This study was performed to investigate the wound healing effects of Allium cepa L. on Staphylococcus intermedius contaminated wound. 4 full-thickness skin wounds (2 cm × 2 cm) were made in the back and Staphylococcus intermedius was inoculated in seven dogs. In each dog, the wounds were treated with onion extract (experimental group) and normal saline (control group), respectively. The wound contraction rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group during the experimental period. The occupation rate showed that the wounds of the experimental groups contracted more vigorously than that of the control group in the early period of wound healing. The mean value of tensile strength on the 22 day after wounding was 4,741 ± 848 g/cm2 in the experimental group and 2,400 ± 397 g/cm2 in the control group. The number of S. intermedius in the experimental groups was decreased more rapidly than that of the control group. These results suggest that application of activated onion extract in like full-thickness skin wounds promote wound healing.
Investigation of Theileria sp. from Ticks and Roe Deer (Capreolus pygargus) in Jeju Island

Siberian Roe deer which inhabits Jeju Island is unique native species. Most of all the roe deer infect alot of ticks, which can affect its population directly and can act as a vector to spread vector-borne diseases. The purposesof this study were to identify the ticks and detect the piroplamsosis on the roe deer in Jeju island. We collected ticksand blood samples in 23 roe deer rescued and treated at the Jeju Wildlife Rescue Center. As a result, we identifiedthe one species of ticks, Haemaphysalis longicornis in roe deer and detected the closely related to Theileria luwenshuniin all blood samples (100%) and 8 pooled ticks (34.8%). These results indicate that there may be a high prevalenceparticularly of T. luwenshuni infection in Jeju wild roe deer and H. longicornis is a major vector of these diseases. It suggested that Jeju roe deer may act as reservoirs for these zoonotic pathogens.
우수한 비주기 자기상관 특성을 갖는 새로운 다중 위상 부호열

In this paper, we propose the new polyphase sequence with the best nonperiodic autocorrelation property in the viewpoint of the merit factors, which are important criteria for a nonperiodic autocorrelation property. We propose the general implementation of a polyphase sequence generator over an integer residue ring by using a linear feedback shift register(LFSR), in addition, we analyze the linear complexities of polyphase sequences based on the proposed implementation method. 본 논문에서는 비주기 자기상관 특성의 중요한 지표가 되는 merit factor의 관점에서 가장 우수한 비주기 자기상관 특성을 갖는 새로운 다중 위상 부호열(polyphase sequence)을 제안한다. 또한, 정수 환(integer residue ring)에서 LFSR(Linear Feedback Shift Register)을 이용한 일반적인 다중 위상 부호열 생성기를 제안하고 제안된 생성기에 기반한 다중 위상 부호열의 선형 복잡도를 분석한다.

Clinostomum (C.) complanatum is one of the trematode helminthes in birds and causes incidental infectionin human. A black-tailed gull (Larus crassirostris) was referred to the Jeju wildlife rescue center. Because of the deathof bird after two weeks treatment, necropsy was performed to the bird. Grossly, many living worms adhered to theoral mucosa including pharynx and esophagus were observed. The worms removed were identified as C. complanatumafter morphological observation. The linguiform adult worms were 5.19 ± 0.48 mm long and 1.80 ± 0.18 mm wide. Histopathologically, severe necrosis and surrounding inflammation were observed at the infection sites of adult wormin pharynx and esophagus. This is the first report for C. complanatum infection in wild black-tailed gull in Korea.
