To investigate the influence of strip width and inter-strip separation on the ac loss, arrays of parallel strips with different widths and separations were prepared. Studies on the hysteresis-loss characteristics of multifilamentary YBCO films were performed. The local magnetic field due to magnetization currents is measured by a scanning Hall probe microscope. Based on these results a conceptual design for a low loss YBCO coated conductor is suggested.

Low temperature scanning laser microscopy (LTSLM) can be used for a two-dimensional display of bolometric response arising from the localized excitation of a sample by the focused laser beam. In this study, the distribution of critical temperature ($T_c$) and critical current density ($J_c$) in YBCO coated conductor were analyzed using LTSLM. For improving the temperature stability, we have modified the system into a double-shielding type. Through the modification, the temperature stability was successfully improved from ${\pm}10mK\;to\;{\pm}2mK$. The superconducting properties of YBCO coated conductors were measured for the sample of a narrow bridge type using wet etching process. The spatial non-uniformity of the ac voltage response, ${\delta}V(x)$, which is proportional to ${\partial}\rho(x,J_B)/{\partial}T$ in the transition temperature region could be observed and displayed in a two-dimensional image.

가돌리늄 박막의 큐리온도를 자기화의 온도에 따른 변화를 측정함으로써 결정하였다. 박막의 큐리온도는 bulk계의 큐리온도보다 낮아지며 이 박막에서의 큐리온도의 이동은 두께가 얇아질수록 커진다는 것이 관측되었다. 이 실험결과를 유한축적 이론의 관점에서 분석한 결과 전이온도의 이동에 관련된 지수 λ는 0.82±0.13로서 이론적인 값의 1.48과 상치한다는 사실이 발견되었다. 이러한 유한계의 실험치와 유한축척이론과 차이는 여러 유한계에서 관측되었다. We determine the Curie temperature of thin gadolinium films by the measurement of magnetizations as a function of temperature. From this measurement, we observe the systematic shift of Curie temperatures for films, that is, the larger the shift is, the thinner the film is. By analyzing the data in light of finite-size scaling theory, we determine the exponent λ to be 0.82±0.13, not equal to the theoretical prediction of 1.48, which is already seen in other experimental works.
