        A Study on Potential Defense Export Items Using Data Mining: Focus on the Eastern European Market

        The prolonged Russian-Ukrainian war has increased uncertainty in the global defense export environment, causing countries to increase spending on defense and demand more weapons systems. The defense industry is important for a country's growth as it helps test advanced technologies and gives the private sector an edge. The global defense industry is growing, and the defense export market is set to expand; thus, now is a good time to diversify the defense export market. This can be done by studying unplanned acquisition needs in overseas defense markets. The goal of this study is to analyze unstructured data to provide guidance for defense exports. This study utilizes the STP strategy as a theoretical background. The study aims to identify promising areas for export to specific target countries, focusing on Poland, the Czech Republic, and Romania. They want to strengthen their arsenals after the Russia-Ukraine conflict. As they supported Ukraine with arms, creating a defense power vacuum. They need to respond to the Russian security threat. So, these countries must strengthen their defense capabilities. We collected highly reliable unstructured data on each country's ten-year plan. This data focuses on acquiring weapons systems. Next, we used the TF-IDF technique to identify keywords from these countries' data, helping find important words regarding each country's big projects. Poland's plan for defense spending includes four important keywords on warships, showing it wants to improve its navy. The Czech Republic and Romania both had the highest number of keywords related to operating systems. Then, we sorted the keywords to show the plans shared by all three countries to acquire items. The aim was to promote economies of scale. The analysis showed that 8 of the 21 words refer to obtaining weapon systems for operations. This has revealed promising defense export items.

        The purpose of this paper is to identify determinants that MNCs are able to formulate a global eco-friendly innovation strategy and to see whether the global eco-friendly innovation strategy influences MNC``s business performance or not using the framework of structural equation model as PLS. Drawing on the resource-based view and strategic choice theory for the driver``s perspective, this study hypothesizes that environmental orientation, R&D competence, complementary assets are positively related in the global eco-friendly innovation strategy. Data were obtained through a survey sent to headquarter of Korean multinational enterprises(MNEs) publicly listed in the Korean Stock Exchange in June 2013. The results suggest all variables are related in the global eco-friendly innovation strategy significantly. Furthermore, the results show that the global eco-friendly innovation strategy affects MNC``s business performance positively. Therefore, this study agrees with the researchers affirming that eco-friendly innovation strategies positively influence firm``s business performance while reducing environmental impact.

        Specially-treated Soy Sauces Regulate Antioxidant Activity and ROS in Human Astrocyte U373MG Cells

        Oxidative stress is an outcome of the over-production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) that overwhelms the antioxidant capacities of the cells. Soy sauces have been used for the purpose of prevention and treatment of various diseases in Korea for centuries. Soy sauce is specially fermented and made of special ingredients including bean, wheat, and salt. We investigated the protective effects of soy sauces on ROS production against the H2O2 induced oxidative stress in U373MG cells. We further examined the SOD activity of soy sauces as an antioxidant to determine the effectiveness of bamboo salt (BS) in regard to inhibition of ROS formation. Soy sauces with BS inhibited ROS formation by a factor of 3 to 4 times higher compared with NaCl based soy sauce and even by 1.9 to 2.5 times higher than vitamin E. The SOD activity of BS based soy sauce-pretreated cells, as an antioxidant, were 2.6 to 3.8 times higher than that of vitamin E. On the other hand, NaCl based soy sauce had no significant difference of SOD activity from vitamin E and NaCl. The antioxidant activity of soy sauce is fairly dependent of the quality of the salt used. Therefore, specially treated soy sauce is considered to be an effective antioxidant to inhibit and even eliminate ROS. Consequently, it will not only prevent and treat various oxidative stress-induced diseases, but also delay human brain cell damage-induced aging.

        혼합물 반응표면분석에서 디자인 스페이스 구축을 위한 효율적인 실험계획

        Purpose: The practical design for experiments with mixtures of  components is consisted in the four types of design points, vertex, center of edge, axial, and center points in a    -dimensional simplex space. We propose a sequential method for the successful construction of the design space in Quality by Design (QbD) by allowing the different number of replicates at the four types of design points in the practical design when the quadratic canonical polynomial model is assumed. Methods: To compare the mixture designs efficiency, fraction of design space (FDS) plot is used. We search for the practical mixture designs whose the minimal half-width of the tolerance interval per a standard deviation, which is denoted as , is less than 4.5 at 0.8 fraction of the design space. They are found by adding the different number of replicates at the four types of the design points in the practical design. Results: The practical efficient mixture designs for the number of components between three and five are listed. The sequential method to establish a design space is illustrated with the two examples based on the simulated data. Conclusion: The designs with the center of edge points replications are more efficient than those with the vertex points replication. We propose the sample size of at least 23 for three components, 28 for four components, and 33 for the five components based on the list of efficient mixture designs.

