        The Effects of Image Dehazing Methods Using Dehazing Contrast-Enhancement Filters on Image Compression

        To obtain well-dehazed images at the receiver while sustaining low bit rates in the transmission pipeline, this paper investigates the effects of image dehazing methods using dehazing contrast-enhancement filters on image compression for surveillance systems. At first, this paper proposes a novel image dehazing method by using a new method of calculating the transmission function―namely, the direct denoising method. Next, we deduce the dehazing effects of the direct denoising method and image dehazing method based on dark channel prior (DCP) on image compression in terms of ringing artifacts and blocking artifacts. It can be concluded that the direct denoising method performs better than the DCP method for decompressed (reconstructed) images. We also improve the direct denoising method to obtain more desirable dehazed images with higher contrast, using the saliency map as the guidance image to modify the transmission function. Finally, we adjust the parameters of dehazing contrast-enhancement filters to obtain a corresponding composite peak signal-to-noise ratio (CPSNR) and blind image quality assessment (BIQA) of the decompressed images. Experimental results show that different filters have different effects on image compression. Moreover, our proposed dehazing method can strike a balance between image dehazing and image compression.

        Ore geology, and H, O, S, Pb, Ar isotopic constraints on the genesis of the Lengshuibeigou Pb-Zn-Ag deposit, China

        The Lengshuibeigou Pb-Zn-Ag deposit is located in the Qinling superlarge metallogenic belt, China. The Pb-Zn-Ag orebodies are hosted in the Proterozoic Luanchuan Group. The ore types are hydrothermal veins and skarns type. The ore-forming process can be divided into three stages: (1) quartz-pyrite; (2) quartz-sulphide; and (3) quartz-carbonate. This paper used stable and radiogenic isotopes to study the characteristics of the Lengshuibeigou Pb-Zn-Ag deposit. The temperature and salinity of fluids tend to decrease from the early skarn and quartz- pyrite stages to the late quartz-carbonate stage. The ranges of 18OH2O (SMOW) and DH2O (SMOW) values of the ore-forming fluids range from –0.03 to +4.97‰ and from –83.00 to –72.00‰, respectively. The 34SV-CDT values of pyrite, sphalerite and galena from the skarn-type and hydrothermal-type vein ores range from +0.34 to +5.88‰, which is similar to those of porphyry-type Mo-W deposits in the area, but is different from those in the strata. The sulphur in both types of ores may have been derived from magmatic sources. The ranges of 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb and 208Pb/204Pb ratios in the sulphide ores are 17.457–17.765, 15.423–15.606 and 37.712–39.012, respectively, which are comparable with those of feldspars in porphyry granites in the Nannihu ore field and less radiogenic than those in the host strata. These new data support the likelihood that the fluids and metals associated with Lengshuibeigou Pb-Zn-Ag deposit were carried by the porphyry magmatic system. The 40Ar/39Ar plateau age of 137.9 ± 0.4 Ma age obtained from the Lengshuibeigou Pb-Zn-Ag deposit is likely its mineralization age. This paper is useful not only for interpretation of the genesis of the magmatic-hydrothermal deposits but also significant for mineral exploration in the area especially for finding large deposits in large magmatic districts where various types of base metal deposits might occur.

        Adsorption and recycling of Cd(II) from wastewater using straw cellulose hydrogel beads

        Environment-friendly straw cellulose hydrogel beads (SCHBs) were applied for Cd(II) recovery andrecycling from solution. The SCHBs presented good adsorption capacity for Cd(II) of 95.62 mg/g at 313.5 K. These Cd(II) loaded SCHBs were recycled for CdS in-situ synthesis and employed as photocatalyst in thedegradation of methylene blue under visible light irradiation. Both TEM and SEM images confirmed thatthe recycled CdS nanoparticles within SCHBs are smaller than 20 nm in size, and XRD patterns wereconsistent with the metallic crystallinity of CdS. The recycled SCHBs-CdS composites exhibited excellentphotocatalytic degradation ability and reusability.

