Massive ovarian deema is a tate condition. It is a benign enlargement of the ovary caused by accumulation of fluid, which is thought to result from intermittent partial torsion of the ovarian pedicle. Histologically, the ovaries were characterized by diffuse edema of medulla and inner cortex. Two cases of massive ovanan edema are reported with brief review of the literatures.
Identification of Potential Serum Biomarkers in Mercury-Treated Mice Using a Glycoproteomic Approach

<P>Mercury is a well-recognized health hazard and a deleterious environmental contaminant. Exposure to mercury can cause neurotoxic manifestations, nephrotoxicity, and immune function alterations; however, the mechanisms and related proteins responsible for these effects are still unclear. Our goal is to understand the relationship between the toxicity of mercury and the proteins affected by this toxic heavy metal and to define biomarkers for mercury intoxication. Two different forms of mercury, organic methylmercury or inorganic mercury sulfide, were orally administered to the mice for 4 weeks. To reduce complexity of the serum proteome, we enriched glycoproteins from mice serum with lectin concanavalin A resin, and the tryptic peptides of the purified glycoproteins were subjected to nanoultra performance liquid chromatography-Quadrupole time-of-flight for identification and label-free quantification. In this study, we characterized approximately 209 proteins from mice serum, and, among them, 21 proteins were differentially expressed in organic methylmercury-treated mice serum compared with the control group. Two proteins, serum amyloid P component (SAP) and inter α-trypsin inhibitor heavy chain 4 (ITI-H4), were upregulated in organic methylmercury-treated mice and confirmed with different doses of both types of mercury by Western blot analysis. Results of immunohistochemistry also confirmed the validity of SAP and ITI-H4 as biomarker candidates for organic methylmercury exposure. Findings of this study may assist in understanding the relationship between toxicity of mercury and upregulated proteins in mouse serum. Furthermore, the proteins identified here might be used as biomarker candidates in mercury intoxication.</P>
Crossed-coils 자왜센서를 이용한 장거리 파이프의 진단

본 논문은 효율적으로 비틀림파를 송ㆍ수신하는 Crossed-coils 자왜센서를 이용하여 장거리파이프를 대상으로 비틀림파를 송ㆍ수신한 결과를 제시한다. 잔류자계를 이용하여 비틀림파를 송수신하는 방법보다 Crossed-coils 자왜센서에서 발생하는 비틀림파는 장거리 전파가 가능함을 알 수 있었다. Crossed-coils 자왜센서는 센서로부터 장거리에 존재하는 용접부의 위치를 정확하게 판별이 가능했다. 따라서 Crossed-coils 자왜센서는 장거리 파이프의 결함검출에 유용함을 알 수 있었다.

<P>The developmental stage has an influence on the overall responses of plants under biotic or abiotic stress conditions. However, there is a lack of data about the effects of ionizing radiation in plants at different developmental stages. We examined radiation sensitivity of <I>Arabidopsis</I> plants in terms of photosynthetic ability and oxidative stress resistance at two distinct vegetative and reproductive stages, which correspond to 23 and 43 d after seeding (DAS), respectively. When plants were exposed to γ rays at a dose rate 50 Gy h<SUP>–1</SUP> for 4 h, they were characterized as various common or differential cellular responses depending on the developmental stage. Radial expansion of leaves, inhibition of non-photochemical quenching, and production of •O<SUB>2</SUB><SUP>–</SUP> and H<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> under methyl viologen-induced photooxidative stress were commonly more conspicuous in the irradiated leaves of both plants than in the respective control. In contrast, the 23 and 43-DAS plants were explicitly discriminated in growth, chloroplast number & ultrastructure, photosynthetic pigment content & activity, and protein damage after γ irradiation. Natural leaf senescence was thereby enhanced in the irradiated leaves of the 23-DAS plants, while it was reversely alleviated in those of the 43-DAS ones. These results suggest that photosynthetic machineries of <I>Arabidopsis</I> plants at the reproductive stage can be relatively tolerant to γ rays of 200 Gy.</P>

최근, LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) 산업에서 클린룸의 규모가 커짐에 따라 Stocker 시스템의 사이즈가 커지고 길이가 장거리화 되고 있다. 이에 제조업체는 생산수율을 높이기 위해 Stocker 시스템의 전체 택타임을 줄이기 위한 방안으로 Stocker 시스템의 속도를 증가시키도록 요구하고 있다. 또한, 제조업체는 고유가 시대에 여러 장비들에 대한 에너지 절약을 통한 공장 운영비용이 최소화되도록 요구하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 차세대 Stocker 시스템의 에너지 절감과 이송 속도증가에 따른 비접촉 전원시스템의 최적설계를 제안하고, 에너지 절감을 위한 비접촉 전원시스템의 시제품을 제작하여 부하인 크레인의 여러 운전 패턴에 따른 비접촉 전원시스템의 실증시험과 입/출력 특성, 효율 개선에 따른 비접촉 전원시스템을 개발하여 에너지 절감 효과에 대하여 서술하였다.
