Periostin, a component of extracellular matrix (ECM) protein, is produced and secreted by the fibroblasts that are involved in chronic allergic inflammation diseases and various types of human cancers. Periostin protein is composed of multiple domains including four FAS1 domains which play important roles in cell adhesion and tumor metastasis by interacting with integrins. In spite of their important biological role, the structural information of periosin FAS1 domains was not revealed yet. Recently we systemically prepared various constructs of the FAS1 domains and tried to express them in E. coli. Of them, only single FAS1-II and -IV domains were highly soluble. Circular dichroism (CD) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) studies revealed that the FAS1-IV domain might be suitable for three-dimensional structure determination using NMR spectroscopy.
삼일열 말라리아 발생지역의 모기 흡혈시간 및 효소면역 방법을 이용한 항체가 측정

Plasmodium vivax is one of the most common species among the four human malaria species. Currrently, the number of malaria incidence is increasing exponentially among military personal and civilians. The distribution of the mosquitoes in Korea is considered to be at wide range especially vector mosquitoes in northern Kyonggi province where malaria occurs most often. Studies on animal biting collections were perfonned at Youncheon-gun Gunnam-myun and Paju-si Tanhyun-myun, close to the DMZ area from August to September, 2000. A total of 3 genera were collected in the biting collections. Anopheles sinensis showed peaks in biting activity from 2:00 to 3:00 a.m. in Youncheon-gun and from 1:00 to 2:00 a.m. in Paju. We examined malaria antibody by EIA method. Among 176 samples, 35(19.89%) showed positive reaction. .

Carbon nanocomposites composed of carbon nanostructures and metal nanoparticles have become one of useful materials for various applications. Here we present the preparation and antibacterial activity of CNT-Ag and GO-Ag nanocomposites. Their physical properties were characterized by TEM, XPS, and Raman measurements, revealing that size-similar and quasi-spherical Ag nanoparticles were anchored to the surface of the CNT and GO. The antibacterial activities of CNT-Ag and GO-Ag were investigated using the growth curve method and minimal inhibitory concentrations against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. The antibacterial activities of the carbon nanocomposites were slightly different against Gram-positive and Gramnegative bacteria. The proposed mechanism was discussed.

The sciatic nerve is the largest peripheral nerve in the human body, branching from the lumbosacral plexus. Normally, it emerges near the pelvis under the piriformis muscle and going down the back of the thigh to the back of the knee, branching into the common fibular nerve and tibial nerve. Various anatomists have reported variations in the branching of the sciatic nerve to the common fibular nerve and tibial nerve. These various branching patterns are considered to be one of the causes of the piriformis syndrome. Therefore, it is necessary for clinicians to establish diagnosis and treatment plans with this possibility of variations in mind when it comes to treating the piriformis syndrome. We discovered a variation case in the sciatic nerve branching. This case report would help the diagnosis and treatment of piriformis syndrome.

Plasmodium vivαx is one of the most common species among the four human malaria species. Currently, the number of malaria incidences is increasing exponentially among military personal and civilians. The distribution of the mosquitoes in Korea is considered to be a wide range especially vector mosquitoes in northem Kyonggi province where malaria occurs most often. Studies on seasonal fluctuations in the mosquito population size were carried out at Y ouncheon-gun, close to the DMZ area. Mosquitoes were collected weekly throughout the main mosquito season from the 3rd week of August to the 1st week of October. A total of 3 genera were collected by light trap, Anopheles spp. were 96.8%, Culex spp. were 19.%, Aedes spp. were 1.3%, and Anopheles spp. showed the highest population in the area. Among Anopheles spp., Anopheles sinensis was 93.1 % and the population density of A. sinensis had the highest peak time in the 4th week of August.

특성화고등학교 여학생의 이성간 갈등해결능력 향상을 위한 집단상담 프로그램 개발

The purpose of this study is verify the effect of improving ability of conflicts resolution with the opposite sex by developing and applying the group counseling program to improve ability of conflicts resolution with the opposite sex for the specialized high school female students. As a result of executing pre-test as a research object of the second grade students of S specialized high school, this study was to make progress by using after school hours for total 12 sessions twice by establishing 12 students who wanted to participate in the group counseling program with low scores of conflict resolution strategy with the opposite sex as experimental group, and 12 students with the similar average score as control group. From the result of this research above, it may be summed up as follows. First, this study has found out that the change in conflict resolution strategy with the opposite sex to improve ability of conflicts resolution with the opposite sex for the specialized high school female students had change in the control group and had significant difference. Second, this study has shown that the changes in the rational conflict resolution, positive expression of feelings, seeking outside help, avoiding, and negative emotion·behavior expression domain had change in the control group and had significant difference. Third, as a result of analyzing the group members experience report and counselor s content of observation, this study has found out that this program had positive effect. 본 연구의 목적은 특성화고등학교 여학생의 이성간 갈등해결능력 향상을 위한 집단상담 프로그램을 개발하고 효과성을 검증하는 데 있다. 연구의 대상은 서울시 J구에 위치한 특성화고등학교 2학년 여학생으로 프로그램 참여를 희망하는 학생 을 실험집단과 통제집단에 각각 12명씩 배치하였다. 집단상담 프로그램은 박인우(1995)의 상담프로그램 개발 모형을 바탕으로 총 12회기를 구안하여, 주 2회씩 실시하였다. 효과성 검증을 위한 검사 도구는 김지현(2006)이 개발한 이성관계 갈등해결전략 척도를 사용하였으며 자료는 혼합변량분석(Mixed ANOVA)으로 처리하여 통계 결과를 분석하였고, 양적 연구의 한계를 보완하기 위해 집단원의 경험보고서와 연구자의 관찰내용을 분석하여 제시하였다. 본 연구를 통해 도출된 결과는 첫째, 특성화고등 학교 여학생의 이성간 갈등해결능력 향상을 위한 집단상담 프로그램에 참여한 실험 집단이 통제집단보다 유의미한 향상을 보였다. 둘째, 이성간 갈등해결능력의 하위요 인별 분석 결과, 모든 영역에서 실험집단이 통제집단 보다 유의미한 증진을 보였다. 셋째, 집단원의 경험보고서와 연구자의 관찰 내용을 분석한 결과, 본 프로그램이 이성간 갈등해결능력 향상에 도움을 준 것으로 나타났다.
