        레이저와 2차원 배열의 광전검출기를 이용한 구조물의 변위측정 시스템의 개발에 관한 연구

        일반적으로 구조물은 외부의 정적 및 동적 하중과 외부환경으로 인하여 피로균열과 부식이 발생하며, 이것은 구조물의 변형을 유발하여 결국 파단으로 이어지기 때문에 균열과 부식의 검출 및 평가와 함께 구조물의 변형에 의한 진동, 변위 기울기와 같은 거동을 감시하는 것도 매우 중요하다. 이에 레이저 센서 시스템을 이용하여 이러한 거동을 측정하여 이상 유무를 모니터링할 수 있는 구조물 안전감시 시스템을 개발하였다. 본 시스템은 2차원으로 배열한 광전센서를 이용하여 구조물의 변형에 의해 유발된 광궤적의 변화를 감시하며 또한 데이터를 취득하고 신호처리 할 수 있는 운용 프로그램도 갖추고 있다. 본 연구에서는 개발한 안전 진단 시스템의 필드 적용에 앞서 실험실에서의 몇 가지 실험을 통하여 그 효용성을 검증하였다. A Safety Monitoring System using a laser and 2-D arrayed photo sensors is developed. To monitor of the deformation and small rotation of structure the developed optical system using 2-D photo sensor array was used to detect the variation of optical orbit of laser which was induced by deformation of the structure. Also, an operating program to manage the system and an algorithm for the data acquisition and the database are introduced. In this study, we demonstrated the capabilities of this system by laboratory experiments before applying the system to the field.

      • HFC-134a와 대체냉매 HFC-152a에 CF_3I를 혼합한 자동차냉매 특성

        These days, an attention of environment has been increasing all over the world. to prevent the green house effect and destruction of an ozone layer, an ozone destruction potential(ODP) be zero and a refrigerant for low global warming potential(GWP) is needed. HFC-134a, in which hydrogen is mixed instead of chlorine is a refrigerant used for automobile conditioners and its destruction potential is ecologically zero. However, it is not considered as a perfect substitutive refrigerant as its GWP is high. It is studied refrigerant mixtures in which HFC-134a, HFC-152a and CF_3I with low GWP and zero ODP are mixed by experimentally and concluded as follows; 1. with the variation of speed of compressor outside temperature and flow rate, the heat of evaporator and compressor and coefficient of performance was varied, and influenced the air conditioner. 2. The pressure of evaporator was decreased with increasing the speed of compressor and that of the refrigerant HFC-134a was higher 21% than that of azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I. The overall capacity of condensor and evaporator was increased and HGC-134a was higher than azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I 3. The capacity of evaporator with the refrigerant HFC-134a was higher 6% than azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF31 and the required power with zaotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I was higher 11% than that of HFC-134a. 4. The COP of the refrigerant FHC-134a was higher 31% in 1000RPM. when outside temperature was increased, COP was decreased. 5. Performance of HFC-134a is better than azotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I but prefered zaotrope refrigerant mixed with CF_3I considering the environment.

      • An increase in mouse tumor growth by an <i>in vivo</i> immunomodulating effect of titanium dioxide nanoparticles

