        This study was conducted to identify irradiation-derived volatile components, having positive-correlation with irradiation doses, which may play roles as maker materials for detecting post-irradiation in pork meat. The volatile components of irradiated(0, 1, 3, 5 and 10 kGy doses) pork(Belly) meat was analyzed by liquid liquid continuous extraction(LLCE)/GC/MSD methods. By the results of linear regression analysis between irradiation doses and volatile component amounts in fresh pork, 3 compounds including γ-octalactone(r=0.82), 1-octen-3-ol(r=0.90) and butanoic acid(r=0.81) had high correlations with irradiation doses.

        Bacillus cereus KCTC 3674 produced at least two kinds of extracellular proteases. Two major bands of the protease activity with molecular weights of approximately 100 and 38 kDa were obtained after gelatin-SDS-PAGE. The production of extracellular proteases occurred during the logarithmic growth phase and was greatest when cultures reached the stationary growth phase. On the other hand, the growth of B. cereus KCTC 3674 and the production of its extracellular proteases were severely inhibited by the addition of protonophore carbonylcyanide m-chlorophenylhydrazone (CCCP). Thus, it was concluded that the growth of B. cereus KCTC 3674 and the production of its extracellular pretenses were strongly affected by a H+ electrochemical potential.

        Voltatile flavor components in salt-fermented Gizzard shad were analyzed by simultaneous steam distillation-solvent extraction gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. One hundred compounds were detected in sample. These compounds were composed mainly of aldehydes(15), ketones(14), alcohols(18), aromatic compounds(7), N-containing compounds(9), esters(15),S-containing compounds(8) and miscellaneous compounds(14). The alcohols were the large amounts in the number of flavor compounds detected in sample. But these compounds may not have an impact on sample flavor because of their high flavor thresholds. The flavor compounds such as aldehydes, ketones, N-containing compounds, esters and S-containing compounds were supposed to be playing a major role in salt-fermented Gizzard shad.

        Diffuse panbronchiolitis (DPB) is characterized by bronchiolitis involved in all layers of the respiratory bronchioles, which show bronchiolectasis in high resolution computed tomography (HRCT). DPB commonly develops in the 2nd-5th decade of life and are slowly progressive over months to years. A 48-year-old man was admitted because of cough, sputum, and dyspnea for 1 month. He had been treated for bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and chronic sinusitis for 1 year in our hospital. Physical examination revealed the inspiratory crackles in both lower lung fields. The chest radiography showed bronchiectasis on the left lower lung and bilateral, diffuse, small nodular shadows which were newly detected findings as compared with those 6 months ago. HRCT revealed diffuse ill-defined nodules up to 3 mm in diameter and nodular and linear opacities in both lobes and cystic bronchiectasis in the right middle lobe, left upper lobe, and left lower lobe. We diagnosed DPB developed in the patient with bronchiectasis and treated with clarithromycin. Untreated bronchiolectasis in DPB can be advanced to induce airway scarring leading to bronchiectasis. Although the causal relationship between DPB and bronchiectasis in our case, we hear report an interesting case of DPB developed in the patient with bronchiectasis.

        Predicting the Occurrence of the English Modals Can and May Using Deep Neural Networks

        Predicting the Occurrence of the English Modals Can and May Using Deep Neural Networks. Studies in Modern Grammar 96, 167-189. This paper tries to provide a computational modeling of language processing using deep neural networks. For this purpose, the corpus data in the ICE-USA was used. After all the sentences with can and may were encoded with eighteen linguistic factors, the annotated data were fed into the deep neural networks (DNN). The DNN was constructed with three layers, and each layer contained seventeen nodes. After the DNN was constructed, the learning process was performed with a training set. Then, the performance was measured with a test set. The processes were repeated one hundred times, and it was observed that the DNN had the classification accuracy of 91.5%. The results are promising in that reliable methods can be used in automatically classifying the frequently used modal auxiliary on the basis of the deep learning system.

        Feasibility of CD147 for an Eruption-Related Molecule during Rat Molar Development

