Accelerated life testing of concrete based on stochastic approach and assessment

Binrong Zhu,Hongxia Qiao,Qiong Feng,Chenggong Lu 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2017 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.19 No.1

This study aimed to design the accelerated life testing (ALT) of concrete, which stimulating the special natural environment maximumly. Its evaluation indexes, such as dynamic elastic modulus, mass and ultrasonic velocity were measured, and the variation of relative mass and relative dynamic elastic modulus of concrete were studied. Meanwhile, the microanalysis method was used. Moreover, an exploratory application of the stochastic approach, the Weibull distribution and the lognormal distribution, were made to assess the durability of concrete structures. The results show that the ALT for simulating natural environment is more close to the service process of concrete structure under actual conditions; The relative dynamic elastic modulus can be used as the dominant durability evaluation parameters, because it is more sensitive to the environmental factors compared with the relative quality evaluation parameters; In the course of the concrete deterioration, the destruction of the salt freezing cycle is the dominant factor, supplemented by other factors; Both of those two stochastic approaches can be used to evaluate the reliability of concrete specimens under the condition of ALT; By comparison, The lognormal distribution method is better to describe the reliability process.

Evaluation of sex attractants for monitoring of Illiberis ulmivora Graeser (Lepidoptera: Zygaenidae: Procridinae): Height, distance, placement, climatic conditions

        Liu Hongxia,Dou Rui,Wang Jifei,Zhu Yachao,Li Jingyao,Liu Jinlong,Wang Yang,Zhang Jintong,Jing Xiaoyuan 한국곤충학회 2022 Entomological Research Vol.52 No.2

The phytophagous caterpillar Illiberis ulmivora is a serious pest of Ulmus glaucescens Franch (Ulmaceae, Ulmus). In order to test potent sex attractant, field trails of synthetic candidate attractants were conducted in China. In this study, baits with ternary blends, (2S)-butyl (7Z)-dodecenoate, (2S)-butyl (9Z)-tetradecenoate, and (2S)-butyl (5Z)-decenoate (8:4:1 ratio) resulted in a higher number of male moths capture than the rest of the baits that were offered. Traps positioned at a height of 1.2 m attracted more males than those installed at heights of 2.2 m and 3.2 m. The slope aspect, temperature and humility had a significant effect on the trap catches. More catches occurred in traps placed on semi-shady and semi-sunny slopes than those placed on sunny and shady slopes. The number of pheromones in the septa decreased with age. The residual amounts of pheromones in the lures combined with 2,6-di-tert - butyl-p-cresol (BHT) were higher than those in the control. However, there were no differences in the male captures between components and components combined with BHT during the first 8 d. These findings on monitoring and trap positions can be used to predict the occurrence and population dynamics of I. ulmivora, to develop ecological management of I. ulmivora.

      • Using Input Shaping to Repress Two-mode Residual Vibration on Aerial Lifts

        Jia Hongxia,Zhu Fumin,Joshua Vaughan 제어로봇시스템학회 2012 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2012 No.10

Aerial lifts are machines that enable human workers to comfortably work at heights that might otherwise be inaccessible. They typically have multiple long-reach arms to enable working at such heights. There is typically enough flexibility in these arms to result in deflections of the lift endpoint, the bucket where the operators are located. These deflections can be excited by either motion of the operators within the bucket or by operator commands moving the bucket around the workspace. Input shaping is one method that can drastically reduce the motion-induced oscillation. This paper investigates the application of input shaping to one category of aerial lifts, commonly called cherrypickers. When input shaping is used, the endpoint vibration is reduced. However, it is not completely eliminated due to the nonlinear nature of the system.

Accelerated Life Testing of Concrete based on Three-parameter Weibull Stochastic Approach

        Xiangke Guo,Hongxia Qiao,Binrong Zhu,Penghui Wang,Shaoyong Wen 대한토목학회 2019 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.23 No.4

Due to the time-varying characteristics of the durability of a concrete structure, a long duration of exposure and monitoring in natural conditions is required. The present research provided the indoor accelerated life testing of concrete, which simulated the special natural environments in the Xining area, including solar radiation, dry-wet circulation, freeze-thaw cycle, and salt corrosion. The measured dynamic modulus was taken as an evaluation index for the durability of concrete, and the change of the relative dynamic modulus of the specimen was studied. Meanwhile, a two-parameter Weibull distribution and three-parameter Weibull distribution were proposed based on the stochastic analysis method in order to assess the durability of concrete structure. It has been observed that the indoor accelerated life testing of concrete can make up for the shortcomings of long-term exposure under natural conditions. The variation of the relative dynamic modulus can effectively reflect the durability of the concrete degradation process. By contrasting two methods of stochastic analysis, the three-parameter Weibull distribution method is better to fit the accelerated lifedata of concrete specimens and to evaluate the durability of concrete structures during service.

