Veronica persica Poir. (Persian speedwell) is an invasive alien weed species in the upland soils throughout China. Its dominance in weed flora could be alleviated by Chorispora tenella (Pall.) (tender chorispora) in P-poor soils and in an intense light environment. Here, three experiments in growth chambers were carried out in order to explore the effect of P and light intensity on the growth and competition of V. persica and C. tenella, the pH value in their rhizospheres, and the kinetic parameters (Km and Vmax) of the H2PO4 - uptake by the two weed species. The ANOVA results showed that the light intensity and P level in the soil obviously influenced the growth of the two weed species. However, the effect of the P level in the soil was greater for V. persica and the effect of the light intensity was greater for C. tenella. The restriction of the growth of V. persica by a low P level in the soil was much more than that of C. tenella, but it was reversed in the two species in relation to a low light intensity. In addition, the pH was lower in the rhizosphere of C. tenella after the P-deficient treatment and there was a lower Km in the uptake of H2PO4 - than for V. persica, suggesting that C. tenella could adapt to a low-P environment more easily. In conclusion, C. tenella growing together with V. persica had a competitive advantage under high-light-intensity and low-P-level conditions, but it lost its advantage with an increase in P fertilization and a decrease in light intensity.

<P>We report a systematic study on the magnetic, magnetocaloric (MC), specific heat and magnetoelectric (ME) properties of the single crystals of rare-earth orthochromites, RCrO3 (R = Dy, Nd, Er, Tb). Interesting stair-like metamagnetic transitions were observed for the first time in TbCrO3 crystals. Intrinsic large anisotropy in the magnetic and ME properties were also revealed in all of the RCrO3 crystals. The reorientation/ordering of the rare earth R3+ spins was observed to be accompanied with large MC, rotating MC and ME effects. These behaviors are found be closely related to the R-R and R-Cr interactions in these chromites. In particular, the ME effect can be ascribed to the spin phonon coupling. All these results suggest the essential and unique role of 4f electrons of rare earth ions in these chromites.</P>

Both O-linked β-N-acetylglucosaminylation (O-GlcNAcylation) and endoplasmic reticulum-phagy (ER-phagy) are well-characterized conserved adaptive regulatory mechanisms that maintain cellular homeostasis and function in response to various stress conditions. Abnormalities in O-GlcNAcylation and ER-phagy have been documented in a wide variety of human pathologies. However, whether O-GlcNAcylation or ER-phagy is involved in the pathogenesis of intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is largely unknown. In this study, we investigated the function of O-GlcNAcylation and ER-phagy and the related underlying mechanisms in IDD. We found that the expression profiles of O-GlcNAcylation and O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) were notably increased in degenerated NP tissues and nutrient-deprived nucleus pulposus (NP) cells. By modulating the O-GlcNAc level through genetic manipulation and specific pharmacological intervention, we revealed that increasing O-GlcNAcylation abundance substantially enhanced cell function and facilitated cell survival under nutrient deprivation (ND) conditions. Moreover, FAM134B-mediated ER-phagy activation was regulated by O-GlcNAcylation, and suppression of ER-phagy by FAM134B knockdown considerably counteracted the protective effects of amplified O-GlcNAcylation. Mechanistically, FAM134B was determined to be a potential target of OGT, and O-GlcNAcylation of FAM134B notably reduced FAM134B ubiquitination-mediated degradation. Correspondingly, the protection conferred by modulating O-GlcNAcylation homeostasis was verified in a rat IDD model. Our data demonstrated that OGT directly associates with and stabilizes FAM134B and subsequently enhances FAM134B-mediated ER-phagy to enhance the adaptive capability of cells in response to nutrient deficiency. These findings may provide a new option for O-GlcNAcylation-based therapeutics in IDD prevention.

