Real-Time Apartment Building Detection and Tracking with AdaBoost Procedure and Motion-Adjusted Tracker

        Yi Hu,Dae Sik Jang,Chang Woo Lee,Jeong Ho Park,Seong Ik Cho 한국전자통신연구원 2008 ETRI Journal Vol.30 No.2

In this letter, we propose a novel approach to detecting and tracking apartment buildings for the development of a video-based navigation system that provides augmented reality representation of guidance information on live video sequences. For this, we propose a building detector and tracker. The detector is based on the AdaBoost classifier followed by hierarchical clustering. The classifier uses modified Haar-like features as the primitives. The tracker is a motion-adjusted tracker based on pyramid implementation of the Lukas-Kanade tracker, which periodically confirms and consistently adjusts the tracking region. Experiments show that the proposed approach yields robust and reliable results and is far superior to conventional approaches.

Mechanism and Experimental Investigation of Ultra High Pressure Water Jet on Rubber Cutting

Yi Hu,Yong Kang,Xiao-Chuan Wang,Xiao-Hong Li,Xinping LONG,Guang-Yao Zhai,Man Huang 한국정밀공학회 2014 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol. No.

The recycle and reuse of rubber materials has become a global environment problem with the fast increasing amount of waste rubber. Compared to traditional recycle methods, ultra high pressure water jet, as a fast developing tool of cool cutting, can be used inrecycling rubber materials without damaging the internal organization structure of materials. This paper investigates ultra highpressure jet cutting rubber in mechanism and experiment. Different from metallic materials and brittle materials, rubber materialsare cut by the force of shear and tensile under the impinging of ultra high pressure water jet and the erosion of high speed waterflow with rubber powder. The overall structure of kerf is Y shape. The upper section of Y shape is caused by shear, the middle sectionis resulted from both shear and tensile, and the bottom section is a result of the erosion and the tensile. The results of experimentshow: (1) a significant linear correlation between cutting depth and pump pressure;(2) 2.0 mm/s is the optimal transverse velocityunder the current experiment condition;(3) the cutting depth has a decreasing tendency with the stand-off distance increased. It canbe concluded from orthogonal analysis that pump pressure has a signification effect on cutting depth, nozzle transverse velocity isnot remarkable, and the effect of stand-off distance is not obvious.

Knockdown of LncRNA H19 Relieves LPS-Induced Damage by Modulating miR-130a in Osteoarthritis

        Yi Hu,Sukai Li,Yonggen Zou 연세대학교의과대학 2019 Yonsei medical journal Vol.60 No.4

Purpose: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a commonly occurring illness without a definitive cure, at present. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs)have been widely confirmed to be involved in the modulation of OA progression. This study aimed to investigate the roleand mechanism of lncRNA H19 in OA. Materials and Methods: Abundances of H19 and microRNA-130a (miR-130a) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated C28/I2 cellswere measured by reverse-transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). CCK-8 and flow cytometry analyses were carried out to assesscell viability and apoptosis. Starbase online software was used to predict the putative binding sites between H19 and miR-130a. Luciferase reporter, RNA pull down, and RT-qPCR were performed to analyze the true interaction between H19 and miR-130a. Results: A notably dose-dependent elevation of H19 levels was observed in LPS-treated C28/I2 cells. Knockdown of H19 amelioratedthe injury of LPS-induced C28/I2 cells, reflected by induced viability, decreased apoptosis, and reduced inflammatory factorsecretions. Moreover, H19 negatively regulated the expression of miR-130a via acting as a molecular sponge for miR-130a. Thestimulatory effects of H19 on cell damage were abolished following the restoration of miR-130a. Conclusion: LncRNA H19 aggravated the injury of LPS-induced C28/I2 cells by sponging miR-130a, hinting a novel regulatorymechanism and a potential therapeutic target for OA.

ON THE COMPLEX VARIABILITY OF THE SUPERORBITAL MODULATION PERIOD OF LMC X-4

        HU, CHIN-PING,LIN, CHING-PING,CHOU, YI,YANG, TING-CHANG,SU, YI-HAO,HSIEH, HUNG-EN,CHUANG, PO-SHENG,LIAO, NAI-HUI The Korean Astronomical Society 2015 天文學論叢 Vol.30 No.2

LMC X-4 is an eclipsing high-mass X-ray binary exhibiting a superorbital modulation with a period of ~ 30:5 days. We present a detailed study of the variations of the superorbital modulation period with a time baseline of ~ 18 years. The period determined in the light curve collected by the Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image (MAXI) significantly deviates from that observed by the All Sky Monitor (ASM) onboard the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE). Using the data collected by RXTE/ASM, MAXI, and the Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) onboard Swift, we found a significant period derivative, $\dot{P}=(2.08{\pm}0.12){\times}10^{-5}$. Furthermore, the O{C residual shows complex short-term variations indicating that the superorbital modulation of LMC X-4 exhibits complicated unstable behaviors. In addition, we used archive data collected by the Proportional Counter Array (PCA) on RXTE to estimate the orbital and spin parameters. The detected pulse frequencies obtained in small time segments were fitted with a circular orbital Doppler shift model. In addition to orbital parameters and spin frequency for each observation, we found a spin frequency derivative of $\dot{v}=(6.482{\pm}0.011){\times}10^{-13}Hz{\cdot}s^{-1}$. More precise orbital and spin parameters will be evaluated by the pulse arrival time delay technique in the future.

