        전남 가거도의 식물상

        가거도는 전남 신안군 흑산면에 속하는 한국의 최서남단에 위치한 섬이다. 가거도의 관속식물은 93과 246속 289종7아종 36변종 9품종으로 총 341분류군으로 조사되었다. 열매가 노란색인 참식나무의 새로운 품종이 발견되어 노랑참식나무 Neolitsea sericea (Bl.) Koidz. for. koreana M. Kim 라고 명명하였다. 가거도의 특산식물은 흑산도비비추, 처진물봉선, 새끼노루귀, 개족도리풀 등 8종이 발견되었으며, 희귀 및 멸종위기식물은 박달목서와 으름난초 등 3종이 발견되었다. 식물지리학적으로 흥미있는 종은 푸른가막살, 가거꼬리고사리, 가거애기닥나무 등 9종이다. 귀화식물은 11종이며 귀화율은 3.2%이다. Vascular plants of Island Gageo in Jellonamdo were investigated 10 times from August, 2005 to August, 2011. In the result of survey, the flora of this island consists of 341 taxa totally; 93 families, 246 genera, 289 species, 7 subspecies, 36 varieties and 9 forms. Yellow-fruit bearing plants of Neolitsea sericea which were found in this island are newly named as Neolitsea sericea (Bl.) Koidz. for. koreana M. Kim. There were 8 Korean endemic plants such as Hosta yingeri, Impatiens furcillata, Saussurea pseudo-gracilis, etc. Also 3 Korean endangered species which is designating by Ministry of Environment such as Osmanthus insularis and Cyrtosia septentrionalis and 9 rare and remarkable species such as Viburnum japonicum, Asplenium yoshinagae, Broussonetia kazinoki for. koreana, etc. were found in this island. Furthermore, 11 taxa of naturalized plants (3.2%) were also observed in this island.

        In this paper, it is proposed to improve the robustness of the Fast Recursive Least Squares (FRLS) algorithms with the exponential weighting, which is an important class of algorithms for adaptive filtering. It is well known that the FRLS algorithm is numerically unstable with exponential weighting factor λ<1. However, introducing some gains into this algorithms, numerical errors can be reduced. A proper choice of the gains then leads to a numerically stable FRLS algorithm with a complexity of 8m mulitiplications and we shown it by computer simulations.

        상악 유전치부의 치간공간과 인접면 우식에 관한 조사연구

        본 연구는 상악 유전치부의 치간공간과 인접면 우식의 상관관계를 평가해보고자 하였다. 익산에 거주하는 만3-7세의 어린이 555명을 대상으로 하였으며 탐침이 통과하는지 여부로 치간공간이 있음과 없음으로 분류하였고 와동이 형성되었거나 법랑질 표면이 연화되었을 경우 인접면 우식이 존재하는 것으로 판단하였다. 연구 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 상악 유전치부의 치간공간은 영장류 공간이 77.4%, 발육공간이 유측절치와 유중절치 사이에서 54.4%, 양유중절치 사이에서 39.0%로 나타났다. 2. 인접면 우식발생율은 우측유견치가 6.3%, 우측유측절치가 14.7%, 우측유중절치가 33.5%, 좌측유중절치가 33.7%, 좌측유측절치가 16.0%, 좌측유견치가 4.7%로 나타났다. 3. 치간공간의 수가 많을수록 상악 유전치의 우식발생율은 낮아졌으나 그 상관관계(r=0.024)는 미약하였다. 4. 상악 유전치부에 공간이 존재하지 않을 경우 존재할 때 보다 평균 우식발생율이 높았으며, 치간공간이 전혀 존재하지 않는 경우 한 곳이라도 치간공간이 존재하는 경우보다 평균 우식발생율이 2배 이상 높은 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between interdental spaces and proximal caries in maxillary anterior primary teeth. 555 children aged 3-7 inhabit in Iksan were divided into two groups, depending on the presence of interdental space which was detected by a dental explorer. They were determined to have proximal caries if cavity was formed or the enamel surface was softened. The results were as follows : 1. Regarding interdental spaces, 77.4% had primate spaces; 54.4% had developmental spaces between central and lateral incisor, and 39.0% between central incisors. 2. Interproximal caries incidences in right primary canine, lateral incisor, and central incisor were 6.3%, 14.7%, and 33.5%, respectively. Also interproximal caries incidences in left primary central incisor, lateral incisor, and canine were 33.7%, 16.0%, and 4.7%, respectively. 3. Children with more interdental spaces had less caries incidence, but the relationship was weak(r=-0.024). 4. The mean caries incidence was higher in absence of interdental space of maxillary primary incisors than in presence of space. The mean caries incidence with no interdental space was twice as high as that with presence of interdental space.

