Conventional handheld metal detectors use a single induction coil to detect the metallic parts of explosive objects, and the detector generates an acoustic signal from its magnetic response to a metallic object so that an operator can confirm the existence of mines. Though metal detectors have very useful detection mechanisms to find mines, it is easy to cause a high false alarm ratio due to the detection of non-explosive metallic items such as cans, nails and other pieces of metal, etc. Also, because of the physical characteristic of a metal detector it is hard to detect non-metallic objects such as mines made of wood or plastic. Furthermore, the operator must move it to the left and right slowly and repeatedly to attain enough sensor signals to confirm the existence of mines using only a monotonous acoustic signal. To resolve the disadvantages of handheld detectors, many new approaches have been attempted, such as an arrayed detector and a visualization algorithm based on metal/non-metal sensor. In this paper, we introduce a visualization algorithm with a metal/non-metal complex sensor, an arrayed metal/non-metal sensor and the their testing and evaluation.

The endangered species, The Red-crowned Crane and the White-naped Crane are vulnerable species to the disturbance for human beings. We examined the importance of CCZ for the cranes by comparing the crane’s density in some CCZ-released areas, which are cranes’ wintering site in Cheorwon. We also assessed influence of disturbance such as construction and greenhouses on core habitats of cranes. Our study results suggested that the construction and reclamation in the CCZ shrunk core habitat area while increasing core area of far from the construction and reclamation area. The CCZ has been set since March, 2011 and the number of greenhouse has rapidly increased after 2012. As the number and size of greenhouse in the area where designation of CCZ was cancelled increased, foraging area of cranes diminished. Although the area where designation of CCZ was cancelled seemed to have more human disturbance than CCZ, the foraging density of cranes did not decline and even that of white-naped cranes increased. This could be the influence of artificial food supply at their roosting site. In conclusion, if the area of CCZ decline continuously in the future, density of cranes would decrease.

Granular cell tumors are rare disease can be which found in virtually any body site, including the tongue, skin, subcutaneous tissue, breast, rectum and vulva. However, they are rarely seen on the scalp. We report here on a rare case of granular cell tumor on the scalp. A 55-year-old woman presented with a non-tender, firm papule on the scalp. We removed the papule with excisional biopsy. Histopathologic examination showed well-circumscribed, non-capsulated nodule that consisted of large polygonal cells with abundant eosinophilic granular cytoplasms. The tumor cells were positive for S-100 protein staining. We diagnosed this case as granular cell tumor. (Korean J Dermatol 2009;47(10):1193∼1195)

This study was carried out to suggest fundamental concepts and data ideas for biodiversity and confrontation strategy on global environmental changes by analyzing geomorphic milieu and geotop in Mt. Jeombong experimental forest. Elements of landform were classified as landform sets by scale. Scale for classification could be decide on four categories. We could classify landforms which scale zero is seven elements, scale one is twelve elements, scale two is fifteen elements, scale three is twenty nine elements. Especially mountain wetlands were classed as valley and channel types in Mt. Jeombong. Geotop by clustering methods could be four spatial units as 2, 3, 5, and 7 classes, and analyzed geodiversity as landform sets for explanation of vegetation distribution. Rate of rise of temperature was 0.031°C per year, change ratio was increased 1.25°C, and also precipitation was increased 320mm during forty year(from year 1973 to year 2012). The result of this research can be affordable to provide information for forest management of mountainous areas.
새만금 유역 주요 밭작물 작부체계 최적관리기법 시나리오별 농업비점오염원 저감

