        꽃대 두 대 발생이 잘되는 소형 호접란 ‘아리홍’ 육성

        In 2021, the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (RDA), Korea, introduced a new small-type Phalaenopsis cultivar named ‘Arihong’. This cultivar was developed from a cross in 2014 between the small pink-flowered P. 'Wedding' and the white flower with a pink center, P. ‘[{KT1398-1 × (KM-6)-4}]-23’. After extensive selection processes in 2018, '14104-1' was chosen from a total of 120 progenies based on phenotypic characteristics such as flower color and shape, the number of flower stalks, and leaf attitude. The stability and uniformity of the cultivar were evaluated from 2018 to 2021, culminating in its designation as 'Arihong'. 'Arihong' features small sized petiteflowers characterized by a white (RHS, WG155B) base and a captivating pink (RHS, PVG80B) center, while the lip displays a rich purple (RHS, PG78A) color. The flower stalk extends to an impressivea length of 42.1 cm, accompanied by a high occurrence of double spikes per pot. Each inflorescence boasts a remarkable production of 13.0 flowers, each measuring 5.1 cm in length and 5.7 cm in width. The leaves, exhibiting a horizontal orientation, measure 13.0 cm in length and 4.9 cm in width. Notably, this cultivar shows robust and rapid growth, resulting in the swift development of its leaves.

        Optimization Grafting Conditions and Characterization of Methyl Cellulose Grafted Polyacrylonitrile Copolymer

        Methyl cellulose-graft-polyacrylonitrile (MC-g-PAN) copolymer was synthesized by free-radical polymerizationusing cerium ammonium nitrate (CAN) as an initiator in an aqueous medium. The characteristics werefound to depend primarily on the polyacrylonitrile content rather than the graft density or the polyacrylonitrile chainlength according to reaction parameters, such as CAN concentration, acrylonitrile concentration, reaction temperature,and reaction time. The successful grafting was confirmed using various analytical tools including FTIR, 1H NMR, XPS,XRD, and TGA. The percentage of graft copolymerization increased with increasing monomer and CAN concentration. The mechanical properties of graft copolymers were measured and investigated as a function of the ratio ofgrafting.

        6-Benzylaminopurine 처리가 미니 팔레놉시스와 도리테놉시스의 개화품질에 미치는 영향

        This study was conducted to determine the concentration and application time of the cytokinin 6-benzylaminopurine (BA) for the flowering of miniature Phalaenopsis ‘Jiaho’s Pink Girl’ and Doritaenopsis ‘ Coffee. Plants were transferred to a cooling greenhouse for flower induction and sprayed (50 mL per plant) with BA at 0 (control), 100, 200, and 400 mg·L-1. The increased concentration of BA resulted in the emergence of more inflorescences in both cultivars. Plants treated with BA at 400 mg·L-1 had approximately twice as many inflorescences as the control; however, abnormal inflorescences were also increased with an increase in the concentration to 400 mg·L-1. Inflorescence length, the number of flowers, and the flower diameter of D. ‘Coffee’ decreased with an increase in BA concentration, whereas the flower number of P. ‘Jiaho’s Pink Girl’ significantly increased at high concentration. In the second experiment, the plants received a foliar spray of BA at 100 mg·L-1 at different times of transfer to a cooling greenhouse (7, 0, +7, or +14 d). In P. ‘Jiaho’s Pink Girl’, inflorescence and flower number significantly increased and visible inflorescence emerged 8 d earlier in plants treated with BA at 7 d after the transfer than in control. However, the number of flowered inflorescence of D. ‘Coffee’ was lower in plants applied with BA than in the control, except for plants applied with BA at 14 d after the transfer. Therefore, the application of BA at 100 mg·L-1 after 7 d of cooling treatment could enhance the flower quality in miniature P. ‘Jiaho’s Pink Girl’ but not in D. ‘Coffee.’ Thus, BA application could promote inflorescence emergence, but this depends on the conditions and is not effective for all cultivars. 본 연구에서는 6-benzylaminopurin(BA)처리가 미니 P. ‘Jiaho’s Pink Girl’와 D. ‘Coffe’의 개화에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 개화 품질 향상을 위한 BA적정농도와 처리시기를 구명하고자 하였다. 1차 실험은 BA적정농도를 구명하고자 농도100, 200, 400mg·L-1로 50mL씩 엽면 살포하여 처리하였다. 두 품종 모두 농도가 증가함에 따라 출현화경수가 증가하였고, 특히 400mg·L-1에서 무처리보다 2배 증가하였다. 그러나BA처리구 중 P. ‘Jiaho’s Pink Girl’ 품종은 농도 400mg·L-1, D. ‘Coffee’는 농도 200과 400mg·L-1에서 출현화경 중 개화하지 못하는 화경이 증가하였다. D. ‘Coffee’의 경우 BA농도가증가함에 따라 화경길이, 화수, 꽃크기가 감소하였으나, P. ‘Jiaho’s Pink Girl’은 BA처리시 화수가 유의적으로 증가하였다. 2차 실험은 적정 BA처리시기를 구명하고자 무처리(BA 0mg·L-1)를 제외하고 농도 100mg·L-1 를 50mL씩 저온처리일을 기준으로 4시점에 처리(-7, 0, +7, +14일)하였다. P. ‘Jiaho’s Pink Girl’은 저온 7일 후 BA처리시 출현화경수와 화수가 유의적으로 증가하였고 화경출현소요일수는 8일 촉진되었다. 반면에 D. ‘Coffee’는 출현화경수와 화수에서 처리시기에 따른 유의적인 차이는 없었고, 저온 14일 후 처리를 제외하고 BA처리 실험구에서 개화화경수가 감소하였다. 따라서, P. ‘Jiaho’s Pink Girl’ 품종의 경우 저온 7일 후 BA농도100mg·L-1 처리가 품질향상에 효과적인 반면, D. ‘Coffee’ 품종은 더 많은 화경출현이 오히려 상품성을 떨어뜨리는 결과를가져왔다. 즉 BA처리가 미니 팔레놉시스와 도리테놉시스의화경출현을 촉진시켜 화경수를 증가시키는데 기여하지만 품종과 환경에 따라 반응이 상이하여 BA사용시 부작용 여부 등을 고려할 필요가 있다.

        High Temperature Promotes Growth and Flowering in Sophrolaeliocattleya

        This study investigated the effects of temperature on vegetative growth and flowering in Sophrolaeliocattleya‘Red Doll’ and ‘Grace’. Plants were grown at constant temperatures of 8, 13, 18, or 23C for 12 weeks inenvironmentally controlled growth chambers. Photosynthetic efficiency was measured four weeks after the start of thetemperature treatment. The shoot length, leaf length, leaf width, and the number of new shoots increased in plantsfrom both cultivars that were grown at 18 and 23C, respectively; whereas the number of days to visible buds andflowering were reduced compared to plants grown at 8 and 13C. The number of flowering florets and the flowerdiameter were greater in plants grown at 18 and 23C than at 8 and 13C. High photosynthetic efficiency wasobserved in plants grown at 23C, which was measured as increased PSII quantum yield, photochemical quenching,and electron transport rate; and decreased non-photochemical quenching. These results indicate that temperatures of18-23C promote growth and stimulate earlier production of high-quality flowers in Sophrolaeliocattleya.
