        As commercial Band stockings are one of the high-demanded feminine clothes and agree on the consumer's wearing aim to express the beautiful legs. This study examined on stocking-wearing and a physical ability with three subjects of more or less different sizes to contribute to improving quality by studying the elements which spoil the external appearance in wearing stockings in consideration of the adaptation rate of human body. The results are as follows. Because stockings were circular in shape their elongation in static pose depended on the shape of subjects' legs, and each elongation of the samples was against of the size : Multi > Support > Mono. In the variation of stockings in active, the order of bandloosement on the femoral region : Multi > Support > Mono and subject A < subject C < subject B. And in transformation rate of knee's motion the order of that was Mono > Multi > support, while in Mono and Multi the order was subject B < subject A < subject C and in support stockings that was subject A < subject B < sujbect C. In the transformation rate of ankle's motion, the orders were Multi < Support < Mono and subject A < subject B < subject C. The stocking-crossing in repeated action revealed fewer in the curse direction than in the wale. The orders of course direction-crossing were Mono > Multi > Support and subject A > subject B > subject C. The orders of wale direction crossing were subject B > subject A > subject C on the knees and subject A > subject B > subject C and Mono > Multi > Support on the front of ankles-the crossing on the front of ankles was lower than one on the back of ankles. The elongation of stockings was higher in the course direction than in the wale and the order of that was usually welt < leg < band, but the orders were Multi > Support > Mono on the legs and Mono > Support > Multi on the band. The rate of elastic recovery of elongation was higher in the wale direction than in the course and the order of each sample was Support > Mono > Multi. The orders of the Snag rate were Support(4.5grade) < Mono(2grade) < Multi(1.5grade) in normal state, and Support(5 grade) < Mono. Multi(4 grade) in double stretch. Finally the loosement, crossing, Snag and so on which spoil the external appearance depend on size and materials of the stockings. Therefore, my opinion is that the range of consumers'selecting stocking-size must be wide and varied, and the studies must be achieved about the shape and each elongation of stockings and the elastic recovery.

      • 연료정책에 따른 대기오염 개선효과 분석에 관한 연구 : 대구지역을 중심으로

        청정연료와 저유황유의 공급확대에 따른 대구지역의 대기오염 개선효과를 분석하기 위하여 향후 1996, 2001년 대구지역의 유종별, 소비부문별 소비량을 추정하고 이에 따른 아황산가스, 분진, 질소산화물 및 일산화탄소에 대한 배출량을 각각 산정하였다. 특히 향후 대구지역 대기중 아황산가스농도에 대하여 개정된 환경기준치의 달성가능성 여부를 연간 총배출량측면에서 검토한 결과 2001년의 아황산가스 배출량이 추정된 허용배출량 이하로 떨어질 것으로 나타나 저황유의 공급과 청정연료 사용의무화정책을 현재 계획대로 추진할 경우 아황산가스 농도는 대체로 환경기준을 충분히 달성할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. A study was carried out to evaluate the improvement of air quality in Taegu area in the years of 1996 and 2001 with the extended supply of cleaner fuels such as town gas and low sulfur fuel oil. The emission quantities of the air pollutants from the combustion of various fuel were estimated with respect to the sections of end-use in this area. With the implementation of the planned fuel policy to this area, the level of sulfur dioxide in the ambient air will satisfy the revised ambient air quality standard based on the yearly total quantity of the sulfur dioxide emission. If the fuel policy is implemented as scheduled, the attainability of the ambient air quality standard of sulfur dioxide will be possible as the total quantity of sulfur dioxide emission will be well below of that of the predicted value obtained under current fuel policy.