        SORTING SEMICONDUCTING SINGLE-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBES AND USING THEM AS RANDOM NETWORK OF FIELD-EFFECT TRANSISTORS

        Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with incovalently attached iodine, were obtained byphysical absorption. The di®erent diameter sizes of SWCNTs, with di®erent numbers of iodinemolecule, enhance the density contrast between them which becomes evident in density gradientultracentrifugation (DGU) targeted to sort certain species of SWCNTs. The results of opticalabsorbance and photoluminescence emission showed that iodine-assisted DGU preferentiallyseparates semiconducting nanotubes with certain diameters [(6, 5), (7, 5), (8, 4), and (7, 6)].Wehave applied these semiconducting, species enriched SWCNTs to prepare solution-processed ¯elde®ect transistor (FET) devices with random nanotube network active channels. The devicesexhibit stable p-type semiconductor behavior in air with very promising characteristics. The on-o® current ratio reaches up to 2 ? 10 4 within a narrow window of voltage ( ? 10 V to 10 V), andestimated hole mobility of 21.7 cm2V? 1 s? 1 .

        Conjugated Polymer-Controlled Selective Dispersion of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes and Fabrication of Network Transistors

        A family of polymers based on fluorene including homopolymers, alternating copolymers and two fourarmed polymers are synthesized by polycondensation. Their ability to selectively wrap specific (n, m) species using HiPco single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) as a raw material is investigated. Fluorescence, absorption and Raman spectroscopies are used to analyze SWNT species after addition to polymer suspensions. The results show separation of (n, m) SWNTs can be realized using an optimized polymer structure. The optimized polymer contains fluorene in the main chain to preferentially separate semiconducting nanotube species and hydrofluoric acid (HF)-degradable disilane groups so that it can be removed from the SWNTs after separation. We used the enriched SWNTs to prepare a solution-processed field-effect transistor with a random nanotube network in the active channel to demonstrate the selectivity of the polymer for (n, m) SWNTs. The device exhibits stable p-type semiconductor behavior in air with an on/off current ratio of 121 and hole mobility of 3.2 cm2V-1s-1.

        AEG-1 aggravates inflammation via promoting NALP3 inflammasome formation in murine endometriosis lesions

        Endometriosis (EMs) is one of the most common gynaecological diseases in women of childbearing age. Astrocyte elevated gene-1 (AEG-1) is associated with the invasion, migration, apoptosis and prognosis of various cancers. However, the roles of AEG-1 in EMs and its corresponding molecular mechanism are still unknown. In this study, animal models of EMs were established and mice were divided into two groups (n = 10): Sham group and EMs group. The EMs cells were isolated from EMs model. The AEG-1 gene was knocked down by shRNA, while the SOCS1 gene was knocked down by siRNA. Histological changes, AEG-1 expression in tissues and inflammatory factors level were detected by H&E staining, immunohistochemistry and ELISA, respectively. RTqPCR and western blotting were used to determine the expression level of related proteins. The present study found AEG-1 was up-regulated in the EMs model. Enhanced AEG-1 promoted inflammatory cell infiltration, and elevated the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α in EM group (p < 0.05). Besides, AEG-1 overexpression promoted the expression of NALP3, ASC and Cleavedcaspase- 1, while decreased SOCS1 level (p < 0.05). Decrease of SOCS1 further promoted the formation of NALP3 inflammasome. The inhibitory effect of AEG-1 on SOCS1 was weakened after the addition of MG-132 (p < 0.01). Furthermore, silencing AEG-1 alone increased SOCS1 level, decreased the levels of inflammatory cytokines, thereby inhibited the formation of NALP3 inflammasome. All these results demonstrated that AEG-1 aggravated inflammation via promoting NALP3 inflammasome formation in murine endometriosis lesions.
