a levitated steel plate. In addition, we have reported that it is possible to suppress the elastic vibration of the steel plate in the vertical direction using the electromagnetic actuators for horizontal positioning. In this paper, the effect of a magnetic field from the horizontal direction on the transport performance of a magnetically levi tated flexible steel plate is reported.

Utilization of desktop 3D printer-fabricated "Cost-Effective" 3D models in orthognathic surgery

Narita, Masato,Takaki, Takashi,Shibahara, Takahiko,Iwamoto, Masashi,Yakushiji, Takashi,Kamio, Takashi Korean Association of Maxillofacial Plastic and Re 2020 Maxillofacial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Vol.42 No.-

Background: In daily practice, three-dimensional patient-specific jawbone models (3D models) are a useful tool in surgical planning and simulation, resident training, patient education, and communication between the physicians in charge. The progressive improvements of the hardware and software have made it easy to obtain 3D models. Recently, in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, there are many reports on the benefits of 3D models. We introduced a desktop 3D printer in our department, and after a prolonged struggle, we successfully constructed an environment for the "in-house" fabrication of the previously outsourced 3D models that were initially outsourced. Through various efforts, it is now possible to supply inexpensive 3D models stably, and thus ensure safety and precision in surgeries. We report the cases in which inexpensive 3D models were used for orthodontic surgical simulation and discuss the surgical outcomes. Review: We explained the specific CT scanning considerations for 3D printing, 3D printing failures, and how to deal with them. We also used 3D models fabricated in our system to determine the contribution to the surgery. Based on the surgical outcomes of the two operators, we compared the operating time and the amount of bleeding for 25 patients who underwent surgery using a 3D model in preoperative simulations and 20 patients without using a 3D model. There was a statistically significant difference in the operating time between the two groups. Conclusions: In this article, we present, with surgical examples, our in-house practice of 3D simulation at low costs, the reality of 3D model fabrication, problems to be resolved, and some future prospects.

Microenvironment around active sites of a bacterial trypsin - like protease

1985 BMB Reports Vol.12 No.4

A general procedure to analyze local environment of individual histidine residues in proteins is presented. This procedure is based on the hydrogen-tritium exchange reaction at the C3 position of the imidazole ring of histidine. Since the exchange reaction is pH-dependent, dissociation constant (pKa) of the imidazole of a histidine residue can be measured from the plot of the rate constant versus pH of the reaction medium. Deviation of pKa of the histidine residue in question from its intrinsic pKa suggests that the neighboring charged group is interacting with the histidine. The magnitude of the exchange rate constant corresponds to solvent accessibility of the imidazole ring of the histidine in the three-dimensional structure of the protein. Using these correlations local environment of individual histidine residues in ribonuclease T1 and a serine protease produced by Streptomyces ervthreus, whose three-dimensional structures are unknown, is discussed.

        ‘고향’이라는 이야기ㆍ再說 ― 20세기 후반의 ‘고향’과 관련하여

        나리타류이치 ( Narita Ryuichi ) 동국대학교 한국문학연구소 2006 한국문학연구 Vol.0 No.30

Although the issues surrounding ‘heimat’ face a turning point in the 1930s, the periods before and after the 1970s present other complex problems. The experience of ‘heimat’ in the 1930s reach narrative form in the 1950s; however, ‘heimat’ undergoes a re-definition in the 1970s - signaling the emergence of a more complex phase. This paper regards ‘heimat’ as an ‘imperial’ space based on the experience of the 1930s and deals with the 「heimat」 narrative of the late 20th century. Through such narratives it becomes evident the idea of ‘heimat’ is vital in overcoming hardships such as war, repatriation and detainment. Moreover, by organizing those experiences and creating narratives post-hoc, ‘heimat’ continues its influence on situations long over and binds people to these experiences through emotional aspects (this emotional experience is also responsible for identity crises). Heimat narratives continue to undergo changes in the late 20th century, in which commercialism - along with the state - also becomes part of the concept of ‘heimat’

Don Quixote in Carlos Fuentes` Terra nostra

Vol.0 No.80

In this article we will analyze the Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes` Terra nostra seeking the influence of Miguel de Cervantes and his character Don Quixote on this work. This novel describes the contrast of the Spain of the 16th and 17th centuries represented by the king Philip clinging to build a strong country of absolutism, with the fluctuating world symbolized by the "discovery" of the New World and the new way of thinking in Cervantes` context. In Terra nostra, Fuentes uses the literary characters of the Spanish Golden Age as a symbol of the resulting culture from the three religions` coexistence, which the Spain in the transition to the Modern Age sacrificed to establish the "only and absolute" nation, the philosophy of which is represented by the monastery El Escorial. To Fuentes, these characters are the art that "rescues the truth of the hand of falsehood", and they give readers a new vision to study History. Fuentes considers that the novels have to highlight the hidden side of reality so in Terra nostra he describes the hidden history of Spain and Mexico with a great cultural diversity apparently murdered by the "only" way to read the world or the reality.

      • A Multi-Depot Vehicle Routing Algorithm with Decomposition based on Minimum Spanning Thee

2009 ITC-CSCC :International Technical Conference on Ci Vol.2009 No.7

This paper presents a two phase algorithm for the Multi-depot vehicle routing problem. In the first phase, the initial customer assignment is obtained by the decomposition based on the minimum spanning tree and then iteratively optimized by tabu search. The delivery route is efficiently constructed by the saving method after the customer assignment. Moreover, we consider dynamic situation of VRP and utilize roe-optimization and partial optimization.

Analysis of Association between Norepinephrine Transporter Gene Polymorphisms and Personality Traits of NEO-FFI in a Japanese Population

        Shin Narita,Kazuhiko Iwahashi,Kenta Nagahori,Maki Numajiri,Eiji Yoshihara,Nobuyo Ohtani,Jun Ishigooka 대한신경정신의학회 2015 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.12 No.3

ObjectiveaaNorepinephrine is an important chemical messenger that is involved in mood and stress in humans, and is reabsorbed by the norepinephrine transporter (NET). According to Cloninger’s theory, the noradrenergic system mediates the personality trait of reward dependence. Thus far, although association studies on NET gene polymorphisms and Cloninger’s personality traits have been reported, they yielded inconsistent results. Therefore, in the present study we investigated whether or not the 1287G/A, -182T/C and -3081A/T polymorphisms of the NET gene (SLC6A2) are associated with reward dependence-related traits, as assessed by the five-factor model. MethodsaaAfter written informed consent was obtained from participants, the three NET gene polymorphisms were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP), and personality was assessed by the Neuroticism Extraversion Openness-Five Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) in 270 Japanese university students. ResultsaaA significant relation was found between the -3081A/T functional promoter polymorphism and NEO-FFI scores: those with the T allele exhibited a lower extraversion (E) score than those without the T allele (Mann-Whitney U-test: z=-3.861, p<0.001). However, there was no correlation between the other NET gene polymorphisms and E score, and no association with other dimensions and these three polymorphisms. ConclusionaaWe conclude that the -3081A/T functional polymorphism in the NET gene may affect the extraversion of reward dependence- related traits, as measured by NEO-FFI. However, we used only the shortened version of NEO-PI-R in this study. Further investigations are necessary using the full version of self-rating personality questionnaires.