        Synergistic effects of simvastatin and bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells on hepatic fibrosis

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The beneficial effects of simvastatin on fibrosis in various organs have been reported. In addition, bone marrow (BM)-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been suggested as an effective therapy for hepatic fibrosis and cirrhosis. Recent evidence suggests that pharmacological treatment devoted to regulating stem cell function is a potential new therapeutic strategy that is drawing nearer to clinical practice. The aim of this study was to determine whether the combination treatment of simvastatin plus MSCs (Sim-MSCs) could have a synergistic effect on hepatic fibrosis in a thioacetamide (TAA)-induced cirrhotic rat model and hepatic stellate cells (HSCs). Cirrhotic livers from rats treated with Sim-MSCs exhibited histological improvement compared to those treated with simvastatin alone. Sim-MSCs combination treatment decreased hepatic collagen distribution, lowered the hydroxyproline content, and rescued liver function impairment in rats with TAA-induced cirrhosis. These protective effects were more potent with Sim-MSCs than with simvastatin alone. The upregulation of collagen-1, α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1, and phospho-Smad3 in cirrhotic livers was prevented by the administration of Sim-MSCs. Intriguingly, Sim-MSCs inhibited both TGF-β/Smad3 signaling and α-SMA in HSCs. The Sim-MSCs combination treatment exerted strong protective effects against hepatic fibrosis by suppressing TGF-β/Smad signaling.         노력성 폐활량검사시 호흡기류센서의 보정기법

        노력성 폐활량(FVC) 검사시 호식기류의 최대값인 최고호기유량(PEF)은 호흡기능의 평가에 매우 중요하게 활용되는 진단 매개변수이다. PEF는 검사 초기에 매우 짧은 순간에 크게 증가하는 양상을 띠기 때문에 호흡기류센서의 동특성이 충분하지 않은 경우 측정오차가 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 노력성 호식기류 상의 초기 상승속도 (Sr)를 산출하고 Sr 값에 기초하여 센서 출력값을 보정하는 새로운 기법을 제안하였다. 미국 흉부학회(ATS)에서 제공하는 표준 기류신호 파형 26개를 생성하여(F) 속도계측형 호흡기류센서로 통과시키며 센서 출력신호(N)를 축적하였다. F의 최대값인 PEF와 N의 최대 값인 NPEF 간에는 당초 예상했던 대로 2차함수 관계가 성립하였으나(상관계수 0.9997), ATS파형 #2 및 26은 상당한 이탈을 보였다(상대오차>10%). NPEF의 상대오차와 Sr 간의 관계를 분석하여 상호 선형적인 관계를 얻었으므로, 이를 이용하여 보정한 결과 PEF 상대오차의 99% 신뢰구간이 약 2.5% 이었다. 이는 국제 표준인 ATS의 오차한계인 10%의 1/4 이내로써 매우 정확한 보정이 이루어졌다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제안하는 보정기법은 호흡기류센서 교정시 매우 유용하리라 판단된다. Peak expiratory flow rate(PEF) is a very important diagnostic parameter obtained from the forced vital capacity(FVC) test. The expiratory flow rate increases during the short initial time period and may cause measurement error in PEF particularly due to non-ideal dynamic characteristic of the transducer. The present study evaluated the initial rise slope(Sr) on the flow rate signal to compensate the transducer output data. The 26 standard signals recommended by the American Thoracic Society(ATS) were generated and flown through the velocity-type respiratory air flow transducer with simultaneously acquiring the transducer output signal. Most PEF and the corresponding output(NPEF) were well fitted into a quadratic equation with a high enough correlation coefficient of 0.9997. But only two(ATS#2 and 26) signals resulted significant deviation of NPEF with relative errors>10%. The relationship between the relative error in NPEF and Sr was found to be linear, based on which NPEF data were compensated. As a result, the 99% confidence interval of PEF error was turned out to be approximately 2.5%, which was less than a quarter of the upper limit of 10% recommended by ATS. Therefore, the present compensation technique was proved to be very accurate, complying the international standards of ATS, which would be useful to calibrate respiratory air flow transducers.

        Predictive Factors for Complete Response and Recurrence after Transarterial Chemoembolization in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

