The cytotoxic and antibacterial activities of Sanguisorbae officinalis L., which is blown as a major tannin source, were investigated to check the possible use of natural nutraceutics or cosmetics. The S. officinalis inhibited cancer cell growth in a dose-dependant manner. Also, the clear zone against various bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, S. epidermidis, E. coli were evident at 0.5 and 1 ㎎/dusc. When the concentrations were 500 and 1,000 ppm. growth of all aerobic bacteria increased at early stage but decrease afterward. The results indicated that S. officinalis had the anti-skin cancer activity as well as antibacterial activity against skin-related bacteria.

N/A Objectives : The study was experimented anti-plaque and whitening efficiency of the roots of Sanquisorbae sfficinalis L. Methods : We identificated novel procyanidin structure established by thiolysis, desulfurization, tannase reaction, methylation and spectroscopic analysis, The physiological activity of anti-plaque and whitening efficiency was evaluated. Results : The chemical structure was identified for procyanidin B-3 3-0-gallate containing the dimeric flavan-&oh, gallate and molecular weight was 792[M-H]- by FAB-MS negative ion method. The inhibitory effect on the glucosyltransferase and tyrosinase activity was investigated, novel compound showed complete inhibition at 0.75mM on the glucosyltransferase and tyrosinase was inhibited about 50% at 1001.1M. Conclusion : The roots of Sanguisorbae @citmlis were expected functional agents for anti-plaque and whitening.

N/A Objectives : The study was investigated decrease effiency for blood pressure of the pods of Caesalpinia sepiaria Methods : We isolated an novel compound as an angiotensin converting enzyrne(hrpertensive enzyme) inhibitor from the pods of Caedpinia sepiaria We measured inhibition rate of angiotensin converting enzyme. Results : We decided chemical structure of this new material, prodelphinidin B-3 3-0-gallate that combined with (+)-gallocatechin-3-O-gallate and (+)-gallocatechin by mechanical analysis. Effect of inhibition on the angiotensin converting enzyme was shown that B-ring, gallate compound in prodelphinidins, grown the effect of inhibition. Frodelphinidin B-3 3-0-gallate inhibited about 75.5% at 75 μmole, is shown a possibility that is used to industry. Conclusion : The pods of Chsalpinia sepiaria were expected functional agents for decreasing blood pressure at drug and food industry.

Biological activities and anticarcinogenicity of Korean Pear peel were investigated. Electron donating activity and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity of fraction Ⅱ, Ⅲ were up to 80% and 50~60% at 50ppm, respectively. Inhibitory effects on xanthine oxidase were about 80% at 50ppm, breast adenocarcinoma was about 60% at 2,000ppm, higher Ⅲ than Ⅱ. Inhibitory effect on prostate adenocarcinoma was about 23% at 500ppm. In conclusion, Korean pear peel was expected to use as a functional material.

N/A Liquid crystalline phases were formed from acylglutamate, polyglyceryl-10 myristate and glycerine mixture and they were used as a base material for preparing an O/W emulsion. When an oil phase is asses into the liquid crystalline phases, it was inserted into the dispersed liquid crystal droplets rather than stated outside the liquid crystals, which can be known by the fact that the size of liquid crystal droplets increases with the increasing oil phase content. Along with the increase in the droplet size, the complex modulus increases from 100 to 350 pascals and the loss angle decreases from 60 to 24 degrees, from which it can be known that increase in the internal phase volume results in the increase in the elastic property of oil in liquid crystalline phases (O/LC). When the water phase was lastly added into the O/LC phase, the emulsification occurred to form a O/W emulsion and the averaged particle size of the O/W emulsion chanres from 22.5nm to 538nm with the addition of water phase. The results from the droplet size measurements and stability tests under accelerated conditions such as high temperature show that the obtained O/W emulsion is very consistent with time.

한국산 감잎으로부터 분리한 폴리페놀 화합물군으로 부터 알레르기 저해효과에 관한 연구 결과를 얻고자 수동피부 아나필락시스 반응에 대한 효과 및 비만세포에서 유리되는 히스타민의 유리억제능을 관찰하였다. 수동피부 아나필락시스에서는 대조군에 비하여 모든 군에서 유의하게 격감되었으며, 3차에 걸친 항원투여 기간에 있어서도 이러한 경향은 계속되었으며, 항원 투여 후 혈중의 히스타민을 측정한 결과 거의 정상군에 가깝게 혈중 히스타민 함량을 낮추는 역할을 하였다. 이러한 결과는 알레르기 치료제들이 갖는 부작용을 최소화시킬 수 있는 새로운 치료제로서의 가능성을 보여주는 것으로 사료된다. This study was conducted to investigate antiallergy of the polyphenol fractions isolated from persimmon leaves (Diospyros kaki folum). The result of the passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) reaction of expriment on anti-allergy, the allergy remarkably decreased in polyphenol fraction Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ groups in comparison with the control group. After antigen challenge, histamine content of blood of the polyphenol groups was lowered to near the normal group.
AhR 발현을 통한 콤부차 분획물의 안티폴루션 효과 연구

본 연구에서는 설탕을 넣은 녹차나 홍차에 유익균을 첨가해 발효시킨 음료인 콤부차를 컬럼 크로마토그래피를 이용해 분획한 후, TLC를 통해 플라보노이드류인 퀘르세틴 글리코사이드(quercetin glycoside)의 유효성분 유무를 확인하고 그 분획물을 이용하여 공해로부터 피부를 보호 및 개선하는 안티폴루션 효과를 확인하였다. 인간 각질형성세포에 Kombucha-quercetin glycoside (K-QG)를 처리하여 세포 생존율을 확인한 결과, 100 ㎍/mL 농도까지 90% 이상의 생존율을 보였으며, 안티폴루션 효과를 보기 위해 benzo[e]pyrene과 미세먼지 자극에 의한 세포 생존율을 측정한 결과, 100 ㎍/mL에서 각각 68.79%, 50.68%의 개선율을 보였다. 또한, benzo[a]pyrene에 의해 활성화되는 aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) 발현을 웨스턴 블롯을 통해 확인한 결과, 대조군에 대비하여 100 ㎍/mL에서 31.08%의 억제율을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 K-QG는 벤조피렌과 미세먼지로부터 자극받은 피부를 보호, 개선해주며 안티폴루션 기능성 소재로써 가치가 있는 것으로 사료된다. In this study, Kombucha, a fermented drink by adding beneficial bacteria to green tea or black tea with sugar, was classified using column chromatography, and the presence or absence of quercetin glycoside, a type of flavonoids, was confirmed through TLC. In addition, the anti-pollution effect of protecting and improving the skin from pollution was confirmed using the fraction. Keratinocytes were treated with K-QG to confirm the cell viability, showing a survival rate of 90% or more up to a concentration of 100 ㎍/mL, and the cell viability by benzo[e]pyrene and fine dust stimulation to see the anti-pollution effect was measured. At 100 ㎍/mL, the improvement rates were about 68.79% and 50.68%, respectively. In addition, as a result of confirming the expression of AhR activated by benzo[a]pyrene through Western blot, it showed an inhibition rate of about 31.08% at 100 ㎍/mL compared to the control group. Through the results of this study, K-QG is thought to be valuable as an anti-pollution functional material, protecting and improving skin irritated from benzopyrene and fine dust.
