Vol.26 No.1

Drone is a small, unmanned air vehicle that shapes like a plane or helicopter. As the drone technology has developed rapidly, its usage extends from aerial photograph of mass media, to stolen vehicle tracking, narcotic investigation, search for missing in disaster area, etc. In addition, the market scale of civilian drone, 500 million USD in 2015, is expected to reach 2.2 billion USD in 2023. The interest in personal drone has increased sharply. This study aims to suggest future development direction of drone by investigating market situation, regulations of nations, development cases, etc. with regard to the drone delivery service started by Amazon. The results show that the related industry ecosystem is establishing fast and quick since the demand for drone has been realized from companies to consumers. Although the commercialization may not be easy but the introduction of the new distribution service using drones must be considered positively in order to increase delivery efficiency, speed, and customer satisfaction.

Vol.18 No.-

The people of Jeju have used baskets called ``Jokdae`` or ``Suridae`` which are made of bamboo. Among those bamboo baskets are ``Gudeok`` and "Charong``. ``Gudeok`` is also named ``Baguri`` or ``Bagumji``. The name ``Gudeok`` formed from two morphemes: ``gud`` meaning a hollow and a nominal suffix ``-eok``. ``Gudeok`` has its name because it has a hollow space for storing. The name ``Charong`` consists of ``cha`` meaning ``tea`` and ``rong`` meaning ``bamboo``. The types and names for ``Gudeok`` and ``Chanrong`` vary from region to region in Jeju. There are several names of ``Gudeok`` depending on material, size, shape, function and how to carry. Each of them has its own name. There are 83 different names for ``Gudeok`` including ``Cholgudeok``, ``Melgudeok``, ``Deulreulgudeol``, and ``Jilgudeol``, named according to how to carry. ``Charong`` is called ``Charong``, ``Goryeong``, or ``Sangji``. The baskets have different names depending on the size and function. A bamboo basket with a cover used to contain rice cake is called ``Ddeok Charong`` or ``Ddeok Goryeong``; a bamboo basket with a cover for storing boiled rice is called ``Bob Charong`` or ``Bob Chabanji``; a bamboo basket for sacrificial food offerings is called ``Jemul Charong`` or ``Jemul Sangji``. Including bamboo baskets used as a lunch box named ``Dong Goryeong``, ``Dong Gonyang``, or ``Bob Dangseok``, there are 35 names for ``Charong`` in total. This study does not make an exhaustive investigation into all the types and names of ``Gudeok`` and ``Charong`` in Jeju because the regions surveyed are limited. It also does not cover regional differences more specifically, nor does it find out cultural features, leaving a subsequent study followed.

Vol.0 No.37

This report is written to unify the name of the main character in a famous legend `SeonmundaeHalmang(GrandmotherSeonmundae)` as an effort to define the study of Jeju. The character is called in various ways such as `Seonmundae`, `Seolmundae` and `Semyungju. The names can be classified into two categories: names according to the character and the materials, silk, which the main character uses in the story. Details are tabulated as follows. I insist to use the term, `SeonmundaeHalmang`, in the way that the name `SeonmundaeHalmang` is more often found in oral tradition and is considered as an old form linguistically. In addition, linguistic relations between the names and silk, the material `SeonmundaeHalmang` used in stories, are mentioned.

Vol.26 No.-

Jeju is quickly becoming a multicultural society. As a result, some problems that marriage-based immigrants are suffering from have increased. They are mainly caused by the lack of communication. Therefore, Korean education is essential to become an actual integrated society. This study shows the current situations of Korean Education in Jeju and six ways to solve present problems of it. First, there are not enough Korean classes in Jeju for the rising number of married immigrant. 28 Korean classes 22 classes for Korean language, 4 classes for understanding Korean society and 2 classes for Jeju dialect and 84 Home visiting classes of Korean and Korean culture are held. Those classes are supported by Department of Gender, Department of Justice and others. 77.2% of them are, however, basic Korean courses so intermediate Korean courses are needed to improve communication skills. Second, only about 500 married immigrants -23.1%, out of 2,158 marriage based families are taking Korean classes. To overcome communication problems, the main source of social conflict of married immigrants, we need to provide more systematic education and more educational opportunities. It is even more important to improve Korean education because it could affect their children`s education. Third, most of marriage-based families live in rural or suburban areas. Some classes at multicultural community facilities are needed to be held in those areas to give them actual help. Fourth, Jeju dialect education and new Korean textbooks including Jeju dialect are needed for better communications at home. Five, many conflicts are caused by misunderstanding of other culture as well as language. That is why we need multicultural educations for marriage-based families and their neighbors. Six, it is important to give Korean teachers refresher training and better treatment to hold qualified Korean classes.