        <P>Here, we investigated whether titanium dioxide (TiO<SUB>2</SUB>) nanoparticles affect <I>in vivo</I> tumor growth through the modulation of mononuclear leukocytes. <I>In vitro</I> lymphocyte proliferation by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or concanavalin A (ConA) was reduced by < 25 ??nm TiO<SUB>2</SUB> with a dose-dependent manner. Similarly, TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles inhibited nitric oxide (NO) production from bone marrow-derived macrophages obtained from naï챦ve mice. When mice were intraperitoneally (IP) injected with < 25 or < 100 ??nm TiO<SUB>2</SUB> once a day for 7 days, total cell number of splenocytes was reduced in the spleen of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticle-exposed mice. Both CD4<SUP>++</SUP> and CD8<SUP>++</SUP> T-lymphocyte numbers were significantly decreased and B-lymphocyte development was retarded by host exposure to the TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles. LPS-stimulated spleen cell proliferation was significantly reduced by host exposure to < 25 or < 100 ??nm TiO<SUB>2</SUB>, but no changes were detected in ConA-stimulated spleen cell proliferation. Further, LPS-stimulated cytokine production by peritoneal macrophages and the percentage of NK1.1<SUP>++</SUP> natural killer cells among splenocytes was reduced by the host exposures to the TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles. When mice were IP injected with TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles once a day for 28 days prior to the subcutaneous implantation of B16F10 melanoma cells, tumor growth was subsequently significantly increased. Collectively, these results show that TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles may damage the development and proliferation of B- and T-lymphocytes, reduce the activity of macrophages, and decrease natural killer (NK) cell population levels, outcomes that appear to lead to an increase in tumor growth <I>in situ</I>. These studies allow us to suggest that TiO<SUB>2</SUB> nanoparticles might have the potential to enhance tumor growth through immunomodulation of B- and T-lymphocytes, macrophages, and NK cells.</P>

        Intracavity frequency doubling of a slab Nd:YAG laser pumped by high power diode laser array

        A high power diode-array-pumped slab Nd:YAG laser is described. The resonator consists of three mirrors in folded geometry. The laser is operated in acousto-optic Q-switching mode and intracavity frequency doubling is tried. We demonstrate that the laser exhibits frequency doubling efficiency of ∼60% with a type I LBO crystal.

      • Pre-clinical studies of retrovirally transduced human chondrocytes expressing transforming growth factor-beta-1 (TG-C)

        <P>BACKGROUND AIMS: The aim was to evaluate cartilage regeneration in animal models involving induced knee joint damage. Through cell-mediated gene therapy methods, a cell mixture comprising a 3:1 ratio of genetically unmodified human chondrocytes and transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-beta1)-secreting human chondrocytes (TG-C), generated via retroviral transduction, resulted in successful cartilage proliferation in damaged regions. METHODS: Non-clinical toxicology assessments for efficacy, biodistribution and local/systemic toxicity of single intra-articular administration of the cell mixture in mice, rabbits and goats was conducted. RESULTS: Administration of the mixture was tolerated well in all of the species. There was evidence of cartilage proliferation in rabbits and goats. As an additional precautionary step, the efficacy of TGF-beta1 secretion in irradiated human chondrocytes was also demonstrated. CONCLUSIONS: Four studies in rabbits and goats demonstrated the safety and efficacy of TG-C following direct intra-articular administration in animal models involving induced knee joint damage. Based on these pre-clinical studies authorization has been received from the USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to proceed with an initial phase I clinical study of TG-C for degenerative arthritis.</P>

        Cr⁴+ : YAG 포화 흡수체를 이용한 레이저 다이오드 뒷면 여기 Nd : YAG 레이저의 들뜸 효율 및 Q-switching 특성 연구

        레이저 다이오드 뒷면 여기 방식을 이용한 Nd:YAG 레이저를 제작하고, 뒷면 여기 방식을 이용하였을 때, 들뜸 효율을 측정하였다. 포화 흡수체로 Cr⁴+:YAG를 레이저 공진기 내부에 설치하여 수동형 Q-switching을 수행하였고, 그 때, 평균 출력, 펄스폭 및 반복율 특성등을 조사하였다. 수동형 Q-switching된 레이저의 펄스폭 및 반복율은 평균 출력 및 Cr⁴+:YAG결정의 낮은 강도 투과율(low intensity transmission)에 따라 변화하였으며, 평균 출력은 최고 1W, 펄스폭은 최저 51 nsec까지 얻을 수 있었고 최고 약 40㎑의 고반복율로 동작하는 것을 관찰하였다. Passively Q-switched, laser diode(LD) end-pumped Nd:YAG laser was demonstrated by using Cr⁴+:YAG as a saturable absorber. In addition, we could calculate an excitation efficiency, which is an important parameter to evaluate the pumping geometry, directly by measuring the absorbed power in Nd:YAG at threshold condition. We found that output parameters such as average power, pulse duration, and repetition rate strongly depended on the low intensity transmission of Cr⁴+:YAG and driving current of laser diode. The maximum Q-switched output power of 1 W was obtained with 40㎑ repetition rate. The pulse duration was varied from 50 ns to 200 ns.

