Objectives : The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate the effects of Woohwangcheongsim-won on neuronal death of hypoxic E18 cortical neuroblast. Methods : To evaluate the effect of Woohwangcheongsim-won on neuronal death caused by hypoxia, the survival rate of E18 cortical neuroblast was measured with MTT assay and the changes of several synaptic proteins and enzymes were investigated with the immunoblot assays. Results : The E18 cortical neuroblasts were added 50, 100, 500, 1,000, and $5,000{\mu}g/ml$ Woohwangcheongsim-won. They showed neurotoxicity, when the concentration of Woohwangcheongsim-won was above $1,000{\mu}g/ml$. The E18 cortical neuroblasts, which were added 50, 100, and $500{\mu}g/ml$ Woohwangcheongsim-won, were exposed 98% $N_2/5%\;CO_2$ for 3 hours to induce hypoxia, 3 days later, the survival rate of $50{\mu}g/ml$ Woohwangcheongsim-won was 141.5% when compared to the control group. On the immuneblot assays, the expressions of ${\alpha}$CaMKII, NR2A, NR28, PDE2, PSD-95, and eEF-$1{\alpha}$ were increased in normoxia, but those of NR2A, NR2B were decreased in hypoxia when compared to the control group. Conclusions : The data shows that the effects of Woohwangcheongsim-won on neuronal death of hypoxic E18 cortical neuroblast is a significant result.
농촌지역 초중고 학생들의 김치 섭취실태 및 기호도 분석

The purpose of this research is to examine the awareness and preference for a variety of Kimchi and Kimchi intake patterns among the students living in Chungbuk province. Four hundred samples, consisting of elementary, middle, and high school students, were surveyed; and a total of 366 usable, completed copies of the questionnaire were used for the research. The collected data were statistically analyzed using SPSS 10.0. The results of the analysis were as follows: First, Kimchi was considered traditional (24.3%), nutritious (20.5%), fermented (19.2%), and healthy (16.1%). Second, the main reason Kimchi was preferred was its hot taste (25.4%), chewy texture (17.4%), and sour taste (14.0%). The students preferred their Kimchi a little hot, moderately salty, and properly fermented with a moderate amount of seasoning and did not care much about any particular parts of Kimchi. Third, 75.4% of the students ate Kimchi more than twice a day, and 78.0% of the students consumed more than 3 pieces(2.5×3.0cm) of Kimchi per meal. Fourth, elementary students wanted the school foodservice to develop bite-sized Kimchi while middle school students wanted to eat their favorite parts of Kimchi without the fishy smell. High school students wanted to eat cool and fresh Kimchi. Finally, the students wanted Kimchi to contain the following fruit and vegetables: pears (48.9%), apples (34.2%), and pineapples (30.0%), young radishes (44.9%), turnips (37.5%), and sesame leaves (34.9%). This study concludes that it is necessary to educate young students about traditional Korean food culture, serve them various types of Kimchi, change the service style, and develop new Kimchi recipes to increase Kimchi intake in school foodservices.

Collecting baseline information on how laboratories perform gastrointestinal motility testing is a reasonable first step towards establishing intra- and inter-laboratory standardization and quality control standards. A nationwide survey of laboratories where gastrointestinal motility tests are performed was carried out. A questionnaire, composed of 17 questions covering the main aspects of gastrointestinal motility tests, was distributed to 127 teaching hospitals from August 2008 to April 2009. Sixty-five hospitals responded. Of these, 46 hospitals performed gastrointestinal motility testing and the relevant staff completed the questionnaires. The number of laboratories per million persons was 0.94 with an even distribution according to administrative districts. In 2007, the number of laboratories performing gastrointestinal motility testing was 41 for esophageal manometry, 39 for esophageal pH monitoring, 38 for anorectal manometry, 30 for biofeedback therapy, 12 for electrogastrography, seven for gastroduodenal manometry, and three for breath hydrogen test. In total, 56 nurses and 12 technicians performed the tests. Registration of the gastrointestinal motility laboratories is needed for the standardization of the gastrointestinal motility tests with acceptable quality controls in Korea. Fixed drug eruption is a pattern of a drug-induced cutaneous reaction. It is characterized by skin erythematous plaques that recur at the same site each time the drug is administered. Now, we report the case of a 26-year-old woman who presented with 2 ill-defined erythematous patches on her back with itching sensation. The patient had a history of ciprofloxacin medication. The patch test with suspected drugs showed negative reactions, but intradermal tests were positive reactions. The patient was diagnosed with fixed-drug eruption due to ciprofloxacin. 한국인 여성에서 인터루킨-1 수용체 안타고니스트 유전자 다형성과 비만 및체질과의 관련성 연구

목적: Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist(IL-1ra)의 혈장 농도는 비만에서 증가되며 강한 유전적 통제를 받는다. 이에 비만과 IL-1ra 유전자 다형성 및 사상체질과의 관계를 연구하고자 하였다. 방법: 67명의 정상군, 133명의 과체중군, 61명의 비만군 대상자에서 IL-1ra 유전자의 intron 2에서의 penta-allelic 86-bp tandem repeat 빈도를 조사하였으며, IL-1ra의 유전자형은 PCR을 통해 분석하였다. 체지방량과 체지방률은 체성분분석기를 이용하였으며, 사상체질 분석은 QSCC II 프로그램을 이용하였다. 결과: 정상체중군에 비하여 과체중과 비만군에서 A1A2 carrier의 빈도가 높았으며, 대립유전자 2형 보유자의 빈도가 정상체중군에 비하여 과체중과 비만군에서 2배정도 높게 나타났으나 통계학적인 유의성은 없었다. 태음인의 빈도는 정상체중군에 비하여 과체중과 비만군에서 높게 나타났으며, 특히 IL-1ra A2- carrier인 과체중과 비만군에서의 태음인의 빈도가 높게 나타났다.결론: IL-1ra 유전자 다형성은 BMI에 대하여 중요한 영향을 주는 인자는 아닌 것으로 보이나, 본 연구는 비만과 비만 후보유전자로서의 IL-1ra 유전자의 다형성 및 사상체질과의 관계를 규명하려고 하였다는 데에서 그 의의가 있다.

Panniculitis is a rare cutaneous finding in dermatomyositis (DM), presenting as tender subcutaneous nodules. Because panniculitis may precede other symptoms of DM, and its complications, including pain, lipoatrophy and carcinosis, might be severe and irreversible, early diagnosis and treatment of panniculitis is important. We herein describe a case of dermatomyositis first presenting as panniculitis in a 45-year old man. (Korean J Dermatol 2013;51(4):284∼287).
