        입원환자의 재선택 의향과 결정요인

        This study aims to measure in-patients' willingness to choose the same hospital, and to define the related factors. The willingness was measured by the fact whether in-patients would return to the same hospital for their future hospitalization and can be said as the essence of ascertaining patients' satisfaction. Data was collected from 236 patients hospitalized in two hospitals selected according to its superiority, one being superior in medical technique, the other being superior in facility and equipment. To enhance the comparability between the two hospitals, the department and the diagnosis were matched, and structured questionnaires were self-fill-up. The main findings are as follows. Hospitals were analyzed by their superiority : medical services, facility and equipment. In case of hospitals with superior medical services, the willingness was proportional to positive doctor-patient relationship, to satisfaction with the medical level, and to the acknowledgement of utility in cure. In case of hospitals with superior facility and equipment, the willingness was proportional to the satisfactory state of overall facility. Two types of hospitals were combined and analyzed. The willingness for choosing hospitals with superior medical services was stronger than that for choosing the other hospitals. The satisfaction with overall facility, satisfaction with medical level, acknowledgement of utility in cure, positive doctor-patient relationship, and better consultation produced higher willingness to choose the same hospital. The willingness for the option shows to what degree the hospital suffices patients' expectation. Patients' understanding views were obviously influential. The satisfaction level for medical aspect was more influential than the level for non-medical aspect.

        Effect of Starvation on Kidney Melano-macrophage Centre in Sub-adult Rock Bream, Oplegnathus fasciatus (Temminck and Schlegel)

        We conducted a histological analysis to investigate the influence of nutritional changes on melano-macrophages (MMs) accumulation in the kidney of sub-adult rock bream (Oplegnathus fasciatus). Four experimental groups were established (initial control, control, fed and starved), and fed commercial feed amounting to 1-3% of their body weight for 2 weeks prior to initiation of experiments. Kidney MMs with dark brown pigment were randomly observed in the kidneys of starved fish, increasing rapidly after 4 weeks, while deposition levels remained low throughout the experiment in the control and fed groups. These results suggest that catabolic tissue breakdown is a major factor contributing to the formation of pigments within MMs. Results also suggest that the degree of MMs deposition in the kidney can be used as alternative indicators in identifying starvation in wild and cultured rock bream.

        Maintained MPF Level after Oocyte Vitrification Improves Embryonic Development after IVF, but not after Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer

        Levels of maturation-promoting factor (MPF) in oocytes decline after vitrification, and this decline has been suggested as one of the main causes of low developmental competence resulting from cryoinjury. Here, we evaluated MPF activity in vitrified mouse eggs following treatment with caffeine, a known stimulator of MPF activity, and/or the proteasome inhibitor MG132. Collected MII oocytes were vitrified and divided into four groups: untreated, 10 mM caffeine (CA), 10 M MG132 (MG), and 10 mM caffeine +10 M MG132 (CA+MG). After warming, the MPF activity of oocytes and their blastocyst formation and implantation rates in the CA, MG, and CA+MG groups were much higher than those in the untreated group. However, the cell numbers in blastocysts did not differ among groups. Analysis of the effective-ness of caffeine and MG132 for improving somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) technology using cryopreserved eggs showed that supplementation did not improve the blastocyst formation rate of cloned mouse eggs. These results suggest that maintaining MPF activity after cryopreservation may have a positive effect on further embryonic development, but is unable to fully overcome cryoinjury. Thus, intrinsic factors governing the developmental potential that diminish during oocyte cryopreservation should be explored.

        전송다이버시티 는 일반적으로 송신기에서 하나이상의 안테나를 필요로 한다. 그러나 많은 무선기기들은 크기나 하드웨어의 복잡도로 인해 다수의 안테나를 사용하는데 많은 제약을 가지고 있었다. 최근 들어 해외에서 활발히 연구되고 있는 협력통신이라는 전송방식은 단일 안테나를 사용하는 다수의 사용자가 있는 환경에서, 사용자간의 안테나를 공유하여 가상의 다중 안테나를 가진 송, 수신기의 성능을 제공하여 높은 전송 다이버시티를 획득 할 수 있는 기술이다. 이와 관련된 연구로 저전력 무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 순환부호를 이용한 부호화 협력통신을 소개한다.

