Substation emergency power system is to supply uninterruptible power to the substation facilities such as remote control unit, communication unit, light system, and etc. Lead acid batteries are commonly used for this uninterruptible power system. However, lead acid batteries contain Pb, H₂SO₄, H₂S and etc. which are environmentally hazardous chemicals. These batteries should be installed in an isolated room which is sufficiently big for 60 sets of batteries connected in series. The failure of only one set of the batteries directly causes the loss of their function. This paper introduces new substation emergency power system which uses Li-ion battery to avoid the disadvantages of lead acid battery.

The roots of both Aralia continentalis and Angelica biserrata, known as 'Dokwhal' in Korea, have been used widely as a traditional oriental medicine to treat inflammation and thrombosis. However, the pharmacological differences between A. continentalis and A. biserrata have not been fully established. In the present study, we investigated and compared the inhibitory effects of 70% ethanolic extracts of A. continentalis (ACE) and A. biserrata (ABE) on the production of inflammatory mediators and secondary swelling from chemically induced ear edema. In RAW264.7 macrophages, both ACE and ABE significantly inhibited the release of nitric oxide, prostaglandin $E_2$, interlukin-lbeta, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha in a dose dependent manner. In addition, the swelling from TPA-induced edema in mouse ears was reduced by ACE and ABE. Overall, ACE showed stronger activities than ABE in vitro and in vivo. Our results indicate that A. continentalis roots possess stronger anti-inflammatory activity than A. biserrata roots.

Objective: Mammographic density is an independent risk factor for breast cancer that can change after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT). This study aimed to evaluate percent changes in volumetric breast density (ΔVbd%) before and after NCT measured automatically and determine its value as a predictive marker of pathological response to NCT. Materials and Methods: A total of 357 patients with breast cancer treated between January 2014 and December 2016 were included. An automated volumetric breast density (Vbd) measurement method was used to calculate Vbd on mammography before and after NCT. Patients were divided into three groups according to ΔVbd%, calculated as follows: Vbd (post-NCT − pre-NCT)/pre-NCT Vbd x 100 (%). The stable, decreased, and increased groups were defined as -20% ≤ ΔVbd% ≤ 20%, ΔVbd% < -20%, and ΔVbd% > 20%, respectively. Pathological complete response (pCR) was considered to be achieved after NCT if there was no evidence of invasive carcinoma in the breast or metastatic tumors in the axillary and regional lymph nodes on surgical pathology. The association between ΔVbd% grouping and pCR was analyzed using univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses. Results: The interval between the pre-NCT and post-NCT mammograms ranged from 79 to 250 days (median, 170 days). In the multivariable analysis, ΔVbd% grouping (odds ratio for pCR of 0.420 [95% confidence interval, 0.195–0.905; P = 0.027] for the decreased group compared with the stable group), N stage at diagnosis, histologic grade, and breast cancer subtype were significantly associated with pCR. This tendency was more evident in the luminal B-like and triple-negative subtypes. Conclusion: ΔVbd% was associated with pCR in breast cancer after NCT, with the decreased group showing a lower rate of pCR than the stable group. Automated measurement of ΔVbd% may help predict the NCT response and prognosis in breast cancer.

<P>The thermal and electrical stabilities of two epoxy-impregnated GdBCO coils, one wet-wound with epoxy resin every turn and the other impregnated with epoxy resin using vacuum pressure impregnation (VPI) after dry-winding, were evaluated through cool-down, over-current, and repetitive cooling tests. During the cool-down test, the VPI coil showed a more rapid cooling rate compared to the wet-wound coil. The VPI coil also exhibited better thermal and electrical stabilities in the over-current tests because the quench heat could easily be dissipated due to the absence of epoxy between turns. Moreover, in the repetitive cooling tests, the VPI coil exhibited reduced degradation in the superconducting property compared to the wet-wound coil due to lower vulnerability to the discrepancy of thermal contraction between the GdBCO tape and the epoxy resin.</P>
