Goldenhar's syndrome is a rare congenital disorder, which is characterized by epibulbar dermoid, preauricular appendages, colobomas of lids and preauricular fistula. A case of Goldenhar's syndrome (oculo-auricular dysplasia) consisting of epibulbar dermoid, preauricular appendages and vertebral malformations in a 8-year-old girl was presented. A brief review of literatures has also been included.
剔出 白鼠 Vas Deferens에서 5-Hydroxytryptamine의 筋收縮 機轉에 關한 硏究

To elucidate the mechanisms of contractile action of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) on the smooth muscle, the effects of 5-HT, norepinephrine(NE) or tyramine on rat vas deferens smooth muscle were studied in vitro comparatively, and also analyzed the effects of 5-HT on efflux of (^3H)-norepinephrine from this preparation. Results obtained from this experiments were summerized as fellows : 1 . 5-HT. NE and tyramine caused contractile response of isolated vas deferens in dose dependent manner. Fashion of muscle contraction induced by 5-HT was resembled to that of tyramine. In addition, phentolamine reduced the effects of 5-HT and tyramine at concentration lower than those necessary to antagonize NE-induced effects. 2 . After pretreatment with cyproheptadine, the effects of 5-HT(in lower doses of 5-HT)were significantly inhibited. But the effects of NE or tyramine were not affect. 3. Cocaine potentiated the effects of NE ana lower doses of 5-HT, but signiiicantly reduced the effects of tyramine and high doses of 5-HT. 4. In vas deferens preparations from reserpinized rats, the effects of NE and lower doses of 5-HT were potentiated, on the contrary the contractile effects of high doses of 5-HT were diminished, and the effect of tyramine was almost completely abolished. 5. In receptor protection experiments, when protection was performed by NE, response to NE was protected from phenoxybenzamine more effectively than that of 5-HT. While when 5-HT was used as protecting agent, response to 5-HT was protected more effectively than that of NE. 6. The effects of 5-HT on the efflux of [^3H]-norepinephrine from rat vas deferens were different according to doses of 5-HT. The efflux of radioactivity was increased by relatively high dose of S-HT but not effected by low doses of 5-HT. These results suggest that there are at least three mechanisms responsible to contractile action of 5-HT in the isolated vas defens preparation ; direct action on 5-HT receptor(possibly"D"), direct activation of α-adrenoceptor and another one is through being taken up into sympathetic nerve terminals and causing the release of NE from the storage sites.
2008년 개정 교육과정에 따른 초등영어 3, 4학년 교재의 챈트 분석 연구

The aims of elementary school English education are to provide children with the chance to learn the basic English used in daily life and to motivate them to practice English. Using chants is one of the very effective ways of teaching children the sounds and rhythm as well as daily routine expressions of English. In 2011, newly published elementary school English textbooks under the 2008 Revised National Curriculum were applied to the 3rd and 4th graders. The purpose of this study is as follows; (1) to analyze the chants in the eleven kinds of elementary school English textbooks, including teachers’ guides and e-books, and (2) to report the results of an evaluative survey conducted among 3rd and 4th grade English teachers concerning the chants in the textbooks currently being used in their schools. The results of the analysis revealed that the chants in the textbooks were generally suitable for children, but several problems were also detected in some textbooks. The reliability of this analysis was tested with the survey, the results of which suggested that teachers’ guides, in particular, needed to provide more detailed instructions for teaching chants. This study has implications for developing chants for children of higher quality.
實驗的 高血壓 白鼠에서 Norepinephrine의 精管 收縮效果의 變動

The changes of α-adrenoceptor in the experimentally induced hypertensive animals has not been dlucidated. In this experiments, contractile responses to norepinephrine(NE) of strips of vas deferens from rats with 2-kidney 1-clip(2K1C) Goldblatt hypertension were examined. 1. The 2K1C hypertensive rats developed consistent and comparable increases in blood pressure. 2. Maximum tension of strips of vas deference was significantly decreased at 1 and 2 weeks after operation, and was not changed at 3 weeks after operation, but significantly increased at 4 weeks after operation. 3. ED_50 of NE for contraction of strips of vas deferens was increased at 1 week after operation, and was not changed at 2 weeks after operation, but significantly decreased at 4 weeks after operation. 4. pA₂ values, affinity index of α-adrenoceptor for phenolamine, were slightly decreased in 1 and 2 weeks postoperation groups, and slightly increased in 3 and 4 weeks postoperation groups. These data reveals that α-adrenoceptor in vas deferens smooth muscle of experimentally induced hypertensive rat can be changed in a biphasic pattern with the time factors, which implies the involvement of different mechanisms from the other well-known reports.

Purpose: To report the clinical features of Adie’s tonic pupil. Methods: The medical records of 22 patients who had been diagnosed with Adie’s tonic pupil from February 1998 to February 2009, were retrospectively reviewed. On March 2010, a cross-sectional examination was performed in 16 patients (19 eyes) who underwent a follow-up of more than 1 year. Measurements included pupil size in room light, bright light and in darkness; near point of accommodation; presence of segmental iris palsy; light-near dissociation; denervation supersensitivity; corneal sensitivity; and deep tendon reflex (DTR). Results: Among the patients studied, 16 were women in Adie’s tonic pupils. Only 3 of patients had bilateral involvement. The mean age of onset was 38.3 years. The mean size of Adie’s tonic pupils was 2.3 mm larger than the fellow eyes. Segmental iris palsy was detected in 93.8% of the patients. Denervation supersensitivity was observed in all patients. Light-near dissociation was present in 88.2% and over 90% of the patients had decreased DTR in the biceps, triceps, knee and ankle jerk. Conclusions: This cross-sectional study showed Adie’s tonic pupil tended to become miotic and recover accommodation power over the years.

The effects of ketamine on the response of isolated rat vas deferens smooth muscle to electrical stimulation of intramural sympathetic nerve and to the exogenous norepinephrine are reported. Low concentration of ketamine(30μM) significantly potentitiated the contractile response of vas deferens smooth muscle to sympathetic nerve stimulation. But ketamine fail to modify the contractile response of vas deferens to oxymetazoline, an α-adrenoceptor agonist which has been known not to involve in amine reuptake process. Ketamine potentiated responses of vas deferens to tyramine. On the other hand, cocaine inhibited contractile action of tyramine. In the presence of verapamil, a calcium-channel blocker, ketamine-induced potentiation of the response to norepinephrine was significantly inhibited.
