        각막 간질내 공기 주입과 평형염액 주입이 간질세포 자멸사에 미치는 영향 비교

        Purpose: To evaluate the effects of intrastromal air injection and intrastromal balanced salt solution (BSS) injection on corneal keratocyte apoptosis. Methods: Twelve right eyes of New Zealand White rabbits were divided into an air-injected group (n=6) and a hydro-injected group (n=6). Contralateral eyes served as a control. Air or Balanced salt solution (BSS?, Alcon, USA) was injected into the deep corneal stroma at the paracentral area to propagate into nearly the entire cornea. To reduce the intraocular pressure, anterior chamber paracentesis was performed. The animals were sacrificed 4 hours (n=6) and 24 hours (n=6) after surgery. Central cornea buttons were retrieved to stain with Hematoxylin & Eosin and TUNEL (Apoptag?, Chemicon). The mean number of apoptotic keratocytes was counted in 24.67±4.04 consecutive high power field (HPF). Results: The mean number of TUNEL-positive cells at 4 hours was 12.85±7.25/HPF and 0.25±0.44/HPF in air-injected and hydro-injected eyes, respectively. It was reduced to 6.25±4.02/HPF and 0.15±0.37/HPF in air-injected and hydro-injected eyes after 24 hours. The air-injected group showed significantly more TUNEL-positive cells compared with the hydro-injected or control group until 24 hours (p=0.001, p=0.001, Mann-Whitney U test). Conclusions: Intrastromal air injection induces significant apoptosis of keratocytes suggesting some damages in the peripheral cornea when used in deep lamellar keratoplasty.

        Therapeutic effect of chitosan modification on salmon-calcitonin-loaded PLGA nanoparticles

        Although salmon-calcitonin (s_CT) has been known as a potent drug for the treatment of osteoporosis, its oral dosage form products have not been commercially available primarily due to a poor oral bioavailability. Chitosan has been extensively examined as a potential oral absorption enhancer, whereas encapsulation with PLGA has been widely studied to address the delivery problems of typical peptide drug molecules. We investigated the mechanism and therapeutic effect of chitosan modification on the s_CT-loaded PLGA nanoparticles. Chitosan was added onto these particles in two ways: by incorporation during W/O/W emulsification and by solid dipping. Particles were characterized by particle size analyzer, Zeta potential analyzer, scanning electron microscopy, and so forth. Nano-sized particles of 430-590 nm in fairly spherical shape with a narrow size distribution were produced. The PLGA encapsulation efficiency greater than 50% of added s_CT was achieved regardless of chitosan modification. It turned out that s-CT-loaded PLGA particles with chitosan modified during W/O/W emulsification (referred to as s_CT-PLGA-CHT1) showed better therapeutic behavior in terms of sustained release effects as well as short-period hypocalcemic effects than the others. It was concluded that the beneficial effect was greatly associated with the formation of embedded structure of chitosan molecules when particles were modified with chitosan.

        A Case of Cystitis with Bilateral Hydronephrosis Presenting with Gross Hematuria

        평소 건강했던 아이들에서 육안적 혈뇨는 드물게 나타나며, 수신증과 동반된 경우 또한 드물다. 3세 남아가 육안적 혈뇨와 배뇨통을 주소로 내원하였다. 소변검사에서 농뇨, 혈뇨 보였으나 소변 배양 검사에서 균이 배양되지 않았으며, 혈액검사와 신체 검진상에서는 특이 소견 관찰되지 않았다. 초음파 검사상 양쪽 수신증과 함께 방광 벽이 두꺼워진 소견 보였다. 배뇨 요도 방광 조영술상 방광 요관 역류는 관찰되지 않았으나 방광 벽 비후가 심했으며, 방광 용적이 줄어들고 모양이 찌그러져있었다. 진단 후 ceftriaxone을 2주간 치료하였다. 항생제 치료 일주일 후 혈뇨 소실되어 초음파 검사를 다시 시행하였고 양쪽 수신증의 호전과 방광 용적 및 모양이 정상으로 호전됨을 관찰하였다. 환아의 배뇨통 증상도 호전되어 퇴원하였다. 외래 추적 관찰 중에 역류 검사 재 시행하였으며 정상 소견 보였다. 육안적 혈뇨 및 현미경적 혈뇨는 더 이상 관찰되지 않았다. 본 저자들은 육안적 혈뇨를 보인 소아에서 양측성 수신증을 동반한 방광염 1례를 경험하여 보고하는 바이다. Gross hematuria is uncommon, and rarely associated with hydronephrosis in healthy children. We describe a 3-year-old boy who complained of gross hematuria and dysuria. He was diagnosed as cystitis with bilateral hydronephrosis, and treated with antibiotics and conservative therapy. Our experience suggests that cystitis with hydronephrosis can occur in healthy children presenting with gross hematuria.

        Emergency numbers, such as 112 and 119, are used in many countries to connect people in need with emergency services such as police, fire, and medical assistance. We describe development directions of intelligent response technology for emergency calls. The development of this technology refers to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of response systems by using advanced methods such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data analytics. We focus on a system that assists the receptionist of an emergency call. In the future, the recognition rate and decision-making accuracy of intelligent response technologies should be improved considering characteristics of public safety and emergency domain data. Although the current technology remains at the level of assisting a receptionist, a fully autonomous response technology is expected to emerge in the future.

