        The studies was conducted to establish the indoor overwintering methods for productive honeybee colonies in the wintering chamber which provides satisfactory inside temperature ranging 2∼9。C and ventilation for the wintering honeybee colonies in Korea. Mortality of the indoor wintered honeybee colonies was 6.3∼7.1% during the winter season of 1997-1998 and 5∼10% during the winter season 1998∼1999. The decreased rates of colony weights during the wintering season were 10.6∼10.7% in the strong colonies and 10.2∼11.7% in the weak colonies. The increased rates of colony population overwintered in the chamber were 136.1∼142.3% in the strong colonies and 128∼136.5% in the weak colonies.

        Measurement of Fiber Board Poisson's Ratio using High-Speed Digital Camera

        Purpose: The finite element method (FEM) is advantageous because it can save time and cost by reducing the number of samples and experiments in the effort to identify design factors. In computational problem-solving it is necessary that the exact material properties are input for achieving a reliable analysis. However, in the case of fiber boards, it is difficult to measure their cross-directional material properties because of their small thickness. In previous research studies, the Poisson's ratio was measured by analyzing ultrasonic wave velocities. Recently, the Poisson's ratio was measured using a high-speed digital camera. In this study, we measured the transverse strain of a fiber board and calculated its Poisson's ratio using a high-speed digital camera in order to apply these estimates to a FEM analysis of a fiber board, a corrugated board, and a corrugated box. Methods: Three different fiber board samples were used in a uniaxial tensile test. The longitudinal strain was measured using the Universal Testing Machine. The transverse strain was measured using an image processing method. To calculate the transverse strain, we acquired images of the fiber board before the test onset and before the fracture occurred. Acquired images were processed using the image processing program MATLAB. After the images were converted from color to binary, we calculated the width of the fiber board. Results: The calculated Poisson's ratio ranged between 0.2968-0.4425 (Machine direction, MD) and 0.1619-0.1751 (Cross machine direction, CD). Conclusions: This study demonstrates that measurement of the transverse properties of a fiber board is possible using image processing methods. Correspondingly, these processing methods could be used to measure material properties that are difficult to measure using conventional measuring methodologies that employ strain gauge extensometers.

        후두개와 외상에 대한 임상적 관찰

        Posterior fossa injury is a relatively infrequent in all craniocerebral injuries, which may be a rapidly fatal disease unless the diagnosis and prompt treatment are made. Delay in operation or failure to make the diagnosis early may result in death from medullary decompensation. An injury to the occipital region, followed by signs and symptoms of cerebellar or medullary nerve dysfunction, should cause one to suspect the existence of this lesion. It is well to remember that neither the surgically demonstrated presence of a supratentorial clot nor the roentgenological failure to demonstrate an occipital fracture excludes the presence of a mass lesion in the posterior fossa. Authors studied 104 cases of posterior fossa injury admitted at Department of Neurosurgery, Kyung Hee Medical Center from October 5th, 1971 to August 30th, 1974. The results were as follows: 1) The incidence of posterior fossa injury was 5. 7% of all craniocerebral injuries. 2) The age incidence was greatest in the age group between 10 and 20. 27.9% of all cases were belonged in this group. 3) Common causes were traffic accident (82 cases: 78.8%), falls from (14 cases: 13.5%) and direct blow (6 cases: 5.8%). 4) Male outnumbered female by almost 2 to 1. 5) Common symptoms were disturbance of consciousness (67 cases: 64.4%), headache (43 cases: 41.3%) and vomiting (24 cases: 21.3%). 6) Scalp injuries were demonstrated in 95 cases and occipital, bone fracture in 58 cases under gross and radiological examination of posterior fossa. 7) Time interval between injury and operation was greatest at 3 to 6 hours. 8) In 30 cases of operation, massive cerebellar contusion was 13 cases, extradural hematoma was 7 cases and subdural hematoma was 2 cases and negative exploration was 6 cases. 9) The overall mortality rate was 25%.

