황련해독탕(黃連解毒湯)이 가토(家兎)의 혈관긴장성조절(血管緊張性調節)에 미치는 영향(影響)

Objective : The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of HwangRyunHaeDok-Tang and combinations of constituent herbs on the arterial contraction. Methods : In order to investigate the effects Scutellariae Radix. Coptidis Rhizoma, Phellodendri Cortex and Gardeniae Fructus, in which one of them, two of them, and all of them, were used to exam. Results : The results were summarized as follows; 1. HwangRyunHaeDok-Tang significantly inhibited the contraction of artery induced by Norepinephrine(NE). However the atonic effect was slightly blunted when the vascular endothelial cell was removed. No significant change in the atonic effect of HwangRyunHaeDok-Tang was found when $_L-NNA$ was used as a preliminary treatment. These results indicate that the vascular atonic effect by HwangRyunHaeDok-Tang is slightly dependent on the endothelial cell, and that the HwangRyunHaeDok-Tang works directly to the vascular smooth muscle in creating the vascular atonic effect. 2. The pretreatment of HwangRyunHaeDok-Tang extract significantly inhibited the contractile response to additive application of $Ca^{2+}$ in the strips which were contracted by NE in $Ca^{2+}$-free solution. 3. HwangRyunHaeDok-Tang extract increased the contraction of arterial smooth muscle induced by KCl. Therefore, it can be concluded that HwangRyunHaeDok-Tang may block the NE-receptor or receptor-operated $Ca^{2+}$ channel. 4. It was determined that Scutellariae Radix, Coptidis Rhizoma and Phellodendri Cortex among the ingredients of HwangRyunHaeDok-Tang have a vascular atonic effect. In addition, those ingredients plays a role in strengthening the atonic effect by working with other herbal medicines. Gardeniae Fructus causes the blood vessel to contract. but it does not influence the atonic effects of other herbal medicines. However Gardeniae Fructus tends to inhibit the vascular atonic effect of Phellodendri Cortex. Conclusion : Based on the above results, it can be said that HwangRyunHaeDok-Tang can be applied to cure hypertension considering those three herbs have significant effects of relaxation.
사물탕(四物湯) 및 구성(構成) 약물(藥物)이 가토(家兎)의 수축혈관(收縮血管)에 미치는 영향(影響)

Objectives : To analyze the effects of Samul-Tang and combinations of constituent herbs on arterial contraction. Method : In order to investigate the effects, Angelicae gigantis Radix, Cnidii Rhizoma, Rehmanniae Radix, Paeoniae Radix, in which one of them, three of them, and all of them, were used to exam. Results : Samul-Tang significantly inhibited the contraction of artery induced by PE(phenylephrine), accordingly as the concentration of Samul-Tang increased and inhibited in both with intact and removed endothelium. Among the constituent herbs of Samul-Tang, Paeoniae Radix and Paeoniae Radix-Cnidii Rhizoma combination inhibited the PE-induced contraction of artery the most. Conclusions : Samul-Tang and constituent herbs of Samul-Tang inhibit the contraction of artery.
뇌전산화단층촬영(CT)상 확진된 120예의 뇌졸중환자에 대한 임상적 고찰

Clinical Observation was made on 120 Cases of CVA that were confirmed through brain CT of Oriental Medical hospital of Se-Myung University from July in 1997 to June in 1998. 1. The CVA cases were classified into the following kinds : cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH), and the greatest in number among them were the cases of cerebral infarction. 2. The most cases were 50 of age in all cases, in cerebral infarction were over 70 of age. There is no significant difference in the frequency of strokes between the male and female. the ratio was 1.07 : 1. 3. The frequency of strokes seems to have no relation to month and season. 4. The course of entering hospital, most patients visited this hospital directly(not through any other hospital) within 24hours. 5. The first attack was noted in 80.8%, the recurrance attack in 19.2% and the cerebral infarction had high recurrance ratio compared with cerebral hemorrhage. 6. The average duration of hospitalization was 25.2 days. 7. The most ordinary preceding disease was hypertension. 8. The common symptoms were motor disturbance and dysphasia. 9. The most frequent location of the lesion in cerebral infarction was parietal lobe, in cerebral hemorrhage was basal ganglia. 10. According to electrocardiography findings, abnormality was noted in cerebral infarction more than cerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage. 11. The hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia were found more frequently in cerebral infarction than cerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage. 12. The average time to start physical theraphy was 7.76 days after admission. 13. The most common complications were pneumonia and bed sore.
청상사화탕(淸上瀉火湯)이 토끼의 수축혈관에 미치는 영향