        발생기 치아 이돋이는 이돋이 관련 물질의 조절 아래 이루어지며 따라서 이돋이 관련 물질의 구명은 이 분야의 연구에서 주된 과제가 되어 왔다. 발생기 이돋이 관련 물질은 치아주머니세포로부터 유리되며 뼈파괴세포의 형성과 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 이틀뼈를 포함한 주위 조직의 흡수가 이돋이경로 형성을 위하여 필수적이다. 따라서 치아주머니세포로부터 바탕질분해 관련 단백질이 분비되어 이돋이경로 형성에 관여하리라 가정된다. 또한 법랑질모세포와 상아질모세포가 이돋이 관련 물질을 분비하여 인접 조직에 영향을 미침으로써 이돋이를 도울 수 있다. 본 연구는 현재까지 치아에서 보고된 바 없는 바탕질단백질의 일종인 CD147과 바탕질분해효소의 치아 이돋이 과정에서 역할을 구명하고자 시행되었다. 출생 후 흰쥐 3, 6, 9일에서 발생기 위턱 둘째 및 셋째 어금니를 적출하여 면역조직화학염색과 RT-PCR을 이용하여 발현을 평가하였다. 발생중인 치아 상방에 출현한 뼈파괴세포는 이돋이 상태를 평가하기 위하여 조사되었다. CD147 mRNA와 mmp-2 및 mmp-9 mRNA는 발생 9일에 뿌리형성기에 있는 둘째어금니에서 모자시기에 있는 셋째어금니보다 발현양이 훨씬 많았다. 또한 mmp-2 및 mmp-9 발현은 둘째어금니 발생 3 (후기 종시기), 6 (치아머리시기), 9일(뿌리형성기)에 발생시간 의존적으로 증가되었다. 대조적으로 동일 시기에 mmp-13 mRNA 발현 변화는 관찰되지 않았다. 면역조직학적 관찰에서 CD147은 법랑질모세포와 상아질모세포 외에 치아주머니세포와 뼈파괴세포에서 강하게 발현되었다. 둘째어금니 교합면 위 이틀뼈에 출현한 뼈파괴세포 수는 뿌리형성기에서 유의하게 증가하였다. 이상의 결과로 보아 CD147은 mmp-2 및 mmp-9과 함께 치아 이돋이경로 형성에 관여할 것으로 생각된다. Understanding the genetic control of tooth eruption is one of the major issues in tooth development. Thus far, it is known that eruption-related molecules are secreted from follicular cells surrounding the germs and are related mainly to osteoclast formation. This study examined the involvement of CD147 and its downstream molecules in the eruption of rat developing molars using immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR and histomorphometry. CD147 was expressed differentially in the cap (3rd molar germs) and root formation (2nd molar germs) stages in tooth development. CD147 was localized immunohistochemically in the follicular cells and osteoclasts as well as in the ameloblasts and odontoblasts. The expression pattern of CD147 and mmps was investigated because CD147 is an mmp inducer. The expression of both mmp-2 and -9 increased at the root formation stage compared to that at the cap stage and increased in a stage dependent manner. However, the level of mmp-13 was not changed notably. The histomorphometrical study suggested that the number of osteoclasts that appeared occlusal to the molar germs for the resorption of alveolar bone increased significantly during development. These results suggest that CD147 may play an important role in the formation of the eruption pathway along with the mmps.

        Introduction:?Organophosphate (OP) poisoning is one of the commonest types of poisoning in Korea for suicidal intent.The intermediate syndrome (IMS) following (OP) poisoning described comprised characteristic symptoms and signs occurring after apparent recovery from the acute cholinergic syndrome. Case presentation:?A 58-year-old woman, went to emergency department for acute mental change. She had drunken with pesticide edifenphos. The patient presented with stuporous mental state and peripheral oxygen saturation was 85% and so she was intubated and on mechanical ventilation (MV).Her mental state alerted at 2 days after and then she weaned (MV).However consciousness was lower to semicoma and got to peripheral hypoxemia. Re-intubation and MV were introduced. Those clinical manifestations were strongly suggested of IMS because she was completely recovered from cholinergic crisis and complained of characteristic “nicotinic syndrome” appearance weakness of muscles of the neck, proximal limb and respiratory groups muscle. After 3 times of re-intubation and MV weaning totally, she was completelyrecovered and successfully weaned at 16days after admission.?Conclusions: Becauseearly recognition and appropriate therapy may lead to an improved outcome clinician should be considered IMS in OP intoxication. Herein, we report an interesting case of OPintoxication-induced IMS causing difficult weaning after apparent recovery from the acute cholinergic syndrome.

        Developing a Testing Method for Antimicrobial Efficacy on TiO₂ Photocatalytic Products

        TiO₂ photocatalyst has been known to exhibit a notable disinfecting activity against a broad spectrum of microorganisms. A lot of commercial TiO₂ photocatalyst products have been developed for antimicrobial purposes. However, a standard method has not yet been proposed for use in testing antimicrobial activity. In this study, we developed a TiO₂ photocatalytic adhesion test method with film as the standard testing method for the evaluation of antimicrobial activity. This method was devised by modifying the previous antimicrobial products test method, which has been widely used, and considering the characteristics of TiO₂ photocatalytic reaction. The apparatus for testing the antimicrobial activity was composed of a Black Light Blue (BLB) lamp as UV-A light source, a Petri dish as the cover material, and a polypropylene film as the adhesion film. The standard TiO₂ photocatalyst sample, Degussa P25 TiO₂-coated glass, could only be used once. The optimal initial concentration of the microorganism, proper light intensity, and light irradiation time were determined to be 10(6) CFU/mL, 1.0 mW/cm2, and 3 hr, respectively, for testing and evaluating antimicrobial activity on the TiO₂ surface.
