        Interconversion between cyclodimer and cyclotrimer: Synthesis and characterization of cyclo-[Pd(II)Cl<sub>2</sub>(N-N)] complexes

        The reaction of (COD)PdCl<SUB>2</SUB> (COD=1,5-cyclooctadiene) with (3-Py)<SUB>2</SUB>SiR<SUB>1</SUB>R<SUB>2</SUB> (3-Py=3-pyridyl; R<SUB>1</SUB>=Ph, R<SUB>2</SUB>=Ph (m-pdps); R<SUB>1</SUB>=Ph, R<SUB>2</SUB>=Me (m-pmps)) in acetone affords single crystals consisting of cyclodimers, [PdCl<SUB>2</SUB>((3-Py)<SUB>2</SUB>SiR<SUB>1</SUB>R<SUB>2</SUB>)]<SUB>2</SUB>, whereas the same reaction in a mixture of dichloromethane and ethanol yields amorphous spheres consisting of cyclotrimers, [PdCl<SUB>2</SUB>((3-Py)<SUB>2</SUB>SiR<SUB>1</SUB>R<SUB>2</SUB>)]<SUB>3</SUB>. In a boiling chloroform solution, the cyclodimers are completely converted to cyclotrimers. These cyclotrimers, in the 10-60<SUP>o</SUP>C range, are partly returned to cyclodimers. By contrast, the reaction of (COD)PdCl<SUB>2</SUB> with (3-Py)<SUB>2</SUB>SiR<SUB>1</SUB>R<SUB>2</SUB> (R<SUB>1</SUB>=Bu, R<SUB>2</SUB>=Me (m-pbms); R<SUB>1</SUB>=dodecyl, R<SUB>2</SUB>=Me (m-pddms)) yields amorphous spheres consisting of cyclotrimers irrespective of solvents. Both [PdCl<SUB>2</SUB>(m-pbms)]<SUB>3</SUB> and [PdCl<SUB>2</SUB>(m-pddms)]<SUB>3</SUB> are initially cyclotrimers in chloroform, but they exist as a mixture of cyclodimers and cyclotrimers in solution in the 10-60<SUP>o</SUP>C range. The metallacycles tend to form cyclodimers in the order m-pdps>m-pmps>m-pbms>m-pddms. The equilibrium between cyclodimers and the cyclotrimers is sensitive to solvent, temperature, and concentration as well as molecular structure.

        Effects of catalpalactone on dopamine biosynthesis and L-DOPA-induced cytotoxicity in PC12 cells

        The effects of catalpalactone on dopamine biosynthesis and L-DOPA-induced cytotoxicity in PC12 cells were investigated. Catalpalactone at 5-30μM decreased intracellular dopamine content with the IC<SUB>50</SUB> value of 22.1μM. Catalpalactone at 5-20μM, but not 30μM, did not alter cell viability. Catalpalactone at 20μM inhibited tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and aromatic-l-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) activities. Catalpalactone also decreased cyclic AMP levels and inhibited TH phosphorylation. In addition, catalpalactone at 20μM reduced the increases in dopamine levels induced by L-DOPA (20-50μM). Catalpalactone (5-30μM) associated with L-DOPA (50-100μM) enhanced L-DOPA-induced cytotoxicity at 48h, which was prevented by N-acetyl-l-cysteine. These results suggest that catalpalactone inhibited dopamine biosynthesis by reducing TH and AADC activities and enhanced L-DOPA-induced cytotoxiciy in PC12 cells.

        Injection molding of a nanostructured plate and measurement of its surface properties

        This paper highlights recent research on the injection molding of a surface nanostructured substrate with super-hydrophobicity or dry adhesiveness. An anodic aluminum oxidation (AAO) membrane or layer on an Si wafer is used as a molding master for surface nanostructures. The AAO membrane or layer has closely packed nanoholes; depending on the AAO membrane used, the nanoholes have a diameter of around 200nm and a depth that varies from a few hundred nanometers to 60μm. This AAO master is installed directly in the injection molding tool, or the AAO holes are replicated on the nickel stamper by an electroforming process and installed in the injection molding tool. Either a high temperature (>T<SUB>g</SUB> of the molding material) mold or a rapid heating (up to 200<SUP>o</SUP>C) and cooling (<70<SUP>o</SUP>C) mold is used to fill the high aspect ratio nanoholes with thermoplastic melt for the injection molding. These high aspect ratio nanoholes are extremely difficult to fill with melt in a conventional injection molding process. This paper proposes a new simple and efficient rapid heating and cooling method that heats the stamper by means of the electrical resistance of the stamper itself. Depending on the aspect ratio of the structures and the type of master, a chemical etching or mechanical ejecting process is used to release the molded surface nanostructures. With the use of an AAO membrane and a high temperature mold, some polypropylene disks with a nanohairy surface and some polycarbonate plates with a nanopillar on the surface are injection molded at several different mold temperatures for the purpose of studying the replication of the surface nanostructures. In addition, the contact angle of the water and the adhesion force on the molded surfaces are measured to investigate the effect of the surface nanostructures on the hydrophobicity or dry adhesiveness.

