        After training for 12 weeks by program of circuit training for 30 Ssireum players in Y high school, Daegu, results were gotten as follows through comparison and analyzation of change of physical strength before and after the training; 1. Muscle Strength It Increased 4.47 times as 11.00 times after power clean training, from 6.53 times before the training, therefore It showed very significant difference as p<,01. And It increased 4.10 times as 12.01 times after military press from 7.97 times before the training, therefore It showed very significant difference as p<.001 2. Starting Power It Increased 4.78㎝ as 58.61㎝ after high jump training from 53.83㎝ before the training, therefore it showed very significant difference as p<.001. And It Increased 20.58㎝ as 205.70㎝ after long jump training from 185.12㎝ before the training, therefore It showed very significant difference as p<.001. 3. Endurance Power It Increased 7.2 times as 38.80 times after Burpee test training from 31.60 times, therefore It showed statistically significant result as p<.01, but showed no significant difference In situps. 4. Balancing it showed no significant difference in blind standing on one foot as p>.05 neither in frog standing as p>.05. 5. Flexibility It increased 4.19㎝ as 20.3㎝ after anterior flexibility training from 16.1 ㎝ before the training, therefore it showed significant difference as p<.05. And it increased 4.74㎝ as 50.0㎝ after posterior flexibility training from 45.2㎝ before the training, therefore it showed statistical significant difference as p<.0l. 6.Agility It snowed no significant difference with average of 0.05 seconds in Burpeetest, neither in round running with difference of average of 0.09 seconds.

      • 아동보육 및 교육관련시설에 대한 어머니의 만족도

        The purpose of this study was to investigate mother's contentment degree of the institutions related to child care and education. The subjects were 463 mothers with children enrolled in the institutions related to child care and education, who lived in T city. The frequency, percentile, means, x^(2) test, ANOVA and Scheffe´-test were used for data - analysis. The major findings showed that (1) mothers with children enrolles in the institutions related to child care and education more importantly perceived the distance to home, regular and consistency education, sociality development than factors when they choose a institution. (2) the degree of satisfaction of mothers with children enrolled in the institutions related to child care and education were significant differences in the teaching tools, facilities and equipments. (3) the degree of satisfaction of mothers with children enrolled in the institutions related to child care and education were no significant differences in the teacher's quality, relationship to teachers. (4) the degree of satisfaction of mothers with children enrolled in the institutions related to child care and education were significant differences in the general management(hours of operation, cost, etc.). (5) the degree of satisfaction of mothers with children enrolled in the institutions related to child care and education were significant differences in the nutrition, safety, care.

        유병기간에 따른 한국인 파킨슨병 환자의 영양소 섭취 상태 및 식사의 질에 관한 연구

        Both genetic and environmental factors play important roles in the pathogenesis of Parkinson Disease (PD). The contribution of many environmental factors including dietary factor remains unproven. The purpose the study was to investigate the dietary habits, nutrient intake and dietary quality of Korean PD patients according to the duration of disease. PD patients were recruited from K and S university hospitals from May 2005 to January 2006. This study was carried out after approval by the Institute Review Board (IRB). British Brain Bank criteria was used to diagnose PD. The subjects were classified into 2 groups based on the duration of PD: < 25 months and ≥ 25 months groups. General characteristics, anthropometric measurements, food habits and dietary intakes were investigated. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The mean age of < 25 months group (66.9 ± 8.0 yr) was significantly higher than that of ≥ 25 months group (62.2 ± 8.8 yr) (p < 0.05). No significant differences were found for academic background, occupation, living status and social activity, however, numbers of diseases, exercise and family history of PD were significantly different. 2) Anthropometric measurements were not different between the two groups. 3) The frequency of taking snacks was significantly higher in < 25 months group and the amounts of alcohol consumption were significantly higher in ≥ 25 months group. 4) Daily intakes of most nutrients were very low compared with DRI. 5) The MAR score was significantly lower in < 25 months group (p < 0.05;) however, the scores of DVS, DDS and DQI were not significantly different. As a conclusion an overall nutrient intake and dietary quality of the Parkinson's Disease patients need to be improved regardless of duration of the disease and a well-balanced diet should be emphasized.

      • Evaluation of the prognostic significances of γ-secretase genes in pancreatic cancer

        <P>With the growing requirement for novel prognostic biomarkers for pancreatic cancer, many studies have focused on clinical and/or genomic variables. Although many studies have been performed, carbohydrate antigen 19-9 is the only biomarker in clinical use. Therefore, the present study examined whether γ-secretase genes, including presenilin (<I>PSEN</I>), nicastrin (<I>NCSTN</I>), presenilin enhancer protein 2 (<I>PSENEN</I>), and anterior pharynx-defective 1 (<I>APH1</I>-), could serve as prognostic factors for pancreatic cancer. The cohorts selected included >100 pancreatic cancer patients. Patient data were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GSE21501). The prognostic roles of the γ-secretase genes were analyzed by several survival analysis methods. Among the γ-secretase genes, the prognosis tended to be worse in the 2 cohorts with increasing expression of <I>PSEN1, APH1A</I>, and <I>PSENEN</I>, while the remaining genes were the opposite in the 2 cohorts. Notably, although the patient characteristics were quite different, <I>APH1A</I> was statistically significantly associated with prognosis in the 2 cohorts. The hazard ratio of <I>APH1A</I> for overall survival was 1.598 (TCGA) and 2.724 (GSE21501). These results contribute to the study of γ-secretase in pancreatic cancer. We believe that γ-secretase, particularly <I>APH1A</I>, will be a new prognostic biomarker for pancreatic cancer.</P>

