      • Disambiguate Chinese Word Sense Based on Linguistics Knowledge

        Chun-Xiang Zhang,Long Deng,Xue-Yao Gao,Zhi-Mao Lu 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.7 No.6

Word sense disambiguation (WSD) is important to many application problems in natural language processing fields, such as machine translation, parsing analysis and information retrieval. In this paper, we propose a new method to determine correct sense categories of Chinese words based on linguistics knowledge. The left word string and the right word string around the ambiguous word are respectively analyzed. Their syntactic structures are obtained for determining its intended sense. Syntactic category and part of speech are extracted as disambiguation features. A naive bayesian model is used as the classifier. Experimental results showed that the accuracy rate of classification arrives at 64%. The performance of disambiguation is improved.

Protective effects of 2',4'-dihydroxy-6'-methoxy-3',5'-dimethylchalcone against hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress in hepatic L02 cell

        Lu, Yue,Zhang, Yan-Yan,Hu, Ying-Chun,Lu, Yan-Hua 대한약학회 2014 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.37 No.9

2',4'-Dihydroxy-6'-methoxy-3',5'-dimethylchalcone (DMC) is a chalcone isolated from the buds of Cleistocalyx operculatus (Roxb.) Merr. et Perry, and the hepatoprotective effects of DMC on Kunming mice have been studied in previous study. However, the effects of DMC on hepatocyte toxicity and corresponding mechanism remain unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the hepatoprotective mechanism of DMC in human hepatocytes (L02) treated with $H_2O_2$. The results demonstrated that pretreatment with DMC effectively protected $H_2O_2$-induced cell viability loss, cell membrane damage (lactate dehydrogenase, nitric oxide production and caspase-3 accumulation. Besides, DMC pretreatment increased the amount of glutathione, decreased malondialdehyde and the percentage of apoptotic L02 cells compared with only $H_2O_2$ treated group. Taken together, these results indicated that DMC had hepatoprotective effects against $H_2O_2$-induced liver injury by alleviating oxidative stress and apoptosis process in L02 cells, and DMC might be a potential candidate for the intervention of liver diseases.

Traditional Chinese medicine for COVID-19 pandemic and emerging challenges: An online cross-sectional survey in China

        Chun-Li Lu,Ruo-Xiang Zheng,Xue Xue,Xiao-Wen Zhang,Xue-Han Liu,Xin-Yan Jin,Feng-Lan Pu,Hui-Di Lan,Min Fang,Ling-Yao Kong,Merlin Willcox,Bertrand Graz,Joelle Houriet,Xiao-Yang Hu,Jian-ping Liu 한국한의학연구원 2021 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.10 No.-

Background We aimed to investigate use of infection control behaviours, preventative and therapeutic interventions, and outcomes among respondents to an online survey during the COVID-19 pandemic in China. Methods The survey was designed by an international team, translated and adapted to simplified Chinese, including 132 kinds of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) preparation recommended by guidelines. It was distributed and collected from February to May 2021, with data analysed by WPS spreadsheet and wjx.cn. Descriptive statistics were used to describe demographics and clinical characteristics, diagnosis, treatments, preventative behaviours and interventions, and their associated outcomes. Results The survey was accessed 503 times with 341 (67.8%) completions covering 23 provinces and four municipalities in China. Most (282/341, 82.7%) respondents reported no symptoms during the pandemic and the majority (290/341, 85.0%) reported having a SARS-CoV-2 PCR test at some point. Forty-five (13.2%) reported having a respiratory infection, among which 19 (42.2%) took one or more categories of modern medicine, e.g. painkillers, antibiotics; 16 (35.6%) used TCM interventions(s); while seven respondents combined TCM with modern medicine. All respondents reported using at least one behavioural or medical approach to prevention, with 22.3% taking TCM and 5.3% taking modern medicines. No respondents reported having a critical condition related to COVID-19. Conclusion We found evidence of widespread use of infection control behaviours, modern medicines and TCM for treatment and prevention of COVID-19 and other respiratory symptoms. Larger scale studies are warranted, including a more representative sample exploring TCM preparations recommended in clinical guidelines. Low-Frequency Compensation of Piezoelectric Accelerometers for Motion Control Systems

        Lu Yu-Sheng,Lu Chun-Wei 대한전기학회 2021 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.16 No.4

This paper describes how piezoelectric accelerometers can be applied to motion control systems for performance enhancements. Piezoelectric accelerometers are known for their wide frequency ranges to sense dynamic acceleration. However, they are unable to measure static and quasi-static acceleration. Since positional sensors generally exist in motion control systems, this paper presents two acceleration observers that fuse piezoelectric accelerometers and positional sensors and are able to achieve high-quality observation of acceleration, including static and quasi-static components. The proposed observers are applied to a robotic manipulator, and experimental results confi rm feasibility and eff ectiveness of the proposed acceleration observers.

Fabrication of Magnetite Nanoparticle-embedded Polystyrene Composites and Their Additive Role on the Dynamic Properties of Carbonyl Iron-based Magneto-rheological Fluids

        Chun Yan Gao,Qi Lu,Hyoung Jin Choi,Nam Hui Kim,Chun Yeol You 한국자기학회 2019 Journal of Magnetics Vol.24 No.1

Magnetic Fe₃O₄@polystyrene (PS) nanoscale composite particles were fabricated using a unique Shirasu porous-glass membrane technique and used as additives to a magnetorheological (MR) suspension with magnetic carbonyl-iron (CI) particles. The morphology of the fabricated Fe₃O₄@PS composites was characterized by transmission electron microscopy. The effects of the Fe₃O₄@PS composite particle additive on its MR behavior was examined using a rotation rheometer under an applied magnetic field. The results revealed improved MR behavior, such as higher storage and loss moduli, and elastic yield stress compared to those of the pure CIbased MR suspension under an external magnetic field.

