The effect of dopant on microwave dielectric properties of (1-x)MgTiO3-xCaTiO3 ceramics, known to be used as microwave dielectric resonators for global positioning system and personal communication system, has been analyzed in terms of variations in defect concentrations and microstructural features with its addition. The addition of dopants was revealed to result in a significant change in the microstructure as well as defect concentration of the ceramics. For instance, the quality factor is proportional to sintered density of the ceramics by inversely proportional to grain size as well as vacancy concentration. Accordingly, it is believed that the dopant effect on the microwave dielectric properties should be separately analyzed with either microstructural change or the change in vacancy concentration.

Antimony doped tin oxide (ATO) thin films on glass substrate were prepared by the chemical solution deposition (CSD) method, using sol-gel solution synthesized by non-alkoxide precursors and the sol-gel route. The crystallinity and electrical properties of ATO thin films were investigated as a function of the annealing condition (both annealing environments and temperatures), and antimony (Sb) doping concentration. Electrical resistivity, carrier concentration, Hall mobility and optical transmittance of ATO thin films were improved by Sb doping up to 5~8 mol%and annealing in a low vacuum atmosphere, compared to the undoped tin oxide counterpart. 5 mol% Sb doped ATO film annealed at 550℃ in a low vacuum atmosphere showed the highest electrical properties, with electrical resistivity of about 8~10 × 10-3 Ω·cm, and optical transmittance of ~85% in the visible range. Our research demonstrates the feasibility of low-cost solution-processed transparent conductive oxide thin films, by controlling the appropriate doping concentration and annealing conditions.

A computer program for slope stability analysis is developed based on the Hardin's Lever Arm Equilibrium Method which satisfies the internal equilibrium problem. The program developed in this study can handle circular and non-circular slope failure problems. The Hardin's method is compared with other methods which do not satisfy the internal equilibrium. and seismic effect on slope stability is quantiatively analyzed through numerical examples. From the numerical study, it is found that the Hardin's Lever Arm Equilibrium Method gives highly accurate results. compared with methods which do not satisfy the internal equilibrium. It is also found that the material properties such as cohesion. angle of internal friction. and unit weight of soil, have little influence on change of the factor of safety due to seismic forces. It is general trend that the factor of safety is exponentially decreased when the seismic coefficient is increased. An equation between the factor of safety and the seismic coefficient for homogeneous circular slip surfaces is proposed through statistical analysis.

Wordplay is known to pose a challenge in translation since it combines sound and meaning. The difficulties are added when wordplay is accompanied by rhythm and images. As multimodal texts that combine wordplay, rhythm, and images to create humor are increasing in number, how to translate them poses an issue to translators. To suggest various methods for translating these texts, this study examines Shel Silverstein’s A Light in the Attic, a collection of 135 poems with witty wordplay, rhythm and illustrations. This study compares six poems in three different translations. The results demonstrate that when translating poems with such a combination, the images can be utilized for the overall direction of translation as both the verbal and the visual contribute to the meaning. Also, wordplay and rhythm should be considered together rather than separately.
$BaTiO_3$ 세라믹의 절연파괴거동에 미치는 기공의 크기와 기공율의 영향

In this study, pore-containing barium titanate ceramics were prepared with different porosities and pore sizes, in order to better understand how porosity and pore size affect electrical breakdown of barium titanate ceramics. A granulated barium titanate powder was mixed with three grades of commercial polymer microspheres up to 11wt%. The electrical breakdown test was performed at two different temperatures of 30.deg. C(below Tc) and 150.deg. C(above Tc) for samples immersed in a silicon oil bath using a 60kV de power supply. Electrical breakdown strength of pore containing barium titanate ceramics with porosity lower than 10% decreased as pore size and porosity increased. However, above the 10% porosity region, electrical breakdown strength decreased as the pore connectivity increased. From the experimental results, an optimum electrical breakdown model is proposed in an attempt to explain the effect of pores.