        Conditions for processing dried condiments with bloody clam were investigated. The enzymatic hydrolysis for 1 hour was more profitable than hydrothermal extraction to develop flavoring matters from bloody clam. As a result of omission tests, nucleotides were predominated in the taste compounds of bloody clam hydrolysates rather than free amino acids, and the contribution of nucleotides and free amino acids to the taste of bloody clam hydrolysates was remarkable. The major flavoring components of bloody clam hydrolysates were free amino acids and oligopeptides below 500 dalton. When bloody clam hydrolysates were separated with membrane(molecular weight cutoff 500 dalton) for recovering flavor, recovering yields of amino type nitrogen were 92.4%. Proximate compositions of dried condiments prepared with protease hydrolyzed bloody clam were moisture content 3.6%, total nitrogen were 71.2% amino nitrogen were 47.8%. And drying yield, solubility and absorption rates at Aw 0.88 were 21.4%. 86.3% and 6.6%, respectively.

        우리나라 어린이와 청소년의 구강건강을 위한 공공서비스의 현황과 전망

        소아치과학이 목표로 하는 어린이와 청소년의 구강건강을 달성하기 위하여는 민간 치과의료기관에서 내원 환자를 대상으로 하는 진료만으로는 한계가 있으며 공공서비스(公共service)의 역할이 필요하다. 학교구강보건설이 설치된 초등학교는 전체의 7.2%이었고,초등학교 중에서 불소용액양치사업을 수행한 비율은 57.5%, 급식 후 집단잇솔질을 한 비율은 46.9%이었으며,초등학생 중에서 구강보건교육을 받은 비율은 48.0%, 치아홈메우기를 받은 비율은 12.4%이었다(2006년). 0∼6세 영유아의 약 42%가 지난 1년간 구강검진,불소도포,치면세마,치아홈메우기 중 하나 이상의 예방적 치과진료를 받았으며,받은 장소는 교육시설이 약 18%, 보건소가 약 1%이었다(2005년). 불소농도가 조정된 수돗물을 마시는 인구 비율은 전국 평균이 5.7%이었다(2006년). 학교구강보건사업의 발전을 위해서 행정의 일원화,보건교사에 대한 교육,구강보건교사제도의 도입,순회 학교치과의사와 학교치과병원을 통한 포괄적 진료서비스의 제공 등을 고려할 수 있을 것이다. 또한 아동·청소년 주치의제의 도입으로 민간기관을 통해 공공서비스를 강화하는 방안이 검토되고 있다. To achieve the dental health of children and adolescents which is the objective of the pediatric dentistry, the role of the public service should be increased. The basis of the public service is established by many laws of which the Dental Health Law is most important. The percentages of primary schools that had the school dental health clinic, that implemented the fluoride rinsing program, and that implemented the group toothbrushing after lunch were 7.2%, 57.5%, and 46.9%, respectively, and the percentages of primary school children that received the dental health education and that received the fissure sealing were 48.0% and 12.4%, respective1y(2006). About 42% of infants and preschool children from 0 to 6 years received preventive dental care in the last one year, at the nursery or kindergarten(18%) or at the health center(1%)(2005). The percentage of the health centers that implemented water fluohdation was 11.3%, and the percentage of the population who drank the fluoridated water was 5.7 %(2006). It was suggested that the school dental health administration should be unified, that dental health teachers should be employed, and that the comprehensive dental health care should be supplied to all the children and adolescents through the circuit school dentists and the school dental hospitals in the long term. Also, the dentist in charge system for the children and adolescent was suggested.

        Quercetin의 식물병원성 세균인 Xanthomonas campestris에 대한 선택적 살균활성

        Quercetin is a major flavonoid in onion and known to antimicrobial activity against several pathogenic bacteria. However, the antibacterial activity of quercetin had not been evaluated against plant pathogenic Xanthomonas campestris and Erwinia carotovora. In here, quercetin and the solvent extracts of onion were investigated their antibacterial activity. Quercetin showed a selective inhibitory activity against X. campestris, and the minimal inhibition concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration of quercetin were 15.6 and 20.0 μg mL−1 respectively. Otherwise, it showed no inhibitory activity against E. carotovora, and no the additive and the synergistic effects with streptomycin on X. campestris. And the EtOAc extract from the peel of onion that contained quercetin showed 2-fold lower MIC (500 μg mL−1) than the EtOH extract, thus EtOAc was suggested as the extraction solvent for quercetin from onion peel.