        Background/Aims: To investigate the predictive factors for complete response (CR) and recurrence after CR in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) treated with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE). Methods: Among 691 newly diagnosed HCC patients, 287 were treated with TACE as a first therapy. We analyzed the predictive factors for CR, recurrence after CR, and overall survival (OS). Results: Eighty-one patients (28.2%) achieved CR after TACE, and recurrence after CR was detected in 35 patients (43.2%). In multivariate analyses, tumor size (≤5 cm) and single nodularity were predictive factors for CR, with hazard ratios (HRs) of 0.35 (p=0.002) and 0.41 (p< 0.001), respectively. Elevated serum α-fetoprotein (AFP) (>20 ng/mL) level and multinodularity exhibited significant relationships with recurrence after CR, with HRs of 2.220 (p=0.026) and 3.887 (p< 0.001), respectively. Tumor size (>5 cm), multinodularity, elevated serum AFP (>20 ng/mL) level, Child-Turcotte-Pugh score (B and C), and portal vein thrombosis were significant factors for OS. Conclusions: In patients treated with TACE as a first therapy, tumor size (≤5 cm) and single nodularity were predictive factors for CR, and multinodularity and elevated serum AFP (>20 ng/mL) levels were predictive factors for recurrence after CR. The aim of this study was to determine whether the combination treatment of simvastatin plus MSCs (Sim-MSCs) could have a synergistic effect on hepatic fibrosis in a thioacetamide (TAA)-induced cirrhotic rat model. Methods: Hepatic fibrosis was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats by intraperitoneal injection of TAA (300 mg/kg body weight) twice a week for 12 weeks. Animals were randomly allocated into four groups (each group, n = 10) as follows: group I (G1, sham group); group II (G2, untreated cirrhotic group), which received the TAA injections; group III (G3, Simvastatin treated group), which received both the TAA injections and the simvastatin treatment; and group IV (G4, Simvastatin plus MSCs treated group), which received both the TAA injections and the Sim-MSCs treatment. G3 and G4 were given simvastatin at 10 mg·kg-1·day-1 via drinking water for 5 weeks. The BM-MSCs were injected directly into the right lobe of the liver at 6 and 8 weeks during the 12-week course of TAA administration. After 12 weeks, the effect of simvastatin and BM-MSCs on hepatic fibrosis was analyzed histomorphologically using the Laennec fibrosis scoring system, and the collagen proportionate area was quantified. Cirrhosis-related factors, such as transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β 1), type 1 collagen (collagen-1), α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and P-Smad3/Smad3 expression levels, were evaluated using real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blot assays. Results: Cirrhotic livers from rats treated with Sim-MSCs exhibited histological improvement compared to those treated with simvastatin alone. Sim-MSCs combination treatment reduced hepatic collagen distribution, lowered the hydroxyproline content, and rescued liver function impairment in rats with TAA-induced cirrhosis. These protective effects were more potent with Sim-MSCs than with simvastatin alone. The upregulation of collagen-1, α-SMA, TGF-β1, and Smad3 phosphorylation in cirrhotic livers was prevented by administration of Sim-MSCs.         농촌지역 주민들에서 만성 의학적 질환이 자살사고에 미치는 영향

        Objectives:This study attempted to investigate the effects of chronic medical diseases on suicidal ideation in a rural population, focusing on differences between adults and elderly individuals. Methods:We conducted a community-based, cross-sectional study on 682 subjects residing in rural areas. Participants aged 18–79 years were interviewed at home to assess the presence of current or past chronic medical diseases(lifetime). All participants completed the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale, Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation, Beck Anxiety Inventory, Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test, and Barratt Impulsiveness Scale-11. Multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted to analyze the influences of chronic medical diseases on suicidal ideation in the “adult group” and “elderly group.” Results:In the unadjusted model, cardiovascular diseases(odds ratio : OR, 11.86; 95% confidence interval : 95% CI, 3.07-45.83), arthritis(OR, 3.72; 95% CI, 1.55-8.95), and cerebrovascular diseases(OR, 9.47 : 95% CI, 2.64-34.00) were significantly associated with increased suicidal ideation among adults. Furthermore, the association between cardiovascular diseases and increased suicidal ideation remained significant(OR, 12.53 : 95% CI, 1.51-104.17) after adjusting for sociodemographic factors, depression, anxiety, impulsivity, and problematic alcohol use. In elderly group, arthritis was the only significant risk factor for increased suicidal ideation in both unadjusted and adjusted models(OR, 2.80; 95% CI, 1.13-6.94 and OR, 3.71; 95% CI, 1.05-13.08, respectively). Conclusion:Chronic medical diseases that were associated with suicidal ideation differed by age group. This study suggests that primary-care physicians need to carefully assess suicidal ideation in adult patients with cardiovascular diseases and elderly patients with arthritis.
