        비소에 의해 유도된 상악골 골수염의 증례보고

        Arsenic trioxide is one of the 'tooth pulp devitalizing agents' used through the dental history when anaesthesia was not available. But owing to its capacity to kill cells in surrounding tissues, the use of arsenic trioxide in vital pulpotomy has been reduced. Arsenic trioxide can cause necrosis of gingiva, bone which can cause osteomyelitis of the jaws. But some dentists still continue to use arsenic trioxide in their endodontic practices. The purpose of this article is to present arsenic trioxide induced osteomyelitis on maxilla and treatment process.

        상악동 전벽을 침범한 석회화 치성 낭종의 치험례

        Calcifying odontogenic cyst(COC) is comparatively rare in occurrence. COC represents about 1% of jaw cysts, and although it may occur in soft tissue, it is most commonly found within bone. Both the intraosseous and extraosseous forms occur with about equal frequency in the maxilla and mandible, mainly in the incisor and canine areas The most notable features of this pathologic entity are histopathological and include a cyst lining demonstrating characteristic "ghost" epithelial cells with a propensity to calcify and the occasional association of this finding with certain odontogenic tumors including the odontoma and the ameloblastoma. In this case, COC was associated with anterior wall of the maxillary sinus which appeared in the anterior maxilla of 64-year-old woman, was reported. We report that the clinical experience of COC with review of literatures.

        증기운 폭발을 받는 플랜트 시설물의 내폭설계를 위한 구조 해석 모델 개발

        In this study, a nonlinear dynamic analysis of a frame and single member, which reflect the characteristics of a plant facility, is performed using the commercial MIDAS GEN program and the results are analyzed. The general structural members and material properties of the plant are considered. The Newmark average-acceleration numerical-analysis method is applied to a plastic hinge to study material nonlinearity. The blast load of a vapor-cloud explosion, a representative plant explosion, is calculated, and nonlinear dynamic analysis is conducted on a frame and single member. The observed dynamic behavior is organized according to the ratio of natural period to load duration, maximum displacement, ductility, and rotation angle. The conditions and range under which the frame functions as a single member are analyzed and derived. NSFF with a beam-column stiffness ratio of 0.5 and ductility of 2.0 or more can be simplified and analyzed as FFC, whereas NSPF with a beam-column stiffness ratio of 0.5 and ductility of 1.5 or more can be simplified and analyzed as FPC. The results of this study can serve as guidelines for the blast-resistant design of plant facilities.

        『사민필지』의 간행·漢譯과 근대 지식의 변용

        호머 헐버트(Homer B. Hulbert)가 1890년 간행한 『사민필지』는 인류의 보편적 가치를 추구한 교과서였던 것이지 한국의 지배계급에게 필요한 권력화된 지식을 제공하는 도구가 아니었다. 하지만 학부의 보수적 지배자들은 『사민필지』를 통해 언어·지식 권력을 공고히 하는 한역본 『士民必知』를 간행하였다. 한역본이 국가에 의한 교육기관에 본격적으로 유통·활용되면서 근대 지식은 변용·정착되기 시작했으며 이에 영향을 받은 개정본 및 3판본 『사민필지』 역시 개념을 수정하고 아울러 당시의 시대적 상황을 반영하는 양상을 띠었다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 결국 근대 교과서의 시초라 할 수 있는 『사민필지』는 단순한 서구의 모방이 아니라 한국의 전통적인 교육을 근대적 현실에 맞게 조정하고 변용하는 과정에서 탄생되었던 것이다. 특히 근대적 지식의 창출과 변용 그리고 사회화 과정이 『사민필지』 초판본과 한역본 그리고 개정본 및 3판본으로 이어지는 과정에서 잘 나타난다고 할 수 있다. 『Saminpilji』 published by Homer B. Hulbert in 1890 was not a tool for providing the empowered knowledge necessary to the ruling class of Korea, but a textbook that pursued the universal value of mankind. However, the conservative rulers of college published a Chinese Character version 『Saminpilji』 that could solidify the language/knowledge power. As the Chinese Character version was fully distributed and utilized in national educational institutes, the modern knowledge started getting transformed/settled, and the revised-version and third edition 『Saminpilji』 influenced by it also modified the concept and showed the aspect of reflecting the condition of the time. Eventually, 『Saminpilji』 that could be the beginning of modern textbooks, was not a simple imitation of the West, but born in the process of adjusting and transforming our traditional education suitable for the modern reality. Especially, this process of knowledge creation/transformation and socialization is fully shown in the continuity of the first edition, Chinese Character version, and revised-version & third edition of 『Saminpilji』.

