In vitro evaluation of a newly produced resin-based endodontic sealer

Objectives: A variety of root canal sealers were recently launched to the market. This study evaluated physicochemical properties, biocompatibility, and sealing ability of a newly launched resin-based sealer (Dia-Proseal, Diadent) compared to the existing root canal sealers (AHplus, Dentsply DeTrey and ADseal, Metabiomed). Materials and Methods: The physicochemical properties of the tested sealers including pH, solubility, dimensional change, and radiopacity were evaluated. Biocompatibility was measured using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. For microleakage test, single-rooted teeth were instrumented, and obturated with gutta-percha and one of the sealers (n = 10). After immersion in 1% methylene blue solution for 2 weeks, the specimens were split longitudinally. Then, the maximum length of staining was measured. Statistical analysis was performed by one-way analysis of variance followed by Tukey test (p = 0.05). Results: Dia-Proseal showed the highest pH value among the tested sealers (p < 0.05). ADseal showed higher dimensional change compared to AHplus and Dia-Proseal (p < 0.05). The solubility values of AHplus and Dia-Proseal were similar, whereas ADseal had the lowest solubility value (p < 0.05). The flow values of sealer in increasing order were AHplus, DiaProseal, and ADseal (p < 0.05). The radiopacity of AHplus was higher than those of ADseal and Dia-Proseal (p < 0.05). The cell viability of the tested materials was statistically similar throughout the experimental period. There were no significant differences in microleakage values among the tested samples. Conclusions: The present study indicates that Dia-Proseal has acceptable physicochemical properties, biocompatibility, and sealing ability.
폐기물 소각시 생성되는 유해 중금속물질의 증발.응축현상에 대한 연구

For selected (pure and compound) metallic species effects of saturation ratio, temperature, particle size and number density on condensation mechanisms are first reviewed. The tendencies for vaporization and condensation differ between metallic species because of the significant differences in their saturation pressures. Then particle pressure of a metal vapor species at incineration temperature is calculated by simplifying waste as a compound of methane, chlorine and small amounts of metals and assuming a thermodynamic equilibrium state. Next the condition is assessed for which supersaturation of combustion gases by the species above the critical level for homogeneous condensation may occur, when the gases contain a large number of pre-existing particles such as entrained ashes. Regardless of the presence of chlorine in the waste, the homogeneous condensation of PbO vapors may occur, depending on number density of the pre-existing particles. However, when chlorine exists in the waste, the homogeneous condensation of PbCl$_2$vapors does not occur, which is similar to the case of Cd and Hg vapors. Thus these highly volatile species, PbCl$_2$, Cd, and Hg, may emit to atmosphere as vapor phase. In general, for reducing the emission of hazardous metallic species into the atmosphere, the number density of pre-existing particles has to be increased. For fixed particle number density, the temperature drop rate must be kept in low if the temperature at which a condensable vapor species emits from a incineration system is fixed, while the temperature drop rate must be kept in high if the residence time for which a condensable species stays in the system is fixed.
COVID-19 mRNA 백신 접종 이후 악화된 건선 환자의 한의 치료 증례보고

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report one case of Korean medical treatment on a patient with psoriasis which had deteriorated since COVID-19 mRNA vaccination. Methods : A patient with psoriasis was treated with herbal medicine, acupuncture, and moxibustion. Symptoms after vaccination were considered the main criteria for treatment. PASI, DLQI, VAS, and pictures were used as evaluation tools for psoriasis. Results : After treatment, the patient showed improvements in PASI, DLQI and VAS scores. PASI changed from 16 to 0, DLQI changed from 17 to 0, and VAS changed from 8 to 0. Conclusions : The findings of this case report suggest that Korean medicine may be an effective option for treating psoriasis after COVID-19 mRNA vaccination.
Fucoidan Promotes the Reconstruction of Skin Equivalents

In this study we investigated the effects of fucoidan on the proliferation of fibroblasts and thereconstruction of a skin equivalent (SE). Fucoidan significantly stimulated the proliferation of CCD-25Sk human fibroblasts and Western blot analysis demonstrated that fucoidan markedly increasedthe expression of cyclin D1 and decreased the expression of p27. Fucoidan was used to reconstructSE. Immunohistochemical staining showed that the addition of fucoidan to dermal equivalents increasedexpression of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and p63. In addition, expression ofα6-integrin was significantly increased by fucoidan, whereas expression of β1-integrin, type 1 collagen,elastin, fibronectin did not markedly change. These results suggest that fucoidan has positive effectson epidermal reconstruction and will therefore be beneficial in the reconstruction of SE.
ERK Activation by Fucoidan Leads to Inhibition of Melanogenesis in Mel-Ab Cells

Fucoidan, a fucose-rich sulfated polysaccharide derived from brown seaweed in the class Phaeophyceae,has been widely studied for its possible health benefits. However, the potential of fucoidanas a possible treatment for hyperpigmentation is not fully understood. This study investigated theeffects of fucoidan on melanogenesis and related signaling pathways using Mel-Ab cells. Fucoidansignificantly decreased melanin content. While fucoidan treatment decreased tyrosinase activity, it didnot do so directly. Western blot analysis indicated that fucoidan downregulated microphthalmiaassociatedtranscription factor and reduced tyrosinase protein expression. Further investigation showedthat fucoidan activated the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathway, suggesting a possiblemechanism for the inhibition of melanin synthesis. Treatment with PD98059, a specific ERK inhibitor,resulted in the recovery of melanin production. Taken together, these findings suggest that fucoidaninhibits melanogenesis via ERK phosphorylation.

본 논문에서는 한국어에서 출현하는 일반적인 형태의 문장 패턴을 조사하여 제2 외국어로서 한국어를 배우는 외국인들에게 우선적으로 가르쳐야 할 한국어의 문장 패턴을 검색하는 프로그램을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 지난 10년 동안 조사 구축된 21세기 세종 계획의 결과물에 출현하는 한국어에 적합한 문장 패턴을 조사하는 프로그램을 설계하였다.