Four new ursane-type triterpenoid saponins, clinopoursaponins A–D (1–4), six new oleanane-type triterpenoid saponins, clinopodiside VII–XII (5–10), as well as eight known triterpene analogues (11–18), were isolated from the aerial parts of Clinopodium chinense (Benth.) O. Kuntze. The structures of the new compounds were determined based on extensive spectral analyses, including 1D (1H and 13C) and 2D NMR experiments (COSY, NOESY, HSQC, 2D TOCSY, HSQC-TOCSY and HMBC), HR-ESI-MS and chemical methods. Compounds 1–18 were evaluated for their protective effects against anoxia/reoxygenation-induced apoptosis in H9c2 cells and cytotoxicities against murine mammary carcinoma cell line 4T1. Compounds 8, 9 and 18 exhibited significant protective effects, while compound 1 exhibited cytotoxic activity with IC50 value of 7.4 μm compared to 7.6 μm for the positive control 10-hydroxycamptothecin.

Shanming Luo,Fuqiang Li,Pingjiang Wang,Yin Yang,Jingyu Mo 한국정밀공학회 2020 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.21 No.8
In order to solve the problems of traditional calibration methods, such as assigning internal and external parameters for camera and hand-eye relation matrices, a new method to calibrate weld coating robots based on plane-to-plane intersection model is developed in this paper. The mathematical model of the system is established by the homogeneous transformation theory, and then used to calibrate the line structured light sensor (LSLS). By adjusting the robot, the coordinate systems of the LSLS and the workpiece are superposed to solve the hand-eye relation matrix of the car roof weld coating robot. Finally, the calibrated experimental process and results towards car roof weld coating robot system are analyzed. The results show that this method is simple and high accuracy in roof weld coating robot system, and can be applied to the field calibration of car roof weld coating robot system. Furthermore, it can provide guiding significance for calibration of other robot systems.
An improved Big Bang-Big Crunch algorithm for structural damage detection
Zhiyi Yin,Jike Liu,Wei-Li Luo,Zhongrong Lu 국제구조공학회 2018 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.68 No.6
The Big Bang-Big Crunch (BB-BC) algorithm is an effective global optimization technique of swarm intelligence with drawbacks of being easily trapped in local optimal results and of converging slowly. To overcome these shortages, an improved BB-BC algorithm (IBB-BC) is proposed in this paper with taking some measures, such as altering the reduced form of exploding radius and generating multiple mass centers. The accuracy and efficiency of IBB-BC is examined by different types of benchmark test functions. The IBB-BC is utilized for damage detection of a simply supported beam and the European Space Agency structure with an objective function established by structural frequency and modal data. Two damage scenarios are considered: damage only existed in stiffness and damage existed in both stiffness and mass. IBB-BC is also validated by an existing experimental study. Results demonstrated that IBB-BC is not trapped into local optimal results and is able to detect structural damages precisely even under measurement noise.

Ying Luo,Yuezhou Yin,Heng Wei,Na Chen 한국자동차공학회 2022 International journal of automotive technology Vol.23 No.4
In this study, the effect of discrimination threshold on velocity variation is investigated, and a self-tuning algorithm for velocity variation is proposed to improve the accuracy of an advanced automatic crash notification (AACN) system. First, after determining the factors affecting driver injury, an injury prediction model for the driver is developed. Second, the prediction accuracy affected by the discrimination threshold in the AACN system is analyzed using a finite element model for a sled crash test. Third, the self-tuning occupant injury prediction algorithm is presented based on an association model for the velocity variation error, discrimination threshold, and acceleration peak. Fourth, a vehicle terminal is designed by embedding a self-tuning algorithm into the system. Finally, a sled test and vehicle crash test are conducted to verify the reliability of the self-tuning algorithm. The test results show that the self-tuning algorithm can increase the accuracy of the probability of driver injury.

An adaptive synchronization of uncertain chaotic system is presented using partition of unity method. First, the uncertainties of chaotic systems are approximate by the linear combination of partition of unity. Subsequently, the sliding mode adaptive controllers are proposed for synchronization of the uncertain chaotic systems. The proposed approach offers a systematic design procedure for adaptive synchronization of a class of uncertain chaotic system in the chaos research literature. We also il-lustrate examples of chaotic systems such as Chen and Lorenz chaotic systems to show the effective-ness of the approach.
