Influence of Corporate Governance on Dividend Policy in Vietnam
NGUYEN, Ha Viet,DANG, Hung Ngoc,DAU, Hung Hoang Korea Distribution Science Association 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.2
The paper examines the impact of corporate governance (CG), on dividend policy (DP) of enterprises in Vietnam. The paper studies the impact of CG on DP of businesses listed on Vietnam's stock exchange in the period 2008-2018 with 2,937 observations. The data of these companies is collected from the financial statements of businesses and Vietstock data sets, as well as aggregated from the data published on some reputable securities websites. The study used GLS regression method for data collected at listed companies in Vietnam in the period of 2008-2018. The research results have found that CG, the chairman of the board of directors (BOD), and the managing director have a negative effect on the DP. Specifically, companies with strong BODs tend to pay low dividends. At the same time, research shows that factors such as profitability, financial leverage, firm size, and investment opportunities affect DP. This result underscores the importance of corporate governance (both internal and external) to the income distribution decision and provides policy implications for investors and company executives. The study finds solid evidence that alternative theory explains better the relationship between corporate governance and dividend policy. Accordingly, companies with weak corporate governance will pay more dividends.
AN IMPROVED HEAT TRANSFER CORRELATION FOR DEVELOPING POST-DRYOUT REGION IN VERTICAL TUBES
NGOC HUNG NGUYEN,문상기 한국원자력학회 2015 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.47 No.4
A developing post-dryout region is characterized by significant heat transfer enhancements compared with the fully developed post-dryout region. The heat transfer enhancements are mainly due to upstream disturbance and entrained droplets in the region immediately downstream of the critical heat flux location. In this paper, an improved heat transfer correlation is developed for the developing post-dryout regions in vertical tubes over a wide range of flow conditions. The correlation represents a correction factor for the fully developed film-boiling look-up table to be applied to the developing post-dryout region. The new correlation significantly improves the heat transfer prediction in the developing post-dryout regions and provides very good agreement with the experimental data.

This paper presents an optimal implementation of a Daubechies-based pipelined discrete wavelet packettransform (DWPT) processor using finite impulse response (FIR) filter banks. The feed-forward pipelined (FFP)architecture is exploited for implementation of the DWPT on the field-programmable gate array (FPGA). Theproposed DWPT is based on an efficient transpose form structure, thereby reducing its computational complexityby half of the system. Moreover, the efficiency of the design is further improved by using a canonical-signeddigit-based binary expression (CSDBE) and advanced functional sharing (AFS) methods. In this work, the AFStechnique is proposed to optimize the convolution of FIR filter banks for DWPT decomposition, which reducesthe hardware resource utilization by not requiring any embedded digital signal processing (DSP) blocks. Theproposed AFS and CSDBE-based DWPT system is embedded on the Virtex-7 FPGA board for testing. Theproposed design is implemented as an intellectual property (IP) logic core that can easily be integrated into DSPsystems for sub-band analysis. The achieved results conclude that the proposed method is very efficient inimproving hardware resource utilization while maintaining accuracy of the result of DWPT.

This study aims to find out and measure the level of factors affecting the applicability of environmental management accounting (EMA) in Vietnamese automobile industry enterprises. Data was collected using both quantitative and qualitative methods. First, in general research, qualitative methodology was used to find out factors (variables) that can impact the possibility of implementing EMA in Vietnamese automobile enterprises. Second, in detailed research, all variables are measured using a quantitative method by collecting data through sampling and sending questionnaires. 500 questionnaires were sent to automobile enterprise managers and only 352 questionnaires met the criteria for the data analysis. The study used a mixed research design approach- a procedure for collecting, analyzing, and “mixing” both quantitative and qualitative research and methods in a single study to understand the research problem. Results show that 7 factors affect the possibility of implementing EMA in Vietnamese automobile industry enterprises. These factors are coercive pressure, normative pressure, mimetic pressure, business environmental uncertainty, environmental strategy, benefits when applying EMA, and task complexity. Based on the results of the study, promoting EMA in the automotive industry should depend mainly on the role of governmental departments.

The study investigates the factors influencing the innovation activities in the enterprises in the Binh Dinh Province, Vietnam. By employing the dataset from a survey in 200 typical enterprises in Binh Dinh and using the Exploratory Factor Analysis and regression analysis, we found that there are eight factor groups affecting the innovation activities of enterprises. They include management of innovation promotion; market research capacity; leadership inspiring innovation; culture of innovation; human resources for implementing innovation; network connection; disseminating/sharing knowledge; and impact of producing/serving technology. All these factors strongly affect the innovation activities, which plays an important role in promoting the sustainable development of the Vietnamese enterprises, with the statistical significance level at 1%. Moreover, findings also show that, among these factors, the market research capacity is the strongest determinant of the innovation activity in the enterprise. An increase of 1 point of capacity of market research will increase the innovation activities in the enterprise by 0.114 point. It is followed by the management of promoting innovation, leadership inspiring innovation, and disseminating and sharing knowledge, with 0.104, 0.103 and 0.102 score, respectively. On the other hand, network connection is the weakest factor, with the score of 0.07 point.

Slurry phase hydrocracking of vacuum residue at various catalyst concentrations was performed in asemi-batch reactor to investigate the effect of catalyst concentration on the reaction performance. Thesecondary cracking reaction was dominant at high-residue conversion (>60 wt%) without the catalystbut it was suppressed by the catalyst. Moreover, the conversion of asphaltenes at high-residue conversionswas found to be dependent on the catalyst concentration. At low catalyst concentrations(0–100 ppm), asphaltenes were converted to light products at low-residue conversions and to coke athigh-residue conversions. At high catalyst concentrations (100–500 ppm), asphaltenes were mainly convertedto light products even at high conversions. Based on the experimental results, equations for theonset of coke formation with respect to the catalyst concentration were proposed. The higher the catalystconcentration, the longer was the coke induction period. A kinetic model was also proposed, and theexperimental data could be predicted well using the same. The transformation of residue to coke wasdominant in the non-catalytic hydrocracking and the coke formation rate significantly decreased asthe catalyst concentration increased.
