Regarding the removal of a gastric bezoar, laparoscopic surgery was performed and it was shown that the laparoscopic approach is safe and feasible. However, the laparoscopic method has the risk of intraabdominal contamination, when the gastric bezoar is retrieved from the gastric lumen in the peritoneal cavity. We developed and applied a new procedure for the removal of the gastric bezoar using one surgical glove and two wound retractors as a fashion of intragastric single port surgery. Herein we present this new minimal invasive procedure, so named ""hybrid access surgery"" which involves the use of existing devices and overcomes the weakness of laparoscopic removal of the gastric bezoar. Our new procedure, combining the concept of intragastric and single port access, is acceptable and feasible to retrieve the gastric bezoar. In the future, this procedure may be one of the alternative procedures for retrieving gastric bezoar even when it is incarcerated in the pylorus.
Preparation of Chitosan-EGF Conjugates for sustained EGF effect

Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) has been reported that EGF accelerates self-renewal ability in epidermal cell. The use of EGF can lead to great effect in wound repair and anti-wrinkle effect. But in the body, the half-life of EGF is too short to influence the biological activity when utilized in free form. Growth Factors can be stabilized by photo-immobilization. Chitosan derivative was prepared by akalization, tosylation, azidation, and reduction of chitosan. The structure of chitosan derivative was confirmed by FT-IR, 1H NMR and elementary analysis. EGF was immobilized with chitosan derivative by using carbodiimide. In conclusion, CEC didn’t show any cytotoxicity. Chitosan derivative is suitable to immobilize of growth factor.

Reaction of Pd(η³-allyl)Me(PPh₃) with diethylamine under an atmosphere of carbon dioxide gave a dinuclear palladium complex (PPh₃)Pd(μ-η³-C₃H_5)(μ-O₂CNEt₂) in 63% yield which was characterized by IR, NMR, and elemental analysis. Similar reaction with methanol gave an allylether CH₂=CHCH₂OMe of 18% yield.

The diverse biological effects are known by binding to cell surface receptors of bio-signal molecules. Therefore, the stabilization of bio-signal molecules such as hormones and growth factors are especially important for clinical therapeutics like drug delivery system and tissue regeneration system. Many methods for immobilization of biomolecules have been examined and developed. Among the methods, light-induced immobilization techniques have been investigated and used up to recently. these immobilization techniques gave many advantages that are temperature and pH independent. So, I have been studying various natural polymer with the photo immobilization techniques to stabilize protein drugs for medical application. in this seminar, I will address about preparation methods of photoreactive natural polymer(chitosan, gelatin, hyaluronic acid and so on.) derivatives and their properties.

Chitin has a hard crystalline structure originated from intermolecular force with aminoacetyl group. So it is insoluble in the general organic solvent and very limited to choose the proper organic solvents. Chitosan, deactylated product of chitin, is made by heating of chitin in conc. alkalline solution. It is, however, precipitated in neutral or alkalline region. It has been studied the water soluble chitin and chitosan for application in the fields of food, cosmetic, agriculture and medicine.
