This paper aims to investigate Korean advanced L2 English learners’ strategies for ellipsis resolution during sentence processing. Ellipsis resolution is known to involve several stages of information processing from the initial step of detecting an ellipsis-licensing element by the parser to the final stage of integrating the ellipsis site with the information retrieved from the antecedent of the ellipsis site. In examining these steps, we have manipulated three factors: (i) TP vs. VP-ellipsis; (ii) two types of discourse coherence relations (resemblance(-contrast) vs. cause-effect relations); (iii) voice match vs. mismatch. We found through the ERP recordings that voice mismatch in TP ellipsis elicited N400, followed by P600, irrespective of discourse coherence relations. In contrast, voice mismatch in VP-ellipsis registered N400 only in resemblance(-contrast) relation, but not in cause-effect relation. These findings lead us to conclude that Korean advanced L2 learners of English seem to undergo the full sequence of processing stages required for ellipsis resolution.

We estimated fingernail nitrogen content from children in a city, a farm village, a mountain village and a fishing village. Therefore, the result is as follow. In summer, nail nitrogen content was estimated 130.79±15.39mg/g in a city, 123.86±24.93mg/g in a farm village, 96.16±17.04mg/g in fishing village, 91.96±6.76mg/g in a mountain village. In winter was estimated 137.43ㄷ69.06mg/g in a city, 131.70±8.49mg/g in a farm village, 124.75±16.34mg/g in a fishing village, 115.81±6.36mg/g in a mountain village. According to this analysis, the nail nitrogen content lowered by turns a city, a farm village, a fishing village, a mountain village. The nitrogen contents of nails obtained in winter were found to be higher than those obtained in summer.

Research Articles : Geographic Genetic Contour of A Leaf Beetle, Chrysolina aurichalcea (Coleoptera: Chysomelidae), on the Basis of Mitochondrial COI Gene and Nuclear ITS2 Sequences

The leaf beetle, Chrysolina aurichalcea (Coleoptera: Chysomelidae), is a pest damaging plants of Compositae. In order to understand the genetic diversity and geographic variation we sequenced a portion of mitochondrial COI gene (658 bp) and complete nuclear internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) of the species collected from seven Korean localities. A total of 17 haplotypes (CACOI01~CACOI17), with the maximum sequence divergence of 3.04% (20 bp) were obtained from COI gene sequence, whereas 16 sequence types (ITS2CA01~ITS2CA16), with the maximum sequence divergence of 2.013% (9 bp) were obtained from ITS2, indicating substantially larger sequence divergence in COI gene sequence. Phylogenetically, the COI gene provided two haplotype groups with a high nodal support (≥87%), whereas ITS2 provided only one sequence type group with a high nodal support (≥92%). The result of COI gene sequence may suggest the presence of historical biogeographic barriers that bolstered genetic subdivision in the species. Different grouping pattern between COI gene and ITS2 sequences were interpreted in terms of recent dispersal, reflected in the ITS2 sequence. Finding of unique haplotypes and sequence types only from Beakryeng-Islet population was interpreted as an intact remnant of ancient polymorphism. As more samples are analyzed using further hyper-variable marker, further fruitful inference on the geographic contour of the species might be available.

영유아의 도서접근법에 의한 사회성 발달 지도 : 그림책 분석을 중심으로 mainly through the picture book analysis

The purpose of this study was to provide the basic information for enhancing young children's social development by analyzing picture books. The goals for the study of children's social development were in accordance with the principles set up by the ministry of education. They are as follows: ① daily habits ② control of the individual's thinking and behaviors ③ children's understanding of their families ④ children's understanding of group life ⑤ interests in social phenomena and environments. This study was carried out by analyzing 241 picture books selected randomly at the market by researcher and assistants. The results of the analysis were pertaining to the following four categories: suggested appropriate children's ages, the contents and aims of the books, the subjects of the picture books, and analysis of the pictures.

Polarimeter를 이용한 Unnatural Amino Acid 유도체의 선광도 측정

For the development of new COX-2 inhibitor, novel unnatural amino acids, key intermediates were synthesized through induction an arylsulfonyl group to 1-position, an aralkyl group to 4-position of 4-hydroxy L-proline. The 4-aralkyloxy-1-(4-tosyl)-L-prolines 5a-d were synthesized through N-tosylation, esterification, O-alkyl-(or aryl)ation, base-hydrolysis (deprotection of carboxylic acid) from 4-hydroxy-L-proline. The optical activity of unnatural amino acids were studied how the specific rotation was related with their structure. The optical rotation of unnatural amino acids were determined by polarimeter.

보육교사의 세시풍속에 대한 이해와 현장 적용에 관한 연구

This study aims to help educate preschool children capable of taking in diversified cultures of the world, by understanding their own hereditary yearly customs and their identity, under the present situations crying for globalization and open-door policy. Pre-school children, with firm understanding of the identity of our customs, are expected to deserve the veins of our hereditary yearly customs and to practice them in everyday life. In order to induce such teaching in the class-room, the following points have been surveyed and studied : 1. How well are instructors versed with our hereditary yearly customs? 2. To what extent do instructors practice our hereditary yearly customs in daily life? 3. What are the instructors preferences on the teaching of hereditary yearly customs in the class? The results have been summarized briefly : 1. Instructors are well versed with some of the hereditary yearly customs. 2. Instructors practiced some related things with the hereditary yearly customs along with special food and traditional play, but had difficulties without much informations available. 3. Instructors highly agreed on practicing our hereditary yearly customs in the class with several reasons and suggested proper ways in doing so. Finally, discussions in respect to each survey have also been done.

This study aims to help enhance the qualities of the pre-service teacher's language, by understanding how to use Korean properly in the child care center. Child care teacher, being a teacher of very young children, needs to have many abilities to be a good linguistic role model for them. The subjects were 218 pre-service teachers in Pusan. This study consisted of two parts. In the ferst part, the study was done by Questionnaire. The second part of the study was done by the observation of the linguistic life of the pre-service teacher in the child care center. Many points have been discussed including certain pronunciations an the Kyung-nam dialect.

한국무용 참가동기와 생활만족의 구조방정식 모형 분석

This study was to analyze the life satisfaction by korean dance participation's motivation. Specifically. this study was to test relationship among, participation motivation, active satisfaction and life satisfaction. The subjects(N=191) were selected in highschool and university located at Kwangju province by convenience random sampling. This study organized a self-administration reporting questionaire which was named<The survey on the life satisfaction by korean dance participation's motivation>. The result of reliability about questionaire was Chronbach' a=.758-902. The reliability analysis and SEM were used as statistic analysis techniques. On the basis of the results, the conclusions were drawn as follows; First. There was a signfticant influence between outer participating motivation and active satisfaction. Second, There was a significant influence between active satisfaction and life satisfaction. Third, the model which was generally coincided on X^(2) = 145.701 (P=.000), RMSEA = .073, TLI = .939, NFI = .910, CFI = .952, explained adequate relationship among korean dance participation's motivation, active satisfaction and life satisfaction.

브래그 격자형 광섬유 센서시스템의 신호처리기 구현

A demodulator for a portable fiber Bragg grating sensor is implemented and tested. The demodulator that measures the reflection wavelength of fiber Bragg gratings was applied to a fiber Bragg temperature sensor. The test results show that it can measure the temperature with sensitivity of 0.1℃, error less than ±0.5℃, and long-time drift of 0.2℃.
