        Floristic characteristics of vascular plants and first distributional report of Pseudostellaria baekdusanensis M. Kim in Yongneup wetland protected area

        Yongneup wetland protected area, the only high moor in Korea, is a core area to conserve biodiversity. Even though the Yongneup wetland protected area is relatively small, various plant species are distributed in the Yongneup wetland protected area because it includes various habitats showing different environmental gradients. Vascular plants distributed in the Yongneup wetland protected area were identified as a total of 376 taxa that is composed of 73 families, 217 genera, 322 species, 3 subspecies, 44 varieties and 7 forms. For endangered plants designated by the Ministry of Environment, 5 species including Trientalis europaea var. arctica, Lilium dauricum, Halenia corniculata, Lychnis wilfordii and Menyanthes trifoliata were found and 34 taxa were confirmed to be distributed only in the mountainous wetland habitats. Regarding naturalized plants, a total of 11 taxa were distributed, but most of them were distributed in the areas where artificial interference has occurred. And in areas inside the wetlands that are relatively well preserved, 2 species of Bidens frondosa and Erigeron annuus were observed. In this study, the occurrence and distribution of Pseudostellaria baekdusanensis M. Kim, which was recently found in Mt. Baekdu and reported as a new species, were identified in the Yongneup wetland protected area. A wetland is a very vulnerable area to drastic environmental changes and damages to its ecosystem could cause the extinction of rare plant species which are distributed only in the wetlands. Therefore, it is mandatory that current status of the Yongneup wetland protected area is evaluated and actions to prevent rapid environmental changes are taken. Fourteen separate investigations were conducted in 2013 and another four in 2014, to evaluate current status of the Yongneup wetland protected area. These investigations have provided us the basic information for future actions of conservation and restoration.

        Chungnam National University (CNU) is located in Daeduk Science Town, a center of science and technology in Korea, and it is expected to play an important role in the development of science in Korea. With this in mind, the basic natural sciences at CNU should be more actively supported in both education and research. Accordingly analysis and comparison of the basic science program at major college in Korea as well as those in the USA and Europe has been performed. The current cooperative relationship between CNU and research institutes in the science town has also been analyzed. This study has resulted in propositions to make more efficient the upbringing of the basic sciences at CNU, by focusing on the following points ; a) to improve academic affairs, b) to make graduate studies substantial, c) to secure highly qualified faculty members, d) to increase cooperation in research between CNU and reserch institutes, e) to enlarge research laboratories and acquire more equipment and facilities.

      • Graphics System과 Relational Database System간의 Interface를 위한 Data Model의 설계

        Computer graphics 응용 소프트웨어는 몇가지 구성요소로 이루어진다. 그중 하나가 data modeling 요소이다. 그러나 graphics 응용에 따라 data modeling 방법이 상이하기 때문에 다른 관련된 graphics 응용의 data model과의 통합이나 데이타공유가 어렵다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 DBMS와 interactive graphics system간의 interface 모델을 제시한다. 이 interface는 complex object의 계층적 구조를 이해하고 version control을 효율적으로 지원할 수 있는 semantic data model을 핵심으로 하고 있다. 또한 interface의 개발로 graphics system을 사용하기 위한 복잡한 프로그램작업을 줄일 수 있어 사용자에게 큰 도움을 준다. Computer graphics application softwares are made up of several components. One of these is a data modeling component. This component is often application dependent and therefore difficult to integrate or to share data with the date model of other related applications. To solve this problem we propose an interface model between a DBMS and an interactive graphics system. This interface involves the semantic data model which interpretes the hierarchical structure of a complex object and supports the effective version control. The interface also provides the advantage of eliminating the need of the user to write complex programs invoking the graphics system.

        The purpose of this paper is to help coaches and instructors to improve their beginning players' athletic abilities and skills by applying mental preparation method of the sports psychology. The applied sports psychology utilizes psychological knowledge to develop, implement, and satisfy the persons concerned to the sports. The applied sports psychology includes effective improvement of sports skills, motivation to practise and endure hard drills, dealing smoothly with private matters, efforts to become a better coach, and sports psyching. The sports psyching has a variety of strategies: centering to minimize problem thought that can distract players' attention right before the game and the self-statement coping-skills, centering to decrease excessive excitement or anxiety and the self-statement coping-skills plus gradual relaxation, centering to minimize partner's psyching-out and self-statement coping-skills, recalling the best performance' to escape from the slump, setting an actual short-term goal to minimize failure or disappointment, and the coach's using check-list that helps to detect their players' sports psyching skills used. The sports psyching is a mental technology to be mastered by each individuals hard training, The beginning players can access their maximum potential through the technology acquired by sports psyching practice.

      • 가막만 패류양식장의 수질 및 저질특성

        This study was performed to characterize the seasonal fluctuation of water quality and sediment environment from April, 2001 to November, 2001 in Gamak bay. Which was a productive area, but recently its fisheries conditional have been deteriorated because of increasing waste-water from municipal area, industry and autochthonous pollution by farm industry. In the survey of seawater quality, DO and COD concentrations were lowest in bottom layer at summer, but DIN and DIP contents were higher than those in surface layer. Eutrophication indices mean that eutrophication area move from south to north entrance via northern-west inner area with seasonal change from summer to autumn. In the survey of sediment environment, ignition loss(IL), chemical oxygen demand(COD), DIN and Dip were in the range of 3.8~15.7%, 10.3~60.6mg/g-dry, 5.053~1.810mg/ℓ and 0.065~0.324mg/ℓ , respectively. COD in sediment were highest at winter and spring. And, they were higher than sediment standard in the south inner area, which mean heavily polluted conditions with organic constituents.

