A Robust Method for Text Detection in Video
Viet-Cuong Dinh,전승수,류한진,설상훈 한국정보과학회 2007 한국정보과학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.34 No.1C
This paper proposes an effective method for text detection in video. First, we apply an edge detection method to the video frame with a relative low threshold to keep all possible text edge pixels. Second, a multi-frame integration method is applied to significantly remove background pixels which are not stationary in a specific period. Finally, text regions are extracted by using the coarse to fine projection method. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

D-alpha tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (TPGS), Tween 80, Cremophor EL, and 2-hydroxypropyl- β-cyclodextrin (HPCD) are primarily used in pharmaceutic field as surfactants and solubilizing agents. By far, no studies have reported the cytotoxicity in long time of these substances against two keratinocyte cell lines including HaCaT cells and PAM212 cells. In this work, the in vitro cytotoxicity of four above substances against these keratinocyte cell lines at 72 h was performed after determination of suitable cell viability study by investigating the relationship of the number of cells per well and absorbance against incubation time with MTT solution.

Though information exists regarding the pathogenesis of the shot-hole disease (SH) in flowering cherry (FC), there has been a lack of research focusing on SH management. Therefore, here, we investigated the inhibitory activities of antagonistic bacteria against SH pathogens both in vitro and in vivo as well as their biochemical characteristics and bioactive compounds. Two biosurfactant- producing bacterial antagonists, identified as Bacillus velezensis strains JCK-1618 and JCK-1696, exhibited the best effects against the growth of both bacterial and fungal SH pathogens in vitro through their cell-free culture filtrates (CFCFs). These two strains also strongly inhibited the growth of the pathogens via the action of their antimicrobial diffusible compounds and antimicrobial volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Crude enzymes, solvent extracts, and biosurfactants of the two strains exhibited antimicrobial activities. Liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization timeof- flight mass spectrometric analysis of the partially purified active fractions revealed that the two antagonists produced three cyclic lipopeptides, including iturin A, fengycin A, and surfactin, and a polyketide, oxydifficidin. In a detached leaf assay, pre-treatment and co-treatment of FC leaves with the CFCFs led to a large reduction in the severity of the leaf spots caused by Epicoccum tobaicum and Bukholderia contaminans, respectively. In addition, the two antagonists produced indole-3-acetic acid, siderophore, and a series of hydrolytic enzymes, along with the formation of a substantial biofilm. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the antimicrobial activities of the diffusible compounds and VOCs of B. velezensis against the SH pathogens and their efficiency in the biocontrol of SH.

D-α-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (TPGS) is a water-soluble nonionic surfactant, which is prepared from the esterification of Vitamin E succinate with polyethylene glycol 1000. Due to unique amphiphilic structure, TPGS offers many essential properties such as solubilizer, penetration enhancer, stabilizer, emulsifier, antioxidant agent and protection of drug in micelles, which can be used for permeation of drug through skin or deposition of drug in skin. Especially, the applications of TPGS for various systems such as supersaturated system, solid lipid nanoparticles, gels, microemulsions, nanoemulsions and solid dispersions will be discussed in this review.

We report the effect of temperature on the extent of graphene oxide reduction by hydrazine and the dispersibility of the resulting chemically converted graphene (CCG) in polar organic solvents. The extent of graphene oxide reduction at high temperatures was only slightly higher than at low temperatures (30-50 oC), while the dispersibility of the resulting CCG in organic solvents decreased markedly with increasing temperature. The low dispersibility of CCGs prepared at high temperatures was greatly affected by reduction and influenced by the formation of an irreversible agglomerate of CCG at high temperatures. The reduction of graphene oxide at low temperatures is necessary to prepare highly dispersible CCG in organic solvents. CCG prepared at 30 oC is dispersible in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone concentrations as high as 0.71 mg/mL. The free-standing paper made of this CCG possessed an electrical conductivity of more than 22,000 S/m, one of the highest values ever reported.

In this paper, we propose an efficient channel adaptive streaming method for robust video transmission over wireless 3G network. In the proposed method, the streaming client first estimates channel available bandwidth (ABC), and then transmits the CAB information to the streaming server. At the sender, according to the comparative quantity between the current video rate and the available bandwidth, the streaming server adaptively performs a dynamic frame skipping (DFS) method. In addition, at the receiver, the video streaming client also performs error concealment (EC) method using motion vector (MV) mapping for the skipped frames to provide robust video transmission. Experimental results show that the proposed method can provide significant improvement to video streaming performance, in terms of scalability and users-perceive video quality.

Three compounds including 7,7-bis(3-indolyl)-p-cresol (1), cyclo-(S-Pro-R-Leu) (2) and cyclo-(S-Pro-R-Val) (3) were isolated from the strain of Bacillus megaterium LC derived from the marine sponge Haliclona oculata. All the isolated compounds showed antimicrobial activity at MIC values ranging from 0.005 to 5 ?g/mL against Gram-negative bacteria Vibrio vulnificus and V. parahaemolyticus, gram-positive bacteria Bacillus cereus and Micrococcus luteus, and the dermatophyte Trichophyton mentagrophytes. The results suggested that these compounds might have potential to be developed as agents treating dermatosis and controlling vibriosis in aquaculture.
