Korean English Writers’ Noticing Peer Errors and Incorporation of Peer Feedback

The present study explores the pedagogical effectiveness of peer feedback in an EFL setting. Little has been known about what kinds of feedback EFL students give to their peers’ writing, what kinds of peer feedback they incorporate or ignore in their revision, and why they incorporate or discard particular feedback from their peers. Data obtained from 80 university students who enrolled in Introductory Business English were analyzed in this study. The participants’ first drafts, peer feedback markings, revised drafts, the teacher’s markings, and open-ended questionnaire responses were collected and analyzed. The results of the study showed that Korean college students could give various types of feedback on peers’ writing. Compared to teachers’ feedback, the students displayed similar patterns of noticing errors except in two categories (word choice and pronoun). The current research evidenced that these EFL students could give feedback confidently (87% of accuracy rate) and incorporate them successfully (79% revision rate) in their later drafts and that both giver and receiver could benefit from peer feedback activities. Further, based on the results obtained in this study, this study lends instructional insight for teachers and warrants the possibility of implementing peer feedback as a pedagogical writing activity in EFL classrooms.

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) offer several advantages, which is why they are considered one of the most important energy storage devices with numerous applications. However, the process of lithium (de)intercalation during charge and discharge cycles can lead to repeated stress and strain, resulting in capacity degradation. This stress can cause battery degradation and structural damage, especially when assembling battery modules or packs. Therefore, it is essential to analyze the stress that occurs between individual cells within a module or pack to mitigate its effects. A swelling test was conducted on both a single cell and three stacked cells to analyze the mechanical stress and strain that occur during charge and discharge cycles through stacking direction. The initial compression caused by the springs had an impact on both mechanical responses and electrochemical performance. Future work aims to develop an electrochemical performance prediction model for batteries based on the experimental data.

본 연구에서는 단일 비산란 그리드 및 다색광 x-선원을 이용하여 위상대조 x-선 영상을 용이하게 구현할 수 있는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 신기법의 개념 입증을 위해 집속형 선형 그리드(200 lines/inch 선 밀도), 마이크로 초점 x-선관(${\sim}5{\mu}m$ 초점크기), CMOS형 평판형 검출기($48{\mu}m$ 픽셀 크기)로 실험장치를 구성하였으며, 한 번의 x-선 촬영($90kV_p$, 0.1 mAs)으로 감약대조 x-선 영상과 향상된 가시성을 지진 산란 x-선 영상 및 차분 위상대조 x-선 영상을 Fourier변조복원 기법을 적용하여 성공적으로 분리 획득하였다. 더 나아가, 감약대조 x-선 영상과 산란 x-선 영상을 합성함으로써 일반 감약대조 x-선 영상에서는 명확하게 볼 수 없는 샘플의 미세 구조를 보다 선명하게 나타냄을 확인하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 단일 비산란 그리드 기반 위상대조 x-선 영상화 기법은 실험 구성 및 절차가 단순하고 새로운 대조도에 기반한 산란 및 위상대조 x-선 영상을 동시에 제공하기 때문에 차세대 x-선 영상화 신기법으로 다양한 응용분야에서 용이하게 적용될 수 있을 것으로 전망한다. In this work, we performed a proof-of-concept experiment for phase-contrast x-ray imaging (PCXI) based on a single antiscatter grid and a polychromatic x-ray source. We established a table-top setup which consists of a focused-linear grid having a strip density of 200 lines/inch, a microfocus x-ray tube having a focal-spot size of about $5{\mu}m$, and a CMOS-type flat-panel detector having a pixel size of $48{\mu}m$. By using our prototype PCXI system and the Fourier demodulation technique, we successfully obtained attenuation, scattering, and differential phase-contrast images of improved visibility from the raw images of several selected samples at x-ray tube conditions of $90kV_p$ and 0.1 mAs. Further, fusion image (e.g., the attenuation+the scattering) may have an advantage in displaying details of the sample's structures that are not clearly visible in the conventional attenuation image. Our experimental results indicate that single-grid-based approach seems a useful method for PCXI with great simplicity and minimal requirements on the setup alignment.

This paper is a study about the robust finite element analysis of whiplash injury under various test conditions. All analysis process should be conducted by the test and evaluation process of the KNCAP whiplash injury protocol for rear impact. First, we review about the deviations of whiplash test results of some seats and examine the repeatability of test results and whiplash injury criteria. Second, we make the orthogonal matrix of test condition variables and analyze the whiplash FE analysis. The design variables become accomplished with the dummy x-directional and z-directional positions of the H-Point, dummy pelvis angles and test pulses. Finally, we analyze the effect of the design variables and suggest the methods for robust whiplash FE analysis under test conditions.