      • Expression and Significance of TSGF, CEA and AFP in Patients Before and after Radical Surgery for Colon Cancer

        Hu, Yi,Wang, Jing-Liang,Tao, Hai-Tao,Wu, Bai-Shou,Sun, Jin,Cheng, Yao,Dong, Wei-Wei,Li, Rui-Xin Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.6

Objective: To explore the expression and significance of tumor specific growth factor (TSGF), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and alpha fetoprotein (AFP) in cancer tissue and serum of patients with colon cancer. Materials and Methods: Radical surgery for colon cancer was performed on 43 patients with laparoscopu under conditions of general anesthesia. The Elisa method was used to detect the levels of serum TSGF, CEA and AFP before and after radical operation, and cancer tissue underwent TSGF, CEA and AFP immunohistochemistry staining after laparoscopic surgery. The decreased conditions of serum TSGF, CEA and AFP in patients with colon cancer at different levels of differentiation and clinical stagings were analyzed, and the relationships of expression rates between histological types, colon cancer morphology, lymph node metastasis and TSGF, CEA as well as AFP in cancer tissue were assessed. Results: Compared with before radical surgery, the levels of serum TSGF, CEA and AFP decreased notably in patients after operations (p<0.01). The decreased degree of TSGF and CEA was the largest in patients with poorly differentiated cancer tissue (p<0.01), while that of AFP was noted in patients with moderately differentiated cancer tissue (p<0.01). The decreased degree of TSGF and AFP was the largest in patients at phase Dukes A (p<0.01), while that of CEA in patients at phase Dukes C (p<0.01). There were no significant differences among the positive expression rates of TSGF, CEA and AFP with different histological types and colon cancer morphologies (p>0.05). The positive expression rates of TSGF and CEA in patients with lymph node metastasis were significantly higher than those without lymph node metastasis (p<0.01). Conclusions: TSGF, CEA and AFP can be used to evaluate the effect of radical operation for colon cancer, and the changed levels of different markers are associated with tumor differentiation, clinical stating and presence or absence of lymph node metastasis.

      • Genetic Polymorphisms of Glutathione S-transferase M1 and Prostate Cancer Risk in Asians: A Meta-analysis of 18 Studies

        Hu, Zheng-Hui,Lin, Yi-Wei,Xu, Xin,Chen, Hong,Mao, Ye-Qing,Wu, Jian,Zhu, Yi,Xu, Xiang-Lai,Xie, Li-Ping Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.1

Background: Many studies have investigated associations between the glutathione S-transferase M1 (GSTM1) null polymorphism and risk of prostate cancer, but the impact of GSTM1 in people who live in Asian countries is still unclear owing to inconsistencies across results. Methods: We searched the PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Ovid and CNKI databases for studies of associations between the GSTM1 null genotype and risk of prostate cancer in people who live in Asian countries, and estimated summary odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs). Results: A total of 18 case-control studies with 2,172 cases and 3,258 controls were included in this meta-analysis, which showed the GSTM1 null genotype to be significantly associated with increased risk of prostate cancer in people who live in Asian countries (random-effects OR=1.74, 95% CI1.44-2.09, P<0.001). Similar results were found in East Asians (OR=1.41; 95% CI: 1.12-1.78; P=0.004) and Caucasians in Asia (OR=2.19; 95% CI: 1.85-2.60; P<0.001). No evidence of publication bias was observed. Conclusions: This meta-analysis of available data suggested that the GSTM1 null genotype does contribute to increased risk of prostate cancer in people who live in Asian countries.

      • Vision based place recognition using Bayesian inference with feedback of image retrieval

        ( Hu Yi ),( Chang Woo Lee ) 한국정보처리학회 2006 한국정보처리학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.13 No.2

In this paper we present a vision based place recognition method which uses Bayesian method with feed back of image retrieval. Both Bayesian method and image retrieval method are based on interest features that are invariant to many image transformations. The interest features are detected using Harris-Laplacian detector and then descriptors are generated from the image patches centered at the features’ position in the same manner of SIFT. The Bayesian method contains two stages: learning and recognition. The image retrieval result is fed back to the Bayesian recognition to achieve robust and confidence. The experimental results show the effectiveness of our method.

RhoGDI2 induced malignant phenotypes of pancreatic cancer cells via regulating Snail expression

        Yi Bin,Hu You,Zhu Dongming,Yao Jun,Zhou Jian,Zhang Yi,He Zhilong,Zhang Lifeng,Zhang Zixiang,Yang Jian,Tang Yuchen,Huang Yujie,Li Dechun,Liu Qiuhua 한국유전학회 2022 Genes & Genomics Vol.44 No.5

Background: Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor 2 (RhoGDI2) has been shown to contribute to the aggressive phenotypes of human cancers, such as tumor metastasis and chemoresistance. Objective: This study aimed to assess the effects of RhoGDI2 on tumor progression and chemoresistance in pancreatic cancer cells. Methods: The expression of RhoGDI2 in pancreatic cancer cells was detected by Western blot analysis. Gain-of-function and loss-of-function approaches were done to examine the malignant phenotypes of the RhoGDI2-expressing or RhoGDI2-depleting cells. The correlation between RhoGDI2 and Snail was also analyzed. Results: Differential expression of RhoGDI2 protein in pancreatic cancer cell lines was identified. Gain-of-function and loss-of-function experiments showed that RhoGDI2 induced the malignant phenotypes of pancreatic cancer cells, including proliferation, migration, invasion, and gemcitabine (GEM) chemoresistance. The upregulation of RhoGDI2 stimulated the expression of Snail, resulting in the altered expression of epithelial marker E-cadherin and mesenchymal marker Vimentin, which were characteristics of the tumorigenic activity of epithelial-mesenchymal transition. The expression of RhoGDI2 and Snail was upregulated in clinical tumor samples, and higher expression of RhoGDI2 or Snail was significantly associated with poor patient survival in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Conclusion: The findings indicated that RhoGDI2 promoted GEM resistance and tumor progression in pancreatic cancer and that RhoGDI2 might be a potential therapeutic target in patients with PDAC.