      • Genome-wide analyses of late pollen-preferred genes conserved in various rice cultivars and functional identification of a gene involved in the key processes of late pollen development

        <P><B>Background</B></P><P>Understanding late pollen development, including the maturation and pollination process, is a key component in maintaining crop yields. Transcriptome data obtained through microarray or RNA-seq technologies can provide useful insight into those developmental processes. Six series of microarray data from a public transcriptome database, the Gene Expression Omnibus of the National Center for Biotechnology Information, are related to anther and pollen development.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>We performed a systematic and functional study across the rice genome of genes that are preferentially expressed in the late stages of pollen development, including maturation and germination. By comparing the transcriptomes of sporophytes and male gametes over time, we identified 627 late pollen-preferred genes that are conserved among japonica and indica rice cultivars. Functional classification analysis with a MapMan tool kit revealed a significant association between cell wall organization/metabolism and mature pollen grains. Comparative analysis of rice and <I>Arabidopsis</I> demonstrated that genes involved in cell wall modifications and the metabolism of major carbohydrates are unique to rice. We used the <I>GUS</I> reporter system to monitor the expression of eight of those genes. In addition, we evaluated the significance of our candidate genes, using T-DNA insertional mutant population and the CRISPR/Cas9 system. Mutants from T-DNA insertion and CRISPR/Cas9 systems of a rice gene encoding glycerophosphoryl diester phosphodiesterase are defective in their male gamete transfer.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Through the global analyses of the late pollen-preferred genes from rice, we found several biological features of these genes. First, biological process related to cell wall organization and modification is over-represented in these genes to support rapid tube growth. Second, comparative analysis of late pollen preferred genes between rice and <I>Arabidopsis</I> provide a significant insight on the evolutional disparateness in cell wall biogenesis and storage reserves of pollen. In addition, these candidates might be useful targets for future examinations of late pollen development, and will be a valuable resource for accelerating the understanding of molecular mechanisms for pollen maturation and germination processes in rice.</P><P><B>Electronic supplementary material</B></P><P>The online version of this article (10.1186/s12284-018-0219-0) contains supplementary material, which is available to authorized users.</P>

        The risk factors for herpes zoster in bortezomib treatment in patients with multiple myeloma

        <P><B>Background</B></P><P>Bortezomib has significant activity in treating multiple myeloma (MM). The risk of herpes zoster (HZ) has been reported to increase significantly with bortezomib treatment, but the predisposing factors for HZ are not clear. This study is a retrospective analysis of the relevant risk factors for HZ in Korean MM patients treated with bortezomib.</P><P><B>Methods</B></P><P>Sixty-six patients with refractory or relapsed MM who underwent chemotherapy with bortezomib were included in the study. Prophylactic antiviral drugs were not used for treatment. The following parameters were reviewed: age, gender, stage and type of MM, extent of previous treatment, history of HZ, duration from the time of diagnosis to the time of bortezomib treatment initiation, and absolute lymphocyte counts (ALC) at the time of bortezomib treatment initiation.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>The incidence of HZ was 16.7%. There were no intergroup differences between the HZ-positive and the HZ-negative groups with regard to a history of HZ, number of previous treatments, and exposure to steroids before bortezomib treatment. The median duration from the time of MM diagnosis to the time of bortezomib treatment initiation in the HZ-positive group was significantly shorter than that in the HZ-negative group. The median ALC at the time of bortezomib initiation in the HZ-positive group was significantly lower than that in the HZ-negative group.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>Bortezomib itself might act as a risk factor for HZ by inhibiting cell-mediated immunity, and patients with low ALC at the time of bortezomib treatment initiation were at greater risk of HZ during bortezomib treatment.</P>
