Antioxidant activity of hot water extract from Hydrallgea macrophylla var. thunbergii

The aim of this study is to evaluate antioxidant activities of Hydrallgea macrophylla var. thunbergii(Sookuk tea) extracts. Hot water extract of Sookuk tea leave was fractionated serially by n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol. The antioxidant activity of each fraction was tested using a DPPH method. The IC50 value for scavenging 50% DPPH radicals was 2.50±0.04 mg/mL for hot water extract of Sookuk tea leave. Among the fractions, the IC50 value of ethyl acetate fraction was the lowest (0.461±0.004 mg/mL) and the residual aqueous fraction was the highest (6.30±0.30 mg/mL). The total polyphenol and flavonoid content of the ethyl acetate fraction were the highest, which supported the strong antioxidant activity of the fraction.

The effect of oven firing on the color stability and surface texture of extrinsic stains used characterization and color modification of metal cermic restoration were studied by comparing different temperatures and techniques. They were autoglaze technique, applied glaze technique, two step low-fusing glaze technique and one step low-fusing glaze technique. Autoglaze technique and applied glaze technique were air-fired to manufacturer's recommended temperature. Two step low-fusing glaze technique is separated staining and overglazing. Thin slurry of stain powder were air-fired to $1500^{\circ}F$, Overglaze powder powder was then mixed with seam medium and air-fired to $170^{\circ}F$. One step low-fusing glaze technique is combined staining and overglazing. Thin slurry of stain and glaze powder were air-fired to $170^{\circ}F$. The obtained results were as fellows. 1. Slightly significant color differences by colorimeter were found between different stain application and fusion techniques(P<0.05). 2. Two step low-fusing glaze method showed the most rough surface, especially ceramco orage stain(P<0.05). 3. Surface roughness increased gradually in order of autoglaze, applied glaze, one step low-fusing glaze but they were not significantly different(P<0.05). 4. When two step low-fusing glaze was applied, both color measurement and surface texture were sinificantly different from other groups(P<0.05).

인터넷 사용자들의 요구에 부응하기 위해 인터넷 트래픽은 점차 멀티미디어화, 고대역화로 나아가고 있다. 이에 따라 초고속 통신망의 구축이 전 세계적으로 활발히 이루어지고 있으며 고속의 백본망에서 고속 라우터의 중요성이 대두 되었다. 고속 라우터는 차세대 인터넷 환경의 핵심장비이며, 고속 라우터를 안정적이며 효율적으로 관리하는 것이 중요한 문제로 대두되고 있다. 아울러 현재 고속 라우터에서 제공하는 다양한 응용 서비스를 효율적이고, 편리한 방법으로 제공할 수 있도록 해주는 망관리 매니저의 역할이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 고속 라우터 시스템의 Web 기반 SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) 망관리 매니저 기능과 EWS(Embedded Wed Server)을 이용한 운용자 정합기능을 설계하였다.

To clarify the neurotoxicity of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) in cultured hippocampal neurons derived from neonatal mouse, cytotoxicity was measured by MTS assay after cultured cells were grown for 5 hours in the media containing 1∼20μM concentrations of H2O2. In addition, the neuroprotective effect of Uncariae Ramulus Cum Uncis was measured in these cultrures. Cell viability was positively decreased in a dose-dependent manner after exposure of cultured mouse hippocampal neurons to 10μM H2O2 for 5 hours. In the neuroprotective effect of Uncariae Ramulus Cum Uncis on H2O2-mediated toxicity, Uncariae Ramulus Cum Uncis prevented the H2O2-induced neurotoxicity in these cultures. From these results, it suggests that H2O2 is toxic in cultured hippocampal neurons derived from neonatal mouse and selective herb extract such as Uncariae Ramulus Cum Uncis is effective in prevetion of the neurotoxicity induced by H2O2.

Wheat is the most widely cultivated grain and an important source of food and dietary protein. Wheat proteins are classified based on extraction in different solvents, which are albumin, globulin, prolamin (gliadin) and glutenin. The term `gluten` contains approximately equal amounts of gliadin and glutenin and is the major determinant of the properties of wheat flour conferring cohesiveness and viscoelasticity that allows its dough to be processed into many kinds of food. Gluten is known to be responsible for triggering celiac disease and wheat allergy. Wheat allergy is primarily an IgE-mediated response. Clinical manifestations of wheat allergy are similar to those of other food allergies, with symptoms on the skin, gut and respiratory tract. Recent studies have shown that IgE to gliadin can be an indicator for risk of severe immediate reaction-like anaphylaxis and wheat- dependent, exercise-induced anaphylaxis (WDEIA). However, current in vitro test reagents for the diagnosis of wheat allergy mainly contain water-soluble wheat protein and a small amount of gluten, so there are some limitations to diagnose gluten allergy. Furthermore, there is no acceptable method to measure gluten in food products for preparing effective gluten-free diet. To overcome these limitations and to improve quality of life of wheat allergy sufferers, more work is needed. We report a case of a 4-year-old boy with gluten allergy who presented with urticaria after ingestion kneaded wheat flour with a brief review of the literature.
