        Adaptive Fault-Tolerant Dynamic Output Feedback Control for a Class of Linear Time-Delay Systems

        This paper considers the problem of adaptive fault-tolerant guaranteed cost controller design via dynamic output feedback for a class of linear time-delay systems against actuator faults. A new variable gain controller is established, whose gains are tuned by the designed adaptive laws. More relaxed sufficient conditions are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), compared with the corresponding fault-tolerant controller with fixed gains. A real application example about river pollution process is presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

        Stayed Buckle Cable Recycling for Seismic Upgrading of Super-long-span Concrete Filled Steel Tube Arch Bridges

        A seismic upgrading approach for super-large-span upper-deck concrete-filled steel tube arch bridges using the stayed buckle cables (SBCs, which are temporary facilities for construction of long-span arch bridges) was proposed. The arrangement of SBCs most beneficial to the seismic resistance of arch bridges was determined. The results show that the reasonable arrangement of SBCs can achieve significant seismic performance improvement, reduce the stress demand on the diagonal of the arch rib, and improve the capacity-demand ratios of the weak sections of the arch rib. In upgrading model, the max displacement response of the structure is decreased by 41.3%, the max tensile stress on the diagonal is decreased by 30.1%, the max compression stress demand on the diagonal decreased by 18.0%, the CDRs of sections of the arch ribs are greatly improved.

        Role of miR-223 in the pathophysiology of liver diseases

        MiRNAs are small, noncoding RNAs, which can regulate gene expression posttranscriptionally, and they have emerged as key factors in disease biology by aiding in disease development and progression. MiR-223 is highly conserved during evolution and it was first described as a modulator of hematopoietic lineage differentiation. MiR-223 has an essential part in inflammation by targeting the nuclear factor-κB pathway and the nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor protein 3 inflammasome. Recent studies have shown that miR-223 expression is deregulated in various types of liver diseases, including hepatitis virus infections, alcohol-induced liver injury, drug-induced liver injury, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. As inflammatory and immune factors are involved in the occurrence and progress of liver diseases, deregulated miR-223 may participate in the pathogenesis of these conditions by influencing neutrophil infiltration, macrophage polarization, and inflammasome activation. This review first summarizes the present understanding of the biological functions of miR-223, including its gene location and transcription regulation, as well as its physiological role in hematopoietic differentiation. This review then focuses on the role of miR-223 in liver pathophysiology and its potential applications as a diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target in liver diseases.

      • Performance Analysis of Phonetic Form of Female Characters in <Struggles in An Ancient City> ― Taking Jin Huan for Example

        Struggles in An Ancient City is a modern national opera of counter-Japanese war adapted from the novel of the same name written by Li Yingru. It is one of the most influential operas in the original opera of China in recent years. To commemorate the 60th anniversary of victory of Chinese counter-Japanese war and the world’s anti-fascist war in 2005, general administration opera creates and rehearse the opera. It is adapted from the main plot of the novel to show a story of struggle of our Party in the counter-Japanese war in an ancient city in the north. The paper is based on the VCD version of Struggle in An Ancient City. Through the reference study, analysis and conclusion, the female character in the opera, Jin Huan, is starting point to have a study with the samples of important singing part of Jin Huan, from the creation background to the music features of singing (including analysis of language, phonetics and singing). As to conclusion, there is a brief carding of the thread of the article to explain that factors such as emotion, mood, language are combined with female character’s performance of phonetic form in the Struggle in An Ancient City. Hope that the paper could make vocal enthusiasts to have a more comprehensive knowledge to Jin Huan in the opera. At the same time, the paper will carefully describe the singing analysis and singing processing of the analysis of song, so it may be reference for the vocal learning enthusiasts.       • Distinct Pro-Apoptotic Properties of Zhejiang Saffron against Human Lung Cancer Via a Caspase-8-9-3 Cascade

        Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Here we investigated the antitumor effect and mechanism of Zhejiang (Huzhou and Jiande) saffron against lung cancer cell lines, A549 and H446. Using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), the contents of crocin I and II were determined. In vitro, MTT assay and annexin-V FITC/PI staining showed cell proliferation activity and apoptosis to be changed in a dose- and time-dependent manner. The inhibition effect of Jiande saffron was the strongest. In vivo, when mice were orally administered saffron extracts at dose of 100mg/kg/d for 28 days, xenograft tumor size was reduced, and ELISA and Western blotting analysis of caspase-3, -8 and -9 exhibited stronger expression and activity than in the control. In summary, saffron from Zhejiang has significant antitumor effects in vitro and in vivo through caspase-8-caspase-9-caspase-3 mediated cell apoptosis. It thus appears to have more potential as a therapeutic agent.

