A new protein was cloned and identified as the sixth subunit of Choristoneura fumiferana origin recognition complex (CfORC6). The newly identified 43 kDa protein CfORC6 is much bigger than DmORC6 (25.7 kDa) and HsORC6 (28.1 kDa), though it's 23.85% identical to DmORC6 and 23.81% identical to HsORC6. Although the molecular weight of CfORC6 is close to ScORc6 (50 kDa), CfORC6 is only 14.03% identical to ScORC6. By alignment, it was found that the N-terminal of CfORC6 has about 30% identities with other ORC6s, but about 100aa of C-terminal of CfORC6 has no identity with other ORC6s. Like ScORC6, CfORC6 has many potential phosphorylation sites, (S/T)PXK. Like DmORC6, CfORC6 has leucine-rich region in the relevant site. Northern Blot showed that CfORC6 mRNA is about 2,000nt. Southern Blot confirmed that there is one copy of CfORC6 gene in spruce budworm genome. Western blot showed that infection of Cf124T cells with CfMNPV didn't affect the expression levels of CfORC6, at least up to 26 hr post infection.

Objective: We tested the hypothesis that increasing dietary copper (Cu) to gravid ewes would enhance brown adipose tissue (BAT) thermogenesis in their offspring. Methods: Twin-bearing ewes were assigned on d 70 of gestation to diets containing 3, 10, or 20 ppm dietary Cu (n = 8 per group). Twin lambs were assigned at birth to a cold (6℃) or warm (28℃) environmental chamber for 48 h. Blood was collected from ewes and from lambs and perirenal BAT was collected after 48 h in the environmental chambers. Results: Prenatal Cu exposure increased ewe plasma triiodothyronine (T<sub>3</sub>) and thyroxine concentration (T<sub>4</sub>) (p<0.01) but prenatal Cu exposure had no effect on lamb plasma concentrations of T<sub>3</sub>, T<sub>4</sub>, glucose, or nonesterified fatty acid concentration (p≥0.08). The high level of prenatal Cu exposure depressed 48-h rectal temperature (p = 0.03). Cold exposure decreased BAT norepinephrine (NE) and increased BAT dopamine (p≤0.01), but prenatal Cu exposure had no effect on BAT cytochrome C oxidase activity or BAT NE or dopamine (p≥0.07). However, BAT of lambs from high-Cu ewes maintained higher uncoupling protein-1 (UCP1) gene expression than BAT of lambs from low- and medium-Cu ewes following warm or cold exposure in environmental chambers (p = 0.02). Cold exposure caused near depletion of BAT lipid by 48 h (p<0.001), increased BAT cytochrome c oxidase activity (p<0.01), and depressed plasma fatty acid concentrations (p<0.001). Conclusion: Although prenatal Cu exposure increased BAT UCP1 expression during warm and cold exposure, prenatal cold Cu exposure depressed 48-h rectal temperature. Cold exposure decreased BAT lipid content by over 80% and decreased lamb plasma fatty acid concentration by over 40%, indicating that fuel reserves for thermogenesis were nearly depleted by 48 h of cold exposure.
Control Elements and Factors in Eukaryotic DNA Replication

Replication of simian virus 40 (SV40) DNA is controlled by a 64 base-pair viral DNA sequence which serves as the origin of DNA replication, the viral protein T-antigen, which binds to the origin DNA and is required for initiation of each round of replication, and by so far unknown protein(s) provided by the primate host cell. We have recently identified and purified a monkey cell factor (MCF) that binds specifically to DNA sequences in the SV40 origin of replication. MCF also binds to single-stranded DNA and associates with the cellular DNA polymerase alpha. Binding activity of MCF on mutant origin templates is correlated with replication activity of the mutant origins in vivo. The role of MCF in SV40 DNA replication in vitro, binding of MCF to putative cellular origins of replication, and the nature of putative cellular termination sequences are under investigation.

Vineatrol^ⓡ30 (developed and produced jointly by Breko GmbH [Bremen, Germany] and Actichem [Montauban, France]) is a grapevine-shoot extract that contains resveratrol as well as considerable amounts of resveratrol oligomers. In the present study it is shown that Vineatrol30 at a noncytotoxic concentration of 2.3μg/mL significantly reduced the number of malignantly transformed foci induced by a sequential treatment of BALB/c-3T3 cells with 3-methylcholanthrene and 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol 13-acetate in the so-called BALB/c-3T3 cell transformation assay. At a higher concentration Vineatrol30 drastically decreased the relative plating efficiency of the cells. Furthermore, the results suggest that the resveratrol oligomers present in Vineatrol30, independently from resveratrol itself, were indeed able to inhibit the formation of malignantly transformed BALB/c-3T3 foci.
SOME REMARKS ON THE CONVERGENCE OF ADAPTIVE FINITE ELEMENT METHODS

Adaptive finite element methods converge consists of the typical steps SOLVE, ESTIMATE, MARK, REFINE and successively design a sequence of meshes and associated discrete subspaces plus approximations of primal and dual variables to the unknown exact solutions. The optimal convergence is observed in many empirical studies but only recently discovered in theoretical justifications. This presentation comments on some plain convergence results as well as on more recent optimality results. Applications include linear and nonlinear problems as well as conforming and nonstandard finite element schemes.

Plasma electrolytic oxidation of magnesium alloys is a well known technique to produce corrosion and wear resistant coatings. The addition of particles to the electrolyte provides a possibility to produce coatings with an increasing range of composition by in-situ incorporation of those particles into the coating. An extensive literature review has revealed that the mode of incorporation depends mainly on the melting point of the used particles and the energy provided by the discharges of the PEO process. The spectrum ranges from inert to partly reactive incorporation, but a complete reactive incorporation and a formation of a new single phase coating was not observed so far. Thus a new approach in PEO processing is introduced using specific particles as a kind of sintering additive, changing not only the composition but lowering the melting temperature and increase the liquid phase fraction during the discharges, resulting in a new amorphous coating.
SEARCH TRIANGLE: INTEGRATING SEARCH INTENTION IN SEARCH ENGINE ADVERTISING

Search query information has been neglected in the evaluation and management of search engine advertising. Based on a search engine advertising campaign for a 4 year period, this study explores if search advertising metrics vary for informational, transactional, and navigational search intentions. Differences across these intentions were found for the advertising rank, click-through rate, cost per click, offline signing rate, and cost per contract. As a result, the study proposes the integration of search intention in search engine advertising management by incorporating the available search query information. This notion of keywords as a composition of different search intentions challenges the current practice of evaluating search engine advertising on a one-dimensional keyword basis.