      • Evaluation of 관-Amyloid Peptides Fibrillation Induced by Nanomaterials Based on Molecular Dynamics and Surface Plasmon Resonance.

        Hou, Yafei,Li, Pengfei,Zhou, Hongjian,Zhu, Xiaoli,Chen, Haifeng,Lee, Jaebeom,Koh, Kwangnak,Shen, Zhongming,Chen, Hongxia American Scientific Publishers 2015 Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Vol.15 No.2

This report investigated the effect of carbon nanomaterials, single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) and graphene oxide, on fibrillation of 관-amyloid 40 (A관40) based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and molecular dynamics (MD). MD simulations are carried out in order to reveal the molecular mechanisms of the interaction between nanomaterials and A관40. The strong interaction between A관40 and nanomaterials is related to Van der Waals forces and the Coulomb force, inducing delicate manipulation of the main bonding energy for fibrillation of A관40. The interaction energy between the A관 peptide and graphene is higher than that of SWCNT. Experimental results show both carbon nanomaterials enhance the appearance of a critical nucleus for nucleation of peptide fibrils. Graphene is more beneficial to assist the nucleation process than SWCNT. Combination of SPR and molecular dynamics could be a high-throughput method to screen protein fibrillation.

Transcriptional profiling reveals the molecular bases of immune regulation in Apis mellifera in response to Ascosphaera apis infection

        Bo Xu,Yingzhe WANG,Shixin ZHU,Haizhu ZHOU,Changlong GOU,Wenlong DONG,Yu Wang,Yunhang GAO,Hongxia MA 한국곤충학회 2019 Entomological Research Vol.49 No.1

Chalkbrood, which results from Ascosphaera apis infection, is one of the bee diseases that causes serious damage to the bee colony. Understanding the molecular bases underlying immune response to chalkbrood disease would facilitate the genetic breeding of bees by selecting races with superior chalkbrood resistance. In this study, transcriptome sequencing was performed to identify genes and pathways involved in the immune response to As. apis infection in A. mellifera larvae. In total, 2,890 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) (FDR < 0.001) were identified between the healthy and As. apis infected bee larvae, including 2,214 up‐regulated and 676 down‐regulated unigenes. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway classification of the DEGs revealed association with development, energy metabolism, signal transduction, disease, and immune response. Among the immune‐related genes, p38, toll‐like receptors (TLRs), integrin, and antimicrobial peptides were up‐regulated under As. apis infection. This study provides valuable gene transcriptional information towards the investigation of molecular mechanisms related to chalkbrood immune response and host pathogenesis in A. mellifera.

3D-QSAR and Molecular Docking Studies on Benzotriazoles as Antiproliferative Agents and Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors

        Xiaolin Li,Jie Fu,Wei Shi,Yin Luo,Xiaowei Zhang,Hailiang Zhu,Hongxia Yu 대한화학회 2013 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.34 No.8

Benzotriazole is an important synthetic auxiliary for potential clinical applications. A series of benzotriazoles as potential antiproliferative agents by inhibiting histone deacetylase (HDAC) were recently reported. Threedimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR), including comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) and comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA), were performed to elucidate the 3D structural features required for the antiproliferative activity. The results of both ligand-based CoMFA model (q2 = 0.647, r2 = 0.968, r2 pred = 0.687) and CoMSIA model (q2 = 0.685, r2 = 0.928, r2 pred = 0.555) demonstrated the highly statistical significance and good predictive ability. The results generated from CoMFA and CoMSIA provided important information about the structural characteristics influence inhibitory potency. In addition, docking analysis was applied to clarify the binding modes between the ligands and the receptor HDAC. The information obtained from this study could provide some instructions for the further development of potent antiproliferative agents and HDAC inhibitors.

Suppression of Aurora-A oncogenic potential by c-Myc downregulation

        Shangbin Yang,Shun He,Xiaobo Zhou,Mei Liu,Hongxia Zhu,Yihua Wang,Wei Zhang,Shuang Yan,Lanping Quan,Jingfeng Bai,Ningzhi Xu 생화학분자생물학회 2010 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.42 No.11

The abnormality of serine/threonine kinase Aurora-A is seen in many types of cancers. Although in physiological context it has been shown to play a vital role in cellular mitosis, how this oncogene contributes to tumorigenesis remains unclear. Here we demonstrate that Aurora-A overexpression enhances both the expression level and transcriptional activity of c-Myc. The inhibition of c-Myc expression by RNA interference significantly impaired the oncogenic potential of Aurora-A, resulting in attenuated cellular proliferation and transformation rates as well as fewer centrosomal aberrations. Furthermore, downregulation of c-Myc effectively overcame Aurora-A-induced resistance to cisplatin in esophageal cancer cells. Taken together, our results suggest an important role for c-Myc in mediating the oncogenic activity of Aurora-A, which may in turn allow for future targeting of c-Myc as a potential therapeutic strategy for tumors with Aurora-A overexpression.