        Cutaneous metastasis: a rare phenomenon of colorectal cancer

        Cutaneous metastases from colorectal cancer are extremely rare and generally appear several years after diagnosis or resection of the primary tumor. Although this phenomenon is uncommon, it is very important and often indicates a poor prognosis. We present a case of a 76-year-old female patient with multiple cutaneous metastatic nodules on the back, just 1 month after resection of rectal cancer. Unfortunately, the patient gave up the follow-up treatment due to her age and poor physical condition; she died 3 months later. In view of its rarity of occurrence and lack of experience in treatment, we reviewed the literature and report as follows.

        In Vitro and In Vivo Inhibitory Effects of Gaseous Chlorine Dioxide Against Diaporthe batatas Isolated from Stored Sweetpotato

        Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) can be used as an alternative disinfectant for controlling fungal contamination during postharvest storage. In this study, we tested the in vitro and in vivo inhibitory effects of gaseous ClO2 against Diaporthe batatas SP-d1, the causal agent of sweetpotato dry rot. In in vitro tests, spore suspensions of SP-d1 spread on acidified potato dextrose agar were treated with various ClO2 concentrations (1-20 ppm) for 0-60 min. Fungal growth was significantly inhibited at 1 ppm of ClO2 treatment for 30 min, and completely inhibited at 20 ppm. In in vivo tests, spore suspensions were drop-inoculated onto sweetpotato slices, followed by ClO2 treatment with different concentrations and durations. Lesion diameters were not significantly different between the tested ClO2 concentrations; however, lesion diameters significantly decreased upon increasing the exposure time. Similarly, fungal populations decreased at the tested ClO2 concentrations over time. However, the sliced tissue itself hardened after 60-min ClO2 treatments, especially at 20 ppm of ClO2. When sweetpotato roots were dip-inoculated in spore suspensions for 10 min prior to treatment with 20 and 40 ppm of ClO2 for 0-60 min, fungal populations decreased with increasing ClO2 concentrations. Taken together, these results showed that gaseous ClO2 could significantly inhibit D. batatas growth and dry rot development in sweetpotato. Overall, gaseous ClO2 could be used to control this fungal disease during the postharvest storage of sweetpotato.

      • The Huge ovarian mass mimicking a uterine sarcoma

        Uterine sarcomas are rare mesodermal tumors that account for 3-7% of uterine cancer. They are a heterogeneous group of tumors and have poor prognosis. It is difficult to diagnosis at preoperatively, that the positive predictive value using image study such as Abdominal Pelvis computed tomography (AP-CT) or Pelvis magnetic resonance (MRI) scan is very low. We present a rare case of the primary ovarian fibrothercoma mimicking uterine sarcoma. A 89-years old postmenopausal women present with progressive abdominal pain and palpable abdominal mass. AP-CT revealed about 16cm sized uterine was suspected uterine sarcoma. Tumor markers are normal range. She underwent exploratory laparotomy. There are a huge irregular hard mass with several feeding vessels originated right ovary and grossly normal uterus and left adnexa. A surgical exploration was performed within whole abdomen. there was no metastatic nodules. we performed Right salpingo-oophorectomy and requested frozen biopsy at pathologist. It was a ovarian stromal tumor. Therefore, we performed total hysterectomy, Left salpingo-oophorectomy and both pelvic lymph node biopsy. The final pathologic diagnosis documented an ovarian fibrothecoma. This case reported an unusual case of the primary ovarian fibrothecoma mimicking uterine sarcoma.

      • Reactive Power-Voltage Integrated Control Method Based on MCR

        In power system, the voltage pulsation and deficiency or surplus of reactive power will have a great effect on the quality of electric power supply. Dynamicly local reactive power compensation is one of the best methods to reduce the power network loss and improve the efficiency of transmission and distribution.Through the effective methods of compensation, we can keep the balance of reactive power in the maximum degree by the maintenance of acceptable voltage. This paper firstly describes the principles of synthetic compensation of reactive power and voltage then analyzes the principle of magnetically controlled reactor-MCR in detail and derives the characteristics, secondly analyses the disadvantages of the conventional reactive power compensation devices and the advantages of MCR, thirdly on this basis designs a control strategy of reactive power and voltage which is based on MCR,so as to achieve the goal of dynamic reactive power compensation. At the end of paper, simulator and experimental research are carried out for the model of compensation method; the results accord with the theoretical analyses done before. So the compensation method is proved to be accurate in theory and feasible in practice.