        중소기업의 글로벌 반도체 공급망 ESG 환경경영 가중치 분석에 관한 연구

        Major developed countries have been trying to build a block of the global semiconductor industry supply chain by considering their interests first. And their supply chain due diligence agreement demands the due diligence on environmental risks that may occur throughout the supply chain. So the integrated approach called supply chain ESG is needed. But there is not yet to be a global standard for ESG, and the disclosure standards for each country are different, adding to companies’ confusion. So this study shows environmental evaluation indicators of global semiconductor supply chain ESG customized for Korean SMEs and then performs weight analysis using AHP methodology. Through this, this study aims to suggest implications for gaining sustainability within the supply chain of Korean SMEs by presenting indicators to be considered first among environmental evaluation indicators in preparation for ESG due diligence of the global semiconductor supply chain.

        응급실 재실 중 발생한 심정지 환자의 생존 퇴원과 관련한 요인분석

        Objective: There is limited data on the outcomes of cardiac arrest occurring in emergency departments (ED). The objective of this study was to identify the factors associated with these outcomes, primarily the survival to hospital discharge and the neurological status at discharge in emergency department cardiac arrest (EDCA) patients. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in a tertiary hospital. Adult patients aged over 18 years who had suffered an in-hospital cardiac arrest in the ED between July 2018 to June 2021 were included. The primary outcome was the survival to hospital discharge. Descriptive statistics and logistic regression analyses were performed. Results: We identified 157 ED arrests. Among these, 57.9% of the patients died in the emergency room. A total of 24.1% obtained survival discharge. The combined existing illnesses, such as renal insufficiency or malignancy were directly related to the survival of the patients. A cardiac and respiratory cause of arrest increased the probability of survival (P<0.001). The shorter the time spent on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the higher the chances of survival (odds ratio of 0.84). The subjects in both the survivor and deceased groups were classified as Korean Triage and Acuity Scale 2 (KTAS 2: emergency) or higher (P=0.719). There was no difference in the ED occupancy, which is an emergency room overcrowding indicator. Conclusion: EDCA patients are already in a clinically deteriorated condition. The underlying clinical conditions, the cause of cardiac arrest, the initial rhythm, and the CPR duration time are directly related to the patient’s chances of survival and prognoses. Therefore, it is possible to identify these factors at an early stage and take the appropriate management measures.

        설계기반 품질고도화에서 디자인 스페이스 구축을 위한 효율적인 실험계획

        Purpose: We research on the efficient response surface methodology(RSM) design to develop a design space in Quality by Design(QbD). We propose practical designs for the successful construction of the design space in QbD by allowing different number of replicates at the box points, star points, and the center point in the rotatable central composite design(CCD). Methods: The fraction of design space(FDS) plot is used to compare designs efficiency. The FDS plot shows the fraction of the design space over which the relative standard error of predicted mean response lies below a given value. We search for practical designs whose minimal half-width of the tolerance interval per a standard deviation is less than 4.5 at 0.8 fraction of the design space. Results: The practical designs for the number of factors between two and five are listed. One of the designs in the list could be chosen depending on the experimental budget restriction. Conclusion: The designs with box points replications are more efficient than those with the star points replication. The sequential method to establish a design space is illustrated with the simulated data based on the two examples in RSM.

        A modified LGB method for detecting significant effects based on a half-normal probability plot

        In analyzing data from unreplicated factorial designs, the half-normal probability plot is commonly used to screen for the ‘vital few’ effects. Recently, many formal methods have been proposed to overcome the subjectivity of this plot. Lawson (1998) (hereafter denoted as LGB) suggested a hybrid method based on the half-normal probability plot, which is a blend of Lenth (1989) and Loh (1992) method. The method consists of fitting a simple least squares line to the inliers, which are determined by the Lenth method. The effects exceeding the prediction limits based on the fitted line are candidates for the vital few effects. To improve the accuracy of partitioning the effects into inliers and outliers, we propose a modified LGB method (hereafter denoted as the Mod_LGB method), in which more outliers can be classified by using both the Carling’s modification of the box plot (Carling, 2000) and Lenth method. If no outlier exists or there is a wide range in the inliers as determined by the Lenth method, more outliers can be found by the Carling method. A simulation study is conducted in unreplicated 24 designs with the number of active effects ranging from 1 to 6 to compare the efficiency of the Lenth method, original LGB methods, and the proposed modified version of the LGB method.