        Expression of Egr3 in mouse gonads and its localization and function in oocytes

        Objective: The early growth response (Egr) family consists of four members (Egr1, Egr2, Egr3, and Egr4) that are zinc finger transcription factors. Among them, Egr3 is involved in transcriptional regulation of target genes during muscle spindle formation and neurite outgrowth. We previously showed that the immunoreactive Egr3 is localized on oocyte spindle and accumulate near the microtubule organizing center during meiosis I in mice. Egr3 was also shown to be localized on spermatocytes. We herein investigated if Egr3 is expressed in mouse gonads and if Egr3 blockade results in any defect in oocyte maturation. Methods: Expression of Egr3 in mouse gonads was examined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Full-length Egr3 and truncated Egr3 (ΔEgr3) complementary RNAs (cRNAs) with Xpress tag at N-terminus and DsRed2 at C-terminus, and small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting Egr3 were microinjected into mouse oocytes at germinal vesicle stage. Localization of microinjected Egr3 was examined by confocal live imaging and immunofluorescence staining. Results: Egr3 mRNA was detected in mouse ovaries and testes from 1 to 4 week-old mice. An uncharacterized longer transcript containing 5’untranslated region was also detected in 3 and 4 week-old gonads. Microinjected Xpress-Egr3-DsRed2 or Xpress-ΔEgr3-DsRed2 localized to nuclei and chromosomes during meiotic progression. Microinjection of these cRNAs or Egr3 siRNA in oocytes did not affect meiotic maturation. Immunofluorescence staining of Egr3 in Xpress-ΔEgr3-DsRed2-injected oocytes showed a positive signal only on meiotic spindle, suggesting that this antibody does not detect endogenous or exogenous Egr3 in mouse oocytes. Conclusion: The results show that Egr3 localizes to chromosomes during meiotic progression and that certain antibodies may not faithfully represent localization of target proteins in oocytes. Egr3 seems to be dispensable during oocyte maturation in mice.

        Early Growth and Development of Eye in Dotted Gizzard Shad, Konosirus punctatus

        전어, Konosirus punctatus의 부화후부터 부화후 30일까지의 전장, 두장, 두고, 안경, 망막 두께 및 렌즈직경의 성장은 비례직선적이었다. 전장에 대한 두장 및 두고의 상대 성장, 두장에 대한 안경 및 렌즈직경의 상대 성장, 두고에 대한 안경 및 렌즈직경의 상대 성장, 그리고 망막 두께에 대한 안경, 렌즈직경, 두장, 두고의 상대 성장은 높은 상관계수를 보이는 상대성 장식을 보였다. 눈은 부화 후 9일에 완전히 형성되었으며 렌즈, 신경섬유 The total length, head length, head height, eye diameter, retina thickness, and lens diameter of the dotted gizzard shad, Konosirus punctatus, showed positive allometric relationships between hatching and 30 days post-hatching (dph). The increase in total length relative to head length and head height, head length growth relative to eye and lens diameter, head height growth relative to eye diameter and lens diameter, and thickness of the retina relative to eye diameter, lens diameter, head length, and head height were showed allometric relationships. The eyes were formed completely at 9 dph. At this age, the eye has a lens, an optic nerve fiber layer, a ganglion cell layer, an inner plexiform layer, an inner nuclear layer, an outer plexiform layer, an outer nuclear layer, an outer limiting membrane, a rod and cone layer, and an epithelial layer. The essential demands that must be met by the retina in this species pertain to light sensitivity and spatial resolution.

        Morphometric Traits and Condition Indices in Artificially Induced Hybrids and Their Parental Species, Haliotis gigantean Gmelin (♀) and H. discusdiscus Reeve (♂)

        Morphometric traits, percent shell weight, percent cavity volume and condition index of 4-year-old induced hybrid abalone from female Haliotis gigantea Gmelin and male Haliotis discus discus Reeve were compared to those of the parental species. Apex height/shell height of the induced hybrid abalone was in between the average height of the parental species. The induced hybrid abalone shared three traits with the paternal species and two with the maternal species. After 4 years of growth, the condition index of the induced hybrids weresignificantly higher than that of either parental species ( P< 0.05). Generally, induced hybrid abalone displayed an external morphology that was intermediate between the representative of both parental species. Haliotis gigantea and the induced hybrids had four respiratory pores, while H. discus discus had five.