        청소년기 여자에서 고칼슘 섭취가 아연과 구리 평형에 미치는 영향

        건강한 16세 여고생 8명에게 한국인 권장량 수준인 800 mg의 칼슘을 함유한 정상칼슘식사를 1주간 섭취시키고, 그 다음 주에 1200 mg Ca을 함유한 고칼슘식사를 제공하였다. 이 때 정상칼슘식사에서는 6.57 mg의 아연과 910 μg의 구리를 함유하였으며 고칼슘식사에서는 6.37 mg의 아연과 812 μg의 구리를 평균적으로 함유하였다. 해당 식사를 제공하고 4일째부터 3일간 뇨와 대변을 매일 수집하였으며 음식과 뇨, 변 중 구리와 아연 함량을 정량분석하여 외견적 흡수율 및 체내 보유량을 계산하였다. 구리 및 아연의 평형대사 실험을 한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 아연의 대사평형을 보면, 고칼슘식사 섭취시의 뇨와 대변 중 아연 배설량은 정상칼슘식사시에 비해 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 그리고 아연의 체내 보유량은 고칼슘식사 섭취시 유의적으로 감소하였다(p<0.05). 구리의 대사평형을 보면, 고칼슘식사 섭취시 대변을 통한 구리 배설량은 19.2 μg으로 정상칼슘식사시의 11.4 μg에 비해 유의적으로 증가하였으며, 따라서 외견적 흡수율은 유의적으로 감소하였다(p<0.05). 소변을 통한 구리의 배설은 거의 나타나지 않았다. 또한 구리의 체내 보유량은 고칼슘식사시에 792 μg으로 정상칼슘식사시의 899 μg에 비해 유의적으로 감소하였다(p<0.05). 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 1200 mg의 칼슘식사를 섭취하면 청소년기 여성에게서 구리와 아연의 외견적 흡수율이 감소하고, 대변을 통한 배설이 증가하며, 체내보유량은 유의적으로 감소하는 등 대사에 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로 칼슘의 다량 섭취는 미량원소의 대사에 크게 영향을 미칠 수 있으므로 필요한 미량원소의 경우 장에서 흡수시에 무기질간의 경쟁을 고려하여 적절한 양을 섭취하도록 권장량 설정에서 고려해야 할 것이다. Intakes and excretions of zinc and copper were determined for 8 female adolescents (aged 16.4±0.5 y; body mass index 20.4±1.3 kg/㎡; body fat 33.3±2.5%; bone mineral density of lumbar spine in L2-L4; 0.96±0.08 g/㎠) when they consumed diets basal and high in calcium for 6 days each. All subjects consumed a basal Ca diet containing 800 mg, Korean RDA level of the subjects, and a high Ca diet containing 1200 mg, RDA plus 2 SDs of calcium intake. The diets provided 58% of energy intake as carbohydrate, 25% as fat, and 17% as protein. Food, urine and fecal samples were collected during the last 3 days of each feeding period and were assayed. Mean daily intakes on the basal and high calcium diets, respectively, were 6.57 and 6.37 mg for zinc and 910 and 812 μg for copper. Fecal excretion of copper and zinc in relation to intake was significantly greater on the high calcium than on the basal calcium diet. Hence, apparent absorption rate was significantly lowered from 98.7% on the basal calcium diet to 97.9% on the high calcium diet for zinc and from 66.3% to 56.4% for copper, respectively. Urinary loss of copper was not detectable but that of zinc was 0.38 mg on the basal diet and 0.47 mg on the high calcium diet. Copper retention was 899±105 μg/day on the basal calcium diet and 792±20.8 μg/day on the high calcium diet, and zinc retention was 3.95±0.91 mg/day and 3.11±0.89 mg/day. Thus, copper and zinc retention was significantly decreased on the high calcium diet (p<0.05). Summarizing the results, apparent absorption and retention of zinc and copper were significantly decreased by calcium supplementation. Therefore, it is suggested that interactions among minerals should be considered in determining RDA.

        여대생의 자기주도 운동적용과 신체구성 및 건강관련체력과의 관계

        Several studies have demonstrated that the implementation of the exercise into an everyday practice and actual practice of it can be achieved through participation in self-directed exercises, ultimately, making one’s in pursuit of satisfaction and happiness in their life. The purpose of this research was to analyze the effect of self-directed exercises on body composition and health-related physical fitness of 93 female university students who conducted self-directed exercises for 12 consecutive months and the results were as follows: First, the differences in body composition of the subjects showed the effect of improvement in the factors of weight, waist-hip ratio, and visceral fat, but the results were not significant. However, body mass index, body fat(%) and fat free mass were significant improvements. As a result of the difference in muscle mass between the right and left arms, the improvement was visible but not that significant. However, Trunk, Right Leg and Left Leg factors showed some noticeable results. Second, the differences in health-related physical fitness showed significant results in all factors such as muscular strength, muscular endurance, agility, flexibility, cardiorespiratory endurance. These results indicate that long-term self-directed exercises has a positive effect on physical fitness and body composition. Therefore, If this was to be implemented to the curriculum and the whole process of university physical education to boost the physical activity participation rate of female university students, it would show not only the direction for physical fitness, but also a way to effectively demonstrate the functionality of liberal art physical education.