        Silicone Granuloma Mimicking a Lymphatic Metastasis in a Lung Cancer Patient: A Case Report

        Silicone granulomas are rare, benign lesions that may occur after breast augmentation. Occasionally, a careful differential diagnosis is necessary because lymphadenopathy or malignancy is suspected based on an imaging study. A 56-year-old woman who visited the hospital due to a lung nodule in the left upper lobe (LUL) underwent a staging work-up with the suspicion of lung cancer. Positron emission tomography/computed tomography and chest computed tomography revealed the LUL nodule and a lesion in the left internal mammary chain (IMC), suggesting lymphadenopathy. Diagnostic wedge resection was performed, followed by curative surgery. The final biopsy result confirmed that the LUL nodule was pathologic stage IB adenocarcinoma; unexpectedly, the lesion in the left IMC was a silicone granuloma.

      • Analysis of Candidate Genes for Grain Weight Traits Using NILs from An Interspecific Cross in Rice

        Grain weight is the most important target not only as a major component of grain yield, but also of the cooking qualities in rice breeding program. In a previous study, a high-resolution physical map targeting a cluster of yield-related QTLs for grain weight, spikelets per panicle has been constructed using series of BC3F4 nearly isogenic lines (NILs) derived from a cross between the Korean japonica cultivar Hwaseong and O. rufipogon. The QTLs including grain weight trait have been mapped in a 25.5kb region containing three genes. Based on GenBank database, these genes include male sterility 5 (OsMs5, LOC_Os09g36740), similar ascorbate peroxidase (OsApx, LOC_Os09g36750) and glutelin family protein (OsGlu, LOC_Os09g36760). Their endogenous expression patterns were analyzed in various rice tissues (2-week seedling, flag leaf, root and panicle) from the parental lines, Hwaseong and NIL-gw9. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR and qRT-PCR were performed using gene specific primer sets. The cDNAs of the similar OsApx gene of Hwaweong and NIL-gw9 were cloned. Over-expression and RNAi knock-down transgenic plants using three genes are under construction for the functional characterization of the genes. The results will be discussed.

      • Effect of embedded metal nanocrystals on the resistive switching characteristics in NiN-based resistive random access memory cells

        <P>The metal nanocrystals (NCs) embedded-NiN-based resistive random access memory cells are demonstrated using several metal NCs (i.e., Pt, Ni, and Ti) with different physical parameters in order to investigate the metal NC's dependence on resistive switching (RS) characteristics. First, depending on the electronegativity of metal, the size of metal NCs is determined and this affects the operating current of memory cells. If metal NCs with high electronegativity are incorporated, the size of the NCs is reduced; hence, the operating current is reduced owing to the reduced density of the electric field around the metal NCs. Second, the potential wells are formed by the difference of work function between the metal NCs and active layer, and the barrier height of the potential wells affects the level of operating voltage as well as the conduction mechanism of metal NCs embedded memory cells. Therefore, by understanding these correlations between the active layer and embedded metal NCs, we can optimize the RS properties of metal NCs embedded memory cells as well as predict their conduction mechanisms.         Genetic Analysis and Mapping of Genes for Culm Length and Internode Diameter in Progeny from an Interspecific Cross in Rice

        In this study, two near-isogenic lines (NILs) were selected from a series of chromosome segment substitution lines developed from an interspecific cross between Oryza sativa ssp. japonica cultivar ‘Hwaseongbyeo’ as a recipient parent and wild rice (Oryza grandiglumis) as the donor parent. Compared with Hwaseongbyeo control, one NIL (CR222) had reduced plant height and the other NIL (CR7501) displayed thicker basal and first internodes leading to increased lodging tolerance in the field condition. QTL analysis using progeny from crosses between Hwaseongbyeo and the NILs indicated that QTL for culm length and internode diameter leading to erect panicle were located on chromosomes 1 and 2, respectively. The major QTL for culm length on chromosome 1 was allelic to sd1 locus and the NIL showed the same sequence as the sd1 mutant cultivar ‘Reimei’. The QTL for the internode diameter was delimited to a 1-Mbp region on chromosome 2 and this QTL region harbors GW2 gene controlling grain width. The NIL with thick internode trait showed no undesirable pleiotropic effects and therefore has potential value for rice breeding for increasing lodging resistance.