Nonpoint pollution sources from agricultural activities are a major cause of water quality impairment. A nutrient management program utilizes farm practices that maintain efficient crop production systems and control agricultural nonpoint pollution sources. The objectives of present study were to identify appropriate best management practices (BMPs) according to changes of cropping system of main upland crop for reducing AGNPs loadings and to simulate the effects of the application of the several BMPs scenarios in Saemangeum watershed. The selected BMP scenarios were: 1) to convert naked barley and hulled barley to hairy vetch or chinese milk vetch, 2) to convert red pepper to soybean crop, and 3) to combine two scenarios, converting naked barley and hulled barley to hairy vetch or chinese milk vetch + converting red pepper to soybean crop. As a result of BMPs application, the crop requirement of nitrogen and phosphorus for upland crop reduced nitrogen by 41% and phosphorus by 47% in scenario 1, whereas scenario 2 reduced nitrogen by 30% and phosphorus by 23%. Overall, scenario 3 reduced nitrogen by 72% and phosphorus by 70% in agricultural non-point pollution sources associated with chemical fertilizer and livestock manure in Saemangeum watershed.

This study is to analyze characteristics of superficial sediments for coastal area and mouth of Geum river by analyzing field description, grain size analysis, exoscopy, and old maps. Coastal landform in the lower reach of Geum river has been changed by human impact(reclamation, urbanization, port construction, farming, etc) since the early nineteen hundreds. Tidal flat sand bar were changed or disappeared by depository environmental changes, The decrease of habitats as a results is threatened with extinction of wild life. Providing basic information of landform and its environmental situation for of earth surface on study area, we analysed deposits of tidal flat and grain size. As a results, material flow system was changed by the human impact and also, speedy change of tidal current would be become threat extinction of habitats. It will be expected to use information for managements of coastal area and conservation.
진단용 X-선 장치에서 조사야조절기구의 성능개선에 대한 연구

The performance of the X-ray equipment's collimator system was improved by using ultrasound distance indicator and laser unit. The laser beams were coincided with radiation field. The distance between X-ray focus and film could be measured by using the ultrasound distance indicator attached collimator. According to the actual investigation in collimator, 30% of equipments were not satisfied recommendations on standard of illumination intensity, and 25% of them were not satisfied recommendations on limits of light/radiation field coincidence. Therefore by using laser beam coincided with light field the difference between light field and radiation filed could be decreased. By using the ultrasound distance indicator, the distance between focus and film could be measured easily, rapidly and correctly.
텔레미트리시스템을 이용한 지능화 진단 시스템 개발(Ⅰ)

본 연구에서는 CMOS 공정에 의거한 광바이오 텔레미트리 전용 IC를 제작하였다. 그리고, 제작된 생체 장착용 전용 IC는 환자의 집중 감시 시스템에 대한 적용성을 알아보았다. 이러한 실험을 행하기 위해 4 생체에 대한 집중 감시 시스템을 구축하였다. 제안된 전체 시스템은 외부 측정 유니트와 생체에 장착하는 전용 IC로 크게 나눌수 있다. 외부 장착 유니트는 생체 선택기, ID 디코더, 광 신호 송수신부 및 전체적인 동작과 상위 시스템과 인터페이스를 위한 원칩 마이크로 프로세서로 이루어져 있다. 본 시스템의 동작을 검증하기 위해 동작은 4개 중 1개가 선택되고 동일한 전송 매체인 광에 의해 생체 신호가 측정되어 지는 것이다. 이 실험에서는 전송된 생체 신호(ECG)와 외부 측정 유니트 비교로써 시스템 동작 여부를 검증하였다. In this study, we fabricated optical telemetry 1C chip using CMOS process. And we presents a manufacture of a biotelemetry system for central monitoring of patients, and proposes the principal operation of the four-subject telemetry. The proposed system is composed of four optical biotelemetry system and external unit. External unit consists of a one-chip microprocessor, a subject selector, a ID-decoder and optical signal transmitter and receiver. In order to demonstrate the principle operations of the implemented CMOS IC chip, the experiments of biotelemetry was performed by telemeter unit and external unit. Main features of this system are to select one of the 4 subjects, to enable measurement of biological signals using the same optical signal, and transmit them back to the external unit. This system is applied to measure ECG signals form two patients.
