The Reynolds equation, incorporating Elrods cavitation algorithm, is discretized on a rectangular grid in computational space through coordinate mapping in order to accurately analyze a herringbone grooved journal bearing of a spindle motor in a computer hard disk drive. The pressure distribution and cavitation area are determined by using the finite volume method. Predicted results are compared to experimental data of previous researchers. It was found that positive pressure is developed within the converging section of the bearing and that a cavity occurs in the diverging section. Cavitation has been neglected in the previous analysis of the herringbone grooved bearing. Load capacity and bearing torque are increased due to the increased of eccentricity and L/D and the decrease of the grooved width ratio. The maximum load capacity was found to occur at a groove angle of 30 degrees while bearing torque remains constant due to the variation of the groove angle. The cavitation region is significantly decreased with the inclusion of herringbone grooves. However, the region increases with the increase of the eccentricity, L/D, groove angle and the rotational speed and the decrease of the grooved width ratio.

In the present study, effects of sun ginseng (SG) on the collagen synthesis and the proliferation of dermal fibroblast were investigated. Collagen synthesis was measured by assaying procollagen type I C-peptide production. In addition, the level of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-1 was assessed by western blot analysis. SG suppressed the MMP-1 protein level in a dose-dependent manner. In contrast, SG dose-dependently increased tissue inhibitors of MMP (TIMP)-1 production in fi broblasts. SG increased type I collagen production directly and/or indirectly by reducing MMP-1 and stimulating TIMP-1 production in human dermal fi broblasts. SG dose-dependently induced fi broblast pr oliferation and this, in turn, can trigger more collagen production. These results suggest that SG may be a potential pharmacological agent with anti-aging properties in cultured human skin fibroblast.
Methods for Detection and Measurement of Hydrogen Peroxide Inside and Outside of Cells

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is an incompletely reduced metabolite of oxygen that has a diverse array of physiological and pathological effects within living cells depending on the extent, timing, and location of its production. Characterization of the cellular functions of H2O2 requires measurement of its concentration selectively in the presence of other oxygen metabolites and with spatial and temporal fidelity in live cells. For the measurement of H2O2 in biological fluids, several sensitive methods based on horseradish peroxidase and artificial substrates (such as Amplex Red and 3,5,3′5′-tetramethylbenzidine) or on ferrous oxidation in the presence of xylenol orange (FOX) have been developed. For measurement of intracellular H2O2,methods based on dihydro compounds such as 2′,7′-dichlorodihydrofluorescein that fluoresce on oxidation are used widely because of their sensitivity and simplicity. However, such probes react with a variety of cellular oxidants including nitric oxide, peroxynitrite, and hypochloride in addition to H2O2. Deprotection reaction-based probes (PG1 and PC1) that fluoresce on H2O2-specific removal of a boronate group rather than on nonspecific oxidation have recently been developed for selective measurement of H2O2 in cells. Furthermore, a new class of organelletargetable fluorescent probes has been devised by joining PG1 to a substrate of SNAP-tag. Given that SNAP-tag can be genetically targeted to various subcellular organelles,localized accumulation of H2O2 can be monitored with the use of SNAP-tag bioconjugation chemistry. However,given that both dihydro- and deprotection-based probes react irreversibly with H2O2, they cannot be used to monitor transient changes in H2O2 concentration. This drawback has been overcome with the development of redoxsensitive green fluorescent protein (roGFP) probes, which are prepared by the introduction of two redox-sensitive cysteine residues into green fluorescent protein; the oxidation of these residues to form a disulfide results in a conformational change of the protein and altered fluorogenic properties. Such genetically encoded probes react reversibly with H2O2 and can be targeted to various compartments of the cell, but they are not selective for H2O2because disulfide formation in roGFP is promoted by various cellular oxidants. A new type of H2O2-selective, genetically encoded, and reversible fluorescent probe, named HyPer, was recently prepared by insertion of a circularly permuted yellow fluorescent protein (cpYFP) into the bacterial peroxide sensor protein OxyR.

본 논문에서는 RIS(reconfigurable intelligent surface)를 활용한 SLAM(simultaneous localization and mapping)에서 반사되어 수신 가능한 밀리미터파를 모델링한다. 또한, 수신신호의 기하학적 채널모델을 통해 검출확률(detection probabilities)을 유도한다. RIS 소자의 위상 변위와 빔포머 설계에 따른 밀리미터파의 검출확률을 확인하고, SLAM 가능성을 알아본다. In this paper, we present the signal propagation for reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-enabled monostatic simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). Furthermore, we also derive the detection probabilities of the propagated signals from the geometric channel model. Numerical results include the analysis of the detection probabilities, depending on RIS configurations, precoder, and combiner.

2-[(4-Cyanophenyl)amino]-3-chloro-1, 4-naphthalenedione (NQ-Y15) was asssayed for its genotoxic potential by using Salmonella typhimurium reversion assay and in vitro chromosome aberration test on Chinese hamster lung cells. In the Ames test, NQ-Y15 induced his+revertants of Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 and TA 1537, reaching levels twice the negative control values. But, NQ-Y15 induced only his+revertants of Salmonella typhimurium TA 1537 more than twice the control values under the condition with metabolic activation system. In the cytogenetic test on chinese hamster lung cells. NQ-Y15 showed significant chromosomal aberrations, but the incidence was significantly reduced in the presence of metabolic activation.
AIIoxan 유도 당뇨병상태에서 과산화지질생성에 미치는 Brazilin의 효과

Brazilin was tested for its ability to inhibit alloxan induced lipidperoxidation. Lipid peroxide contents in liver, kidney and serum were measured by the TBA method. ICR mice receiving alloxan at a dose of 43mg/kg via the tail vein after a 24 hrs starvation showed significantly increased lipid peroxide contents as compared to untreated control. Lipid peroxide contents in liver, kidney and serum of alloxan-induced diabetic mice were dosedependently decreased by the treatment of brazilin at a dose of 10mg/kg, 50mg/kg, 100 mg/kg for 5 days.

In present study, we fractionated polysaccharides from Croton tiglium and investigated their hepatoprotective effects on CCl$_4$ intoxication. Polysaccharide fraction of which molecular weight is over 300,000 (HP) showed the most potent hepatoprotective effects on CCl$_4$ intoxication. Lipid peroxidation, sAST and sALT were used as parameters to evaluate the liver damage. Glucose, xylose and arabinose were found to be monosaccharides composing sugar moiety of HP.