        Synthesis of a pH-Sensitive PEO-Based Block Copolymer and its Application for the Stabilization of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles

        <P>PEO-based amphiphilic block copolymers that exhibit a pH responsive phase transition behavior are synthesized. The amphiphilic block copolymers show sharp phase transitions in the physiological pH (7.2) range of aqueous media. The block copolymers were efficient stabilizers for the preparation of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles in aqueous media. The resulting iron oxide nanoparticles in the size range of 5–30 nm showed a relatively good <TEX>$T_2^* $</TEX> image on the basis of the results on their phantom test.       • Hypothalamic Angptl4/Fiaf Is a Novel Regulator of Food Intake and Body Weight

        <P><B>OBJECTIVE</B></P><P>The angiopoietin-like protein 4 (Angptl4)/fasting-induced adipose factor (Fiaf) is known as a regulator of peripheral lipid and glucose metabolism. In the present study, we investigated the physiological role of Angptl4 in central regulation of body weight homeostasis.</P><P><B>RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS</B></P><P>Hypothalamic Angptl4 expression levels were measured using immunoblot assay during feeding manipulation or after administration of leptin, insulin, and nutrients. The effects of Angptl4 on food intake, body weight, and energy expenditure were determined following intracerebroventricular (ICV) administration of Angptl4 in C57BL/6 mice. Food intake, energy metabolism, and feeding responses to leptin, insulin, and nutrients were compared between Angptl4-null mice and their wild littermates. Finally, the relationship of hypothalamic AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and Angptl4 was studied.</P><P><B>RESULTS</B></P><P>Hypothalamic Angptl4 expression levels were increased upon food intake or administration of leptin, insulin, and nutrients. Furthermore, central administration of Angptl4 suppressed food intake and body weight gain but enhanced energy expenditure. These effects were mediated via suppression of hypothalamic AMPK activities. Consistently, Angptl4-null mice displayed increased body weight and hypothalamic AMPK activity but reduced energy expenditure. Food intake following a fast was significantly greater in Angptl4-null mice, which was normalized by centrally administered Angptl4. Moreover, anorectic responses to leptin, insulin, and glucose were diminished in Angptl4-null mice. In contrast, Angptl4-null mice were resistant to diet-induced obesity, indicating obesity-promoting effects of Angptl4 under the condition of fat-enriched diet.</P><P><B>CONCLUSIONS</B></P><P>We have demonstrated that hypothalamic Angptl4 is regulated by physiological appetite regulators and mediates their anorexigenic effects via inhibition of hypothalamic AMPK activity. Therefore, Angptl4 appears to have an important role in central regulation of energy metabolism.</P>

        Myometrial relaxation of mice via expression of two pore domain acid sensitive K<sup>+</sup> (TASK-2) channels

        Myometrial relaxation of mouse via expression of two-pore domain acid sensitive (TASK) channels was studied. In our previous report, we suggested that two-pore domain acid-sensing $K^+$ channels (TASK-2) might be one of the candidates for the regulation of uterine circular smooth muscles in mice. In this study, we tried to show the mechanisms of relaxation via TASK-2 channels in marine myometrium. Isometric contraction measurements and patch clamp technique were used to verify TASK conductance in murine myometrium. Western blot and immunehistochemical study under confocal microscopy were used to investigate molecular identity of TASK channel. In this study, we showed that TEA and 4-AP insensitive non-inactivating outward $K^+$ current (NIOK) may be responsible for the quiescence of murine pregnant longitudinal myometrium. The characteristics of NIOK coincided with two-pore domain acid-sensing $K^+$ channels (TASK-2). NIOK in the presence of $K^+$ channel blockers was inhibited further by TASK inhibitors such as quinidine, bupivacaine, lidocaine, and extracellular acidosis. Furthermore, oxytocin and estrogen inhibited NIOK in pregnant myometrium. When compared to non-pregnant myometrium, pregnant myometrium showed stronger inhibition of NIOK by quinidine and increased immunohistochemical expression of TASK-2. Finally, TASK-2 inhibitors induced strong myometrial contraction even in the presence of L-methionine, a known inhibitor of stretch-activated channels in the longitudinal myometrium of mouse. Activation of TASK-2 channels seems to play an essential role for relaxing uterus during pregnancy and it might be one of the alternatives for preventing preterm delivery.
