The purpose of this paper is to reveal the socio-cultural meaning and effects of Japanese sumo. Sumo is a traditional Japanese culture with a strict tradition and uniqueness and has a special status as a national sport. However, sumo's socio-cultural role and meaning have changed repeatedly depending on the circumstances of the times, and the status of the ‘national sport’ is also the product of the ‘the invention of tradition’. Sumo underwent major changes both politically and ideologically throughout the world war 2 and during the post war era. Originally, sumo was perceived as the empbodying the a body representing the emperor or Japan itself. The huge physique of sumo wrestlers was a symbol of the greatness of imperial Japan. However, it was a body that was "comforting" soldiers under wartime and forcibly mobilized for their "entertainment," and even after the defeat, it had to willing commit to the "comfort" and "entertainment" of the U.S. military. At this time, the sumo wrestlers body served as a form of element that emphasized Japan's lack of civilization demonstrative of its Japan's primitive and shallow culture. Sports watching is that the existing story leaves itself as 'visual evidence'. For example, producing prejudice and specific intentions such as "Black people are ○○" and "Japanese are ○○" becomes an important function of sports viewing. Therefore, watching the match can be seen as a scene that forms a discourse of others and a process for storing a historial memory. In this sense, spectation of sumo itself leaves ‘visual evidence’ of cultural memory. It can be said that sumo was a conceptual location to display the animal physicality of Japanese sumo wrestlers and enforce the discourse of the other Japan constructed by the United States, metaphorically operating as a site of Japanese surrender for the comfort of the occcupying forces. As such, sumo was not just a sports genre, but also a national ideology in of itself, so many changes had to be made under the pressure of the times. In this paper, we examined the socio-cultural meaning created by closely examining the situation of the times and cultural politics involved in sumo.

The conventional PI controller are fragile in parameter variation and load-variation. Therefore, in this paper, a speed control algorithm based on the Fuzzy PI controller is proposed for the high performance speed control of a voltage ?? inverter to drive 3-phase induction motors. The computer simulation and experiment results show that the proposed controller are more excellent control characteristics than conventional PI controller in transient-state and steady-state response.
