Maxillary sinus retention cysts are probably common findings on PNS series. Many patients remain asymptomatic in the presence of these lesions, but a variety of local and systemic symptoms have been associated with them. A patient presented with symptoms of chronic rhinosinusitis had a finding of both maxillary sinus retention cysts on PNS series. He has taken the Gal-gen-tang and treated by acupunture & infra-red. After about 4 months' treatment, his symptoms resolved and PNS series were normal. In conclusion, Maxillary sinus retention cysts may become clinically important when they occur in the setting of symptoms compatible with chronic rhinosinusitis, or when the diagnosis is in doubt.

저출력 레이저 요법 및 침 치료를 이용한 반흔성 탈모 및 원형탈모증에 대한 치험 1례

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of low level laser therapy and acupuncture on hair loss. Methods : The patient with alopecia caused by bed sore and alopecia areata was treated with 29 times of laser therapy, acupuncture and took herbal medicine during about 3 months. The treatment effect was evaluated by standardized photography. Results : Hair loss had shown a marked improvement. Entire scalp had been replaced with new hairs. Conclusions : LLLT(low level laser therapy) is effective method for treating alopecia. It can shorten the length of treatment of alopecia.

가감통청산(加減通淸散)으로 치료한 만성 두드러기 치험 1례

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report 1 clinical experience of korean medicine treatment on chronic urticaria identified as "Wind Heat" pattern. Methods : We treated a 63-year old woman patient with Gagamtongcheong-san, acupuncture and pharmacopuncture. The improvement of patients evaluated using CU-Q2oL, UAS, and photography. Results : CU-Q2oL score decreased from 95 to 18, UAS decreased from 6 to 0. Conclusions : The complex treatments of korean medicine and was effective to improve of chronic urticaria. It is necessary to have more observations and case reports.

한 양방 동시 치료를 통해 호전된 베게너 육아종증 1예

Objectives : The aim of this study is to report the improved case of Wegener's granulomatosis with Oriental-Western Medicine Treatment. Methods : The patient was treated by herbal medicine(Manhyeongja-san, Banhabaekchulchenma-tang, Jaeumgeonbi-tang), acupuncture and moxa constantly. And she was also treated by glucocorticoids treatment and immunosuppressive therapy provided by department of Rheumatology. The otorhinolaryngologic and the ophthalmologic Western medication treatment were also supplied. The information was collected retrospectively. Results & Conclusions : Chronic otitis media of both ear and hearing loss were improved by Oriental-Western medicine treatment. Ophthalmagia was controlled as less. Dizziness and facial palsy were also disappeared. Oriental-Western medicine treatment may be effective on Wegener's granulomatosis patient when pain controling and fast improvement of symptoms are needed.

벨마비 치료 중 건측에 중이염이 동반된 양측성 안면마비 치험 1례

Objectives : To report the patient bilateral facial palsy, because it is unusual. Methods : One patient with bilateral facial palsy was selected. Herbal medicine(Cheunggansoyosan, bubidongyeom-2) was administered and acupuncture was applied for twice a day in 73 days. Facial function was evaluated by House-Brackmann scale, Yanagihara's scale and Standardization of muscular paralysis. Results : Cheunggansoyosan, bubidongyeom-2 and acupuncture treatment improved facial function after 73 days of treatment. Adverse effects were not reported. Conclusions : This study shows that the Korean medicine treatment was effective in improving bilateral facial palsy.

결절성 양진 치험 1례

저자들은 오랜 기간 경구 스테로이드제 및 항히스타민제와 국소 스테로이드제 사용에도 불구하고 호전이 되지 않은 극심한 소양감을 동반한 결절성 양진 환아에게 한의학적 변증치료와 식이요법을 통하여 유의한 치료효과를 보았다. 하지만 병행한 식이요법이 치료호전에 어떤 영향을 주었는지 확실히 밝히기 어렵고 결정성 양진의 성인형 및 다른 변증치료에 대한 임상례가 없어 향 후 이에 대한 더 많은 연구가 필요하다고 생각된다.

Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada(VKH) Disease is a bilateral granulomatous uveitis often associated with exudative retinal detachment and extraocular manifestations, such as pleocytosis in the cerebrospinal fluid and, in some case, vitiligo, poliosis, alopecia, and dysacusis. There has been no previous report for the disease in the field of Korean traditional medicine. The case was treated with conventional medical intervention and Korean traditional treatment including acupuncture and herbal medicine. The case was discharged with improvement in fundus photography and optical coherence tomography. The authors report the case to suggest that Korean medical approach combined with conventional treatment can be helpful for the disease.

국내 한의학계에 보고된 흑색종 관련 실험적 연구들의 비교 고찰

Objective : Melanoma is a very critical and devastating disease. Although many people have depended on surgical operation in melanoma treatment, they have placed importance on non-invasive methods constantly. The journal of acupuncture & moxibustion society ranked the highest(30.8%). 2 and 4 authors ranked the highest(26.9%) in number of authors. T-test ranked the highest(58.1%) in statistics methods. P.O. med indicated in 11 articles and Pharmacopuncture in 15 articles. B16 murine melanoma cell was indicated in 25 articles by cancer-induced methods. In measurement, T cell activity was indicated in 14 articles, NK activity in 4 articles, IL-2 in 6 articles, apoptosis in 1 article, lung metastasis in 14 articles.Conclusion : Considering overall results, it is necessary to diversify cancer-induced methods and measurement methods in experimental melanoma research.

직업성 접촉 피부염 치험 2례

Objectives : The purpose of this case report is to know the effect of Korean medical treatments on occupational contact dermatitis. Methods : We reported 2 cases who visited Allergy and Derma-Cosmetic Clinic of Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong. They were diagnosed with occupational contact dermatitis and treated by Korean medical treatment. Results : One patient recovered after 13 days of admission and total 9 months of outpatient period. Another patient recovered after 9 days of admission and total 7 months of outpatients period through Korean Medical Treatment. Conclusions : We may expect that Korean medical treatment had therapeutic effects on occupational contact dermatitis, but the additional study will be conducted for revealing the exact therapeutic effects.

이명의 침 치료에 관한 최근 임상 연구 동향

Objectives : The aim of this study is to analyze recent clinical research of the acupuncture for the treatment of tinnitus.Methods : We searched pubmed for foreign journals with the title/abstract 'tinnitus, acupuncture' published in the last 10 years, and for domestic journals we searched NDSL, RISS, KISS, The National Assembly Library, The Journal of Korean Medicine Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology and Dermatology with the same conditions as foreign journals.Results : We selected total 10 papers: 7 RCTs, 1 RCT protocol, 1 clinical trial, 1 Systematic Review. In RCT, all studies showed positive effect, however in comparison with the control groups, only 2 studies showed meaningful effects.Conclusions : Positive effect of the acupuncture on tinnitus is expected, but because of several limits observed in many papers, we can't draw defined conclusions. Further well-designed researches are needed.