        특허 인용 네트워크 분석

        과학 기술의 발전은 사회를 급격하게 변화시켜 왔다. 특허 자료 분석은 현대 과학 기술의 흐름을 이해하고 미래 유망기술을 예측할 수 있게 한다. 본 연구에서는 기술의 동향을 파악하고자 1985년과 2012년 사이에 미국 특허청에 등록된 특허를 중심으로 특허 인용 네트워크를 분석한다. 주요 기술군을 파악하기 위해 PageRank 알고리즘 외에 다양한 중심성 지표를 이용하고, 통계적 네트워크 모형을 통해 유사한 기술들의 군집을 찾아내고자 한다. The development of technology has changed the world drastically. Patent data analysis helps to understand modern technology trends and predict prospective future technology. In this paper, we analyze the patent citation network using the USPTO data between 1985 and 2012 to identify technology trends. We use network centrality measures that include a PageRank algorithm to find core technologies and identify groups of technology with similar properties with statistical network models.

        한국어판 아동식습관 설문지(Korean Children's Eating Behaviour Questionnaire, K-CEBQ)의 타당화 예비연구

        Objectives In this study, we obtained Korean version of CEBQ (Children's Eating Behaviour Questionnaire) and verify whether it is reliable or not. Methods Total 106 parents completed this questionnaire, and we gathered children's BMI data and examined the relationship between children's BMI and mean scale scores. Results 1. This study results confirmed the theorectical factor structure, with acceptable internal reliability and between-subscale correlations. 2. There are significant mean scale scores difference between anorexia group and control group. 3. There are significant relations between children's BMI and mean scale scores. Conclusions The results support the use of the CEBQ as a phsychometrically sound tool for assessing children's eating behaviours in Korean children.

        대전천 수계의 장기 모니터링 (2004$\sim$2007)에 의한 물리적, 화학적, 생물학적 평가 변수 분석

        본 연구에서는 대전광역시를 관통하는 도심하천인 대전천의 4개 지점을 선정하여, 2004년 8월에서 2007년 10월까지 총 8차례에 걸쳐 생물학적 건강도 평가 및 물리적 서식지 평가를 실시하였고, 환경부 수질측정 망 지점자료를 이용하여 화학적 수질특성을 분석하였다. 물리적 서식지 평가 지수(QUEI)는 평균 78.2(범위: 47$\sim$124)로 "보통상태"(Fair)로 나타났다. QUEI 값은 최상류지점(S1)에서 최대치(112, "양호상태")를 보인 반면, S3에서 SS(보통$\sim$악화상태)로 가장 불량한 서식지 상태를 보였는데, 이는 심각한 하상구조의 교란, 하상도로 및 인위적활동에 의한 것으로 사료되었다. 화학적 수질변수들은 하류로 갈수록 점차 악화되는 것으로 나타나 하천주변 도심으로부터 유입되는 유기물 오염에 의한 것으로 사료되었다. 또한 TP 및 전기전도도(Conductivity)는 집중강우로 인한 희석효과가 뚜렷이 나타난 계절적 변이가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 총 5과 24종 6909개체의 어류가 채집되었고, 피라미(Zacco platypus)가 81.6%로 우점하는 것으로 나타났다. 다변수 어류 평가모델인 생물통합지수(IBI)는 평균 17(범위: 12$\sim$30)"보통상태"(C)로 나타났으며, 하류지점으로 갈수록 생태건강성이 악화되는 양상(S4: 14, "불량상태")을 보였다. 따라서 대전광역시 도심의 상가밀집지역 및 주거지역을 관통하면서 생활하수 유입 및 각종 오염원에 의한 심각한 수질저하 현상에 의한 것으로 사료되었다. We evaluated stream health, based on integrative approaches of qualitative habitat evaluation index (QHEI), chemical water quality and the index of biological integrity (IBI) using fish assemblages in Daejeon Stream during August 2004 - October 2007. The QHEI values in this study averaged 78.2 (n=28, range: 47$\sim$124), indicating "fair" condition based on the criteria of US EPA (1993). The highest value was in the headwater site (S1) that was 112 (good), whereas the value in S3, mid and downstream was SS (fair-poor) that was the lowest owing to a disturbance on the bed and an artificial bank. Concentrations of chemical parameters such as BOD, TP and conductivity increased from the upstream to the downstream due to higher inputs of organic matters and nutrients from the urban area. Conductivity and TP showed a dilution of stream water by rainwater during summer monsoon. Analysis of fish compositions showed that total number of species was 24 and Zacco platypus was predominated (82%). The mean IBI was 17 (range: 12$\sim$30) during four years and the IBI values also decreased from S1 to S4. These results indicated that ecological health was degradated distinctly as the stream goes down through the city-center. We concluded that Daejeon Stream running through the city are influenced by chemical impact such as an influx of domestic sewage as well as the quality of habitat.

        반응 온도에 따른 CoO/Co(OH)<sub>2</sub> 나노시트의 합성

        Transition metal oxides formed by a single or heterogeneous combination of transition metal ions and oxygen ions have various types of crystal structures, which can be classified as layered structures and non-layered structures. With non-layered structures, it is difficult to realize a two-dimensional structure using conventional synthesis methods. In this study, we report the synthesis of cobalt oxide into wafer-scale nanosheets using a surfactant-assisted method. A monolayer of ionized surfactant at the water-air interface acts as a flexible template for direct cobalt oxide crystallization below. The nanosheets synthesized on the water surface can be easily transferred to an arbitrary substrate. In addition, the synthesizing morphological and crystal structures of the nanosheets were analyzed according to the reaction temperatures. The electrochemical properties of the synthesized nanosheets were also measured at each temperature. The nanosheets synthesized at 70 ℃ exhibited higher catalytic properties for the oxygen evolution reaction than those synthesized at other temperatures. This work suggests the possibility of changing material performance by adjusting synthesis temperature when synthesizing 2D nanomaterials using a wide range of functional oxides, resulting in improved physical properties.