Mechanical Performance of 3D-Printing Plastic Honeycomb Sandwich Structure

        Chun Lu,Mingxue Qi,Shafiul Islam,Ping Chen,Shuangsheng Gao,Yanrong Xu,Xiangdong Yang 한국정밀공학회 2018 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.5 No.1

In this study, Bi-Grid, Tri-Grid, Quadri-Grid and Kagome-Grid honeycombs were designed and fabricated using 3D printing technology Sandwich composites were prepared by gluing the cores and composite face sheets together. Mechanical performance of the sandwich structures were characterized using finite element analysis and three-point bending test. Results indicate that when suffering from bending loads, the stress concentrations are located at the loading zone on upper face sheets (distributed in both sides of the indenter) and supporting zone on bottom face sheets, and the stress concentration zones of the honeycomb cores are located in the area that between indenter and supports. The failure mechanism of the Bi-Grid sandwich structure is interfacial de-bonding between composite face sheet and Bi-Grid core, and the failure modes of the Tri-Grid, Quadri-Grid and Kagome-Grid are core shear. The mechanical performance of Quadri-Grid sandwich structure is better than that of the other three structures.

Relationship Between Syrinx Resolution and Cervical Sagittal Realignment Following Decompression Surgery for Chiari I Malformation Related Syringomyelia Based on Configuration Phenotypes

        Chunli Lu,Longbing Ma,Jian Guan,Zhenlei Liu,Kai Wang,Wanru Duan,Zan Chen,Hao Wu,Fengzeng Jian 대한척추신경외과학회 2022 Neurospine Vol.19 No.4

Objective: Combined with different configuration types of syringomyelia, to analyze the correlation between syrinx resolution and changes in cervical sagittal alignment following Foramen magnum and Magendie dredging (FMMD) for syringomyelia associated with Chiari I malformation (CM-I), and to further explore the respective relationship with clinical outcome. Methods: A consecutive series of 127 patients with CM-I and syringomyelia who underwent FMMD in our center met the inclusion criteria of this study. Their clinical records and radiologic data were retrospectively reviewed. The Japanese Orthopedic Association (JOA) scoring system and the Chicago Chiari Outcome Scale (CCOS) were used to evaluate the surgical efficacy. The phenotypes of syringomyelia and the clinical characteristics of the patients were analyzed according to grouping by cervical curvature at baseline. Results: The preoperative straight or kyphotic cervical alignment is more common in the moniliform syrinx. After surgery, the syrinx resolution and cervical sagittal realignment in the moniliform group are more obvious, and the corresponding prognosis is relatively better. Spearman correlation analysis showed that the ΔS/C ratio (the change ratio of syrinx/cord) was positively correlated with the CCOS (p = 0.001, r = 0.897) and ΔC2–7A (the change of lower cervical angle) (p = 0.002, r = 0.560). There was also a correlation between the ΔJOA score (the change rate of the JOA score) and ΔC2–7A (p = 0.012, r = 0.467). Conclusion: After decompression surgery, syrinx resolution may coexist with the changes in the subaxial lordosis angle, especially for syrinx in moniliform type, and the relationship between syrinx resolution and cervical sagittal realignment might be valuable for evaluating the surgical outcome.

RNAi suppression of nuclear receptor genes results in increased susceptibility to sulfoxaflor in brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens

        Lu Xu,Chun-Qing Zhao,De-Jin Xu,Guang-Chun Xu,Xiao-Long Xu,Zhao-Jun Han,Ya-Nan Zhang,Zhong-Yan Gu 한국응용곤충학회 2017 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.20 No.2

Nuclear receptors (NRs), which belong to a superfamily of ligand-dependent transcription factors, play essential roles in gene regulation to affect numerous physiological pathways. Twenty NR genes were identified in Nilaparvata lugens by using genomic, transcriptomic and GenBank databases, and categorized into NR0-NR6 subfamilies according to standard nomenclature. Among them, three NR geneswere classed into NR0, four into NR1, eight into NR2, one into NR3, one into NR4, two into NR5, and one into NR6, respectively. A phylogenetic tree of NRs from N. lugens and other representative species was constructed, which provided evolutionary insight into genetic distance. In order to investigate the NRs,whichwere induced by sulfoxaflor, time- and tissue-specific expression profiles of NR genes in fourth-instar nymphs were determined following LD50 sulfoxaflor treatment (0.28 ng/insect) and compared with control samples. NlUSP, NlE78, NlTLL, NlHR51, NlHR83, NlPNR and NlFTZ-F1 were highly expressed following 12–48 h of sulfoxaflor treatment. NlHR39 and NlDSF transcripts were detected in the head and the thorax, respectively. High-level and constitutive expression of NlHR3, NlTLL, NlHR83, NlFTZF1 and NlHR4 were found in the abdomen. Feeding of dsRNAs reduced the expression of NlHR3, NlUSP, NlTLL, NlHR83, NlPNR, NlFTZ-F1 and NlHR4 (35.48–49.77%) and caused significant nymph mortality (69.21–81.45%). These NRs, considered as insecticide targets, may play important function in sulfoxaflor detoxification.