        The aim of this study is to report 2 cases of acute promyelocytic leukemia who died from intracranial hemorrhage following leukapheresis and to provide proper preventive measures against hemorrhage following leukapheresis. From 1994 to 1997, a total of twenty-six patients with leukemia underwent leukapheresis to control hyperleukocytosis at Ajou University Hospital. Two patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia received all-trans retinoic acid but developed drug-induced hyperleukocytosis. Shortly after leukapheresis, they died from intracranial hemorrhage. The risk factors for fatal hemorrhage are thought to be coexisting disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC), thrombocytopenia aggravated by leukapheresis, exacerbated coagulopathy related to mechanical trauma through leukapheresis and the excess use of citrate during leukapheresis. To reduce the risk of the bleeding associated with leukapheresis, it is necessary to replace platelet sufficiently before and after leukapheresis and to give calcium to correct coagulopathy induced by excess citrate which is used as anticoagulant as well as the correction of disseminated intravascular coagulation.

      • 2차원 수리 수질모델(CE-QUAL-W2)을 이용한 소양호 수온 성층현상과 홍수기 밀도류 이동 현상의 모델링

        The temporal and spatial distribution of water temperature was surveyed and simulated in a deep warm monomitic Reservoir. The great depth (maximum depth of 100 m) and wind-sheltered dendritic shape caused strong summer stratification, Turbid storm runoff during the summer monsoon formed a metalimnion of 20~40m thickness which was distinct from the clearer epilimnion and hypolimnion. The temperature distribution and the movement of density current were simulated by using the 2-dimensional hydrologic model CE-QUAL-W2. Model was calibrated with 1996 date and verified data from 1995-1999 by applying the same set of parameters and constants as in calibration. The model could simulate temperature profiles with excellent agreement. Simulation results of movement of the intermediate density current also satisfactory. It can be concluded that the CE-QUAL-W2 model is useful in the prediction of the temperature distribution and movement of density current in reservoirs, which implies merits for further employment in water quality simulation.

        VANCOMYCIN 투여에 의한 부작용 : 2예 보고

        Antibiotics are frequently administered for prophylaxis during anesthesia . Vaneomycin has increasingly become the antibiotic of choice due to the rising incidenee of resistant staphylococcal infections. Patients allergic to penicillin are candidates for vancomycin. Commonly reported adverse reactions of vancomycin include ; fever,chills, nausea, pain at the injection site, phlebitis, nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, hypotension, cardiac arrest, broncho- spasm, noncardiogenic pulmonary edema and the so-called Red-Man's syndrome or Red Neck syndrome, Recently, we encountered two patients who had adverse reactions of vancomycin perioperatively. Vancomycin induced hypotension usually results from a negstive inotropic and vasodilator effect produced by a histamine-release phenomenon, which occurs most commonly with rapid intravenous infusion of the drug. Such a release of histarnine may also produce an acute urticarial flushing of the upper torso ($quot;Red Neek syndrome$quot;), pain and muscle spasm in the chest or parasternal muscles, which may mimic myocardial infarction. These effects usually abate promptly when the infusion of vancomycin is discontinued, and their resolution may be expedited by sdministration of an inotropic agent

        ECAP 공정을 거친 1050 Al 합금 판재의 전기화학 특성에 관한 연구

        The effect of equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) pass number on the electrochemical properties of AA 1050 (UNS A91050) in 0.1M Na₂SO₄ solution containing 100 ppm chloride were investigated by electrochemical techniques (potentiodynamic test, potentiostatic test, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and surface analyses (OM, SEM, EDS). The ECAPed specimens that have a various numbers of passes from N=l to N=5 were selected for electrochemical experiments in this study. The results of potentiodynamic test indicated that the breakdown potential increased with increasing the ECAP pass number. EIS measurements also showed that the corrosion resistance of the AA 1050 increased with increasing the ECAP pass number at the passivation and breakdown states. The results of surface analyses (SEM, EDS) showed that silicon-containing impurities were observed on the surface of the alloy. It was found that the size of these Si-containing impurities decreased with increasing the ECAP pass number. The Si-containing impurities induced the microgalvanic reaction(i) between the Al matrix and the Si-containing mixed oxide and (ii) between the Al matrix and the Si-containing impurities. Due to its ultrafine-grained microstructure, ECAPed AA 1050 had smaller Si-containing impurities, and reduced microgalvanic currents. Thus, in the case of ECAPed AA 1050, it has increasing corrosion resistance with increasing ECAP pass number because of its small cathodic impurities.

      • Evaluating the Base Complexity of Planning Required in User Interface

        As modern system is getting complex, it has received a great interest to control the cognitive complexity that user feels. In this study, we evaluate the cognitive complexity of user interface by applying Yoon's Entropy Model, which models the users' knowledge into matrix form and provides the quantification method. The entropy model was applied to the knowledge about whether the operation is available to use or not. We proposes a quantitative measure - System Entropy - based on the quantified result of the entropy model, and experimentally examines the ability of the measure to predict the difficulty of learning to use interfaces. Three different interfaces in system size (the number of operations and states) or system entropy were built: low system entropy and small system size, high system entropy and small system size, and high system entropy and large system size. It was hypothesized and confirmed that the performance of low-entropy interface was superior to high-entropy interface. That is, the effect of system entropy dominated the effect of system size. The proposed measure may provide a practically useful tool to interface designers by making it possible to quickly assess the complexity of alternative interfaces.