This study was undertaken to define the effect of ChungSangSaWhaTang on the norepinephrine-induced arterial contraction and the mechanism of ChungSangSaWhaTang-induced relaxation. In order to investigate the effect of ChungSangSaWhaTang on contracted rabbit carotid arterial strips, transverse strips with intact or damaged endothelium were used for the experiment using organ bath. To analyze the mechanism of ChungSangSaWhaTang-induced relaxation, ChungSangSaWhaTang extract infused into contracted arterial strips induced by norepinephrine after treatment of indomethacin, $N_{\omega}$-nitro-L-arginine, or tetraethylammonium chloride. ChungSangSaWhaTang relax arterial strip with endothelium contracted by norepinephrine, but in the strips without endothelium, ChungSangSaWhaTang-induced relaxation was significantly inhibited. The endothelium-dependent relaxation induced by ChungSangSaWhaTang was decreased by the pretreatment of $N_{\omega}$-nitro-L-arginine, but it was not observed in the strips pretreated with indomethacin or tetraethylammonium chloride. We suggest that ChungSangSaWhaTang may inhibit agonist-induced contraction through the formation of nitric oxide in the vascular endothelial cells.

As the use of anticonvulsant increases in neurologic field, more studies are needed to reveal various harmful effects of this medication. Especially as for carbamazepine, thrombocytopenia may appear during administration of the medication, regardless of dosage. We, the authors, report that we diagnosed the patient as Bigiheo and Eumheohyeolheo, who was suffering from insomnia, diarrhea, papura, and serious thrombocytopenia. We presumed that the symptoms could be induced by carbamazepine, and used Samulgwibitanggamibang to treat her and obtained positive results.

Object : This study was undertaken to define the mechanism of GwakHyangJungGiSan-induced relaxation in rabbit common carotid artery contracted by agonists. Method : In order to investigate the effect of GwakHyangJungGiSan on rabbit's contracted vascular ring detached from common carotid artery, vascular ring intact or damaged endothelium was used for the experiment using organ bath. To analyze the mechanism of GwakHyangJungGiSan-induced relaxation, GwakHyangJungGiSan extract was infused into contracted vascular ring which had been pretreated by pretreatment of indomethacin(IM), tetraethylammonium chloride(TEA), $N{\omega}-nitro-L-arginine(L-NNA)$. Result : GwakHyangJungGiSan blocks an inflow of $Ca^{2+}$ and relaxes vascular ring by the action of Nitric oxide from endothelium. Consequently when GwakHyangJungGiSan is prescribed, a rise in blood pressure by the resistance of peripheral vessel may be controlled to some extent and so it is anticipated that hypertension, a disorder of blood flow from the vascular contraction and vascular disease will be treated well.
용담사간탕(龍膽瀉肝湯)을 이용한 대상포진(帶狀疱疹)의 급성기(急性期) 통증(痛症)에 대한 치험(治驗) 1례(例)

Herpes zoster is a viral disease characterized by unilateral radicular pain and vesicular eruptions that are generally limited to the dermatome innervated by single spinal or cranial sensory ganglion. The disease causes severe pain and in particular, put elderly patients in great risks and further it develops postherpetic nenralgia. Nowadays western medicine use antiviral durg(ex: acyclovir), analgesics, nerve block and etc for treatment of herpes zoster and pain control, but the effect is not much satisfactory. A 73-year-old patient, admitted to our hospital because of severe migrain. Two days later, her illness was diagnosed as herpes zoster so we administrated Yongdamsagan-tang. After the six-day of treatment, all symptoms improved, especially headache was cleared since the four day long administration of Yongdamsagan-tang.
連翹敗毒散이 사람 기관지 상피세포의 TARC 분비에 미치는 효과

Chemokines are important for the recruitment of leukocytes to sites of infection, which is essential in host defense. The thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC) is a CC chemokine which potentially plays a role via a paracrine mechanism in the development of allergic respiratory diseases. Objectives : The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of Youn-Gyo-Pae-Doc-San on the secretion of TARC of human bronchial epithelial cell Methods : Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was performed to detect the secretion of TARC. The cytotoxicity was measured by MTT assay. Results : Youn-Gyo-Pae-Doc-San significantly inhibited the secretion of TARC with a dose -dependant manner. The effective dosage did not have the cytotoxicity on human bronchial epithelial cell. Conclusions : Results of our study show that Youn-Gyo-Pae-Doc-San would play an important role in modulation of TARC in human bronchial epithelial cells.