        하청 근로자들의 건강수준 평가

        목 적 : 하청노동을 이용한 노동 유연화 전략은 근로자들의 고용을 불안정시키고, 근로자들의 삶에 부정적 영향을 미치고 있다. 따라서 이 연구는 하청업체 근로자들의 고용현황을 조사하고, 기존의 업체중심의 건강평가의 문제점을 지적하고자 하였다. 또한 하청업체 근로자들의 건강평가의 현재적 의미와 사회적 배제의 특성을 알아보고자 하였다. 방 법 : 모기업과 하청업체 근로자들의 건강수준을 비교하기 위하여, 정기건강진단(일반, 특수)과 채용건강진단 자료를 이용하고자 하였다. 건강진단에서 누락된 비정규직을 포괄하기 위하여 SF-36을 이용하여 건강설문조사를 시행하였다.결 과 : 조선업 하청업체 근로자들의 고용기간은 짧고, 빈번한 노동이동 현상을 보였다. 3년간 건강진단 수검 현황을 통해 살펴볼 때, 1998년 수검자중 2000년까지 연속해서 검진 받은 수검자는 40.3%였다. 건강진단 결과 유소견자 규모를 통해 모기업과 하청업체간의 건강수준을 비교해 보았다. 모기업은 일반질병 요관찰자와 질병자를 포함한 유소견자가 1,011명으로 약 10 %의 유소견율을 보이고 있고, 질병자의 경우 596명으로 유병률이 5 %를 상회하고 있다. 반면 하청업체의 경우 1,967명의 수검자중 유소견자가 115명으로 6 %의 유소견율을 보이고있고, 질병자는 82명으로 4 %의 유병률을 보이고있다 채용건강진단을 받은 수검자는 6,260명 이었으며, 이 중 유소견자 수는 2,373명으로 전체 수검자의 37.9 %를 차지하였다. 건강설문지의 경우는 전체 건강수준의 총합은 하청보다 원청 근로자가 높았고 통계적으로 유의하였다. 결 론' 정기건강검진 결과는 하청근로자들이 고용형태에 따라 검진을 받지 못한 경우가 많아, 건강 근로자 효과로 표현될 가능성이 있다. 따라서 채용건강진단 결과는 다른 측면에서 하청업체 근로자들의 건강수준의 현실적 반영이라고 할 수 있다. 향후 하청업체 근로자들의 건강문제를 감시하고 개선하려면 기존의 업체 중심의 접근으로는 하청 근로자의 건강문제를 제대로 다룰 수 없고, 업종과 지역을 동시에 고려하여 접근할 필요가 있다. 또한 단기 고용 근로자 및 비정규직 근로자를 사회보장의 확충과 모기업의 연대책임 강화 및 기업복지 차원에서 포괄하는 방안이 모색되어야 하겠다. Objectives : The strategy for the labor flexibility through subcontracted labor have brought a negative effect on the lives of the workers, such as the increase of the unstable employment. This study was conducted to analyze the relationship between the employment of subcontracted firms and the health status of them, and to find out some problems which have been caused in the process of health evaluation and the characteristics of social exclusion. Methods : We reviewed the periodical health examination and preemployment health examination in order to compare health status of the subcontracted workers with those of the parent firm workers. The SF-36 questionnaire was administered to assess the self-perceived health status. Results : The result shows that compared to the working duration of the parent firm workers, those of the subcontracted workers were shorter, and the job transfer rate was higher. In the periodical health examination, the prevalence of occupational and general disease was higher in the parent firm(10%) than in the subcontracted firms(6%). Preemployment health examination plays an important role in worker's health manage- ment. Among 6,260 workers who received preemployment health examination, the prevalence of disease was 37.9%. Mean scores of health status measured by SF-36 were lower in the subcontracted firm than in the parent firm. Conclusions : Due to social exclusion of the subcontracted workers from the periodical health examination, there is a possibility that the periodical health examination have the healthy worker effect. These results suggests that the preemployment health examination could be a more appropriate indicator which is able to assess the health status of the subcontracted workers than the periodical health examination.

        경상북도 청송군과 의성군에서 관찰된 담수 돌말류 미기록종에 관한 연구

        2022년 3월부터 4월까지 대한민국 경상북도 청송군과 의성군의 5개 지역에서 자생종에 대한 조사를 실시하였다. 국내 새롭게 관찰된 돌말류는 9종으로 2강 5목, 6과 7속으로 조사되었다. 본 연구에서는 종의 명명법, 참고 문헌, 사진, 생태 및 분포에 대해서 설명을 하였다. 국내 신규 돌말류 9종은 Achnanthes pseudoinflata, Encyonema pergracile, Gomphonema affinopsis, G. germainii, G. submehleri, Hannaea inaequidentata, Halamphora bicapitata, Neidiomorpha binodiformis, Orthoseira dendroteres으로 동정되었다. 조사된 강, 하천, 호수와 연못의 조사된 지역은 종별 서식환경의 차이를 보여주었다. H. inaequidentata와 O. dendroteres은 유량이 적고, 수심이 얕은 유수역의 환경에서 관찰되었고, 다른 종들은 호수와 연못처럼 반폐쇄적인 정수역의 환경에서 확인 되었다. 새롭게 보고된 9종의 돌말류들은 알칼리성 환경에서 서식하는 것으로 조사되었다. 이 연구는 한국에 있는 돌말류의 다양성을 강조하며 이 그룹에 대한 추가 연구에 중요 할 것으로 사료된다. We conducted a survey of indigenous species at 5 sites in Cheongsong-gun and Uiseong-gun in Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea from March to April 2022. Nine species of diatoms are new to Korea and they are divided into 2 classes, 5 orders, 6 families, and 7 genera. The nomenclature, references, photographs, ecology, and distribution of the species are presented here. Nine diatom species are new to Korea, namely Achnanthes pseudoinflata, Encyonema pergracile, Gomphonema affinopsis, Gomphonema germainii, Gomphonema submehleri, Hannaea inaequidentata, Halamphora bicapitata, Neidiomorpha binodiformis, Orthoseira dendroteres, which were identified in 2022, Nine species found in river, stream, lake and pond showed species-specific habitats. H. inaequidentata and O. dendroteres were observed in low-flow, shallow stream, while other species were identified in lake and pond environments. Nine newly reported species of diatoms were investigated to live in an alkaline environment. This study highlights the diversity of diatoms in Korea, which is important for further studies on this group.

        Investigation of a Photothrombosis Inducing System for an Observation of Transient Variations in an in vivo Rat Brain

        For the spatiotemporally aligned observation of photothrombosis induction and transient variations of in vivo brain stroke, we developed a novel photothrombosis inducing system compatible to a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system using nonmagnetic stereotaxic equipment. From the spatial point of view, the system provides a more reliable level of reproducibility of the photothrombosis in each brain. From the temporal point of view, from T1- and T2-weighted in vivo MR (magnetic resonance) images, the transient variations such as incidence, location, and size of the thrombosis are measured quantitatively. In addition, the final variation is observed in the ex vivo brain by TTC (Triphenyltetrazolium chloride) staining based on histological assay and utilized for the verification of the MR images. From the experimental result of the rat brain, the proposed system shows more reliable characteristics for transient variations of brain strokes.