      • 중년층의 비처방약품 오남용 실태 연구

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to grasp the status of abusing Over The Counter Drug (OTC Drug) among the middle-aged. Methods: The participants of this study consisted of 175 middle-aged people in Seoul and Gyeoggi-do. Data were collected using a questionnaire, and the study was conducted from September 10 to October 10, 2013. The data were analyzed by t-test, chi-square test, one-way ANOVA and Turkey. Results : As a result, 97 participants(55.4%) out of 175 participants of this study had taken over the counter drug within the past one year. Their average score of abusive behavior of OTC drug was 6.96±3.01 out of 16. There was significant abusive behavior of OTC drug relative to the difference in family monthly income.(F=3.455, p=0.20) and there was significant difference depending on the information source of the OTC Drug.(F=2.56, p=.044) Conclusions : In conclusion, nurses should educate middle-aged people so that they can use over the counter drug more safely and accurately based on these results. In addition, these results will be useful in further studies regarding middle-aged people’s drug abuse according to the preceding data.

      • 간호대학생의 이론・실습 성적과 임상수행능력의 관련성 : 성인간호학 교과목을 중심으로

        Purpose: This study aimed to explore the relationship among score of theory course, score of practicum course and clinical practice ability by the course, Adult Health Nursing. Methods: A descriptive research was conducted using questionaries. Data were collected from September 25 to October 2, 2019. Participants were 67 nursing students at one university in Seoul on their junior year who have experienced clinical settings. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Cohen’s Kappa, and Scheffe’s test using SPSS 25.0 version program. Results: Participants were given a quartile number from 1 to 4 respectively according to their scores of theory course those of practicum course. The total mean score of clinical practice ability was 3.61, with a perfect score of 5. The scores of theory course and practicum course showed slight correlation(Cohen’s Kappa=.168). However, significant correlation did not existed among score of theory course, score of practicum course and clinical practice ability. Conclusion: The result showed that score of theory course, score of practicum course and clinical practice ability have no significant correlation. However, its finding suggests the necessity of further research about various approach and new evaluation methods needed in order to improve nursing students’ competency.

      • 미국 의학드라마에 나타난 간호이미지와 역할수행 연구

        We tried to inquire the people's views on nursing or nurses, correct the image of nurse and take it as a basis to be applied on nursing education examining the image of nursing on Television drama playing a important role of mass media. 523 nurses of the characters in drama is applied to the analysis object of this study by selecting 3 American medical dramas, Grey's Anatomy, House M.D, E.R from 2005 to 2007. Contents analysis method was used in Data Analysis, which was used in Lim Mi-lim ?Research on contents analysis on image of nursing on television drama?, 7 Items was used after Coders previously modify and compensate it based on research documents of Kalish & Kalisch(1986), Yoon Young(1983), Lee Hye-Ok(1982), Lee Young-Bok, etc in analysis items. Before making the coding, we did pre-test. 6 Coders made of 3teams, 2 Coders are in each team, made the Codings the article on each person by Item seeing the recorded Film. An each team makes coding about 50episodes, total 147episodes for 2weeks. We used double coding and when the results are different between two coders, we decided just one result through mutual agreement. The average of reliability degree was 97.4% which measured the reliability degree by the method of Holsti. The statistic method of Frequency, Percentage was used using EXCEL Program in data processing. The result of research is as follows. 1. The general feature of nurses on the drama is that they are women(92.7%) which is 20 or 30-aged(70.5%). 2. Relative importance of 65.2% nurses in drama is depicted as surrounding characters and most of them was expressed as the character plating surrounding role. 3. The affair attitude of nurses shown on drama is revealed as active(24.5%), autonomous(32%), kind(16.8%), mechanical(23.2%) and adept(28.4%). However, unknown category is the highest in all affairs. 4. The professional activity of nurses was classified with professional/simple affair, The professional activity of nurses was 80% and simple activity of nurses was 22.9%. The professional activity of nurses was classified with personal/assistant affair. The personal activity of nurses was 61.9% and assistant activity of nurses was 15.1%. 5. The place nurses of the drama appears are hospital(97.7%). 6. The appearance feature of nurses is shown on common physique (55.0%), common stature(79.3%), common appearance(76.1%), common dignity(97.5%) and decent (51.1%). 7. The feature of character of nurses depicted on Television drama is neutral in all 11 affairs. We want the following epigraph based on above conclusion. 1. The continuos research intended for mass people is required about how their image of nurse is changed after watching medical drama. 2. The research to construct monitoring mass media system and make plans for developing is required for nurse image being in a triangular position as a professional job.

      • Effects of the support-layer hydrophilicity on the active-layer formation of composite membranes

        <P>To understand the effects of the hydrophilicity of the support layer on the formation of the active layer and the performance of composite membranes, a support layer was prepared from a polysulfone (PSf) blend with a hydrophilic copolymer, and then its top surface was overcoated with an active layer fabricated by an interfacial reaction of m-phenylenediamine (MPDA) with trimesoyl chloride. The time required for impregnating the support layer with an aqueous solution containing MPDA was gradually decreased by increases in the hydrophilicity of the support layer. The required soaking time was greater than 9 min for the formation of the defect-free active layer when the support layer prepared from PSf was used, whereas it could be reduced about 1 min by the use of the hydrophilic support layer. Furthermore, composite membranes prepared with the PSf/hydrophilic copolymer blend as the support layer always exhibited higher salt rejection and water permeability than those prepared with PSf as the support layer. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
