Negatively curved carbon as the anode for lithium ion batteries

The inclusion of heptagonal, octagonal, or larger rings in an sp<SUP>2</SUP>-bonded carbon network introduces negative Gaussian curvature that can lead to a high network porosity. Here we investigated a particular negatively curved nonplanar sp<SUP>2</SUP>-carbon structure namely 688P schwarzite, with a view toward the possible use of negatively curved carbons as lithium ion battery anodes. Our first principles calculations show that the presence of pores in schwarzites can lead to three-dimensional Li ion diffusion paths with relatively small energy barriers. We calculated the binding energy of Li (which donates 1 electron to the schwarzite) in different positions in the schwarzite structure, and the open-circuit voltage (OCV) with respect to Li metal and found that this schwarzite has a positive OCV for a Li concentration as high as LiC<SUB>4</SUB>. The advantages of the particular schwarzite studied here for use as an anode are expected to be present in other sp<SUP>2</SUP>-bonded carbon networks that feature large polygonal rings.
Magnetocrystalline Anisotropy of D0<tex> $_{3}{\hbox{-Fe}}_{3}$</tex> Si From First-Principles Study

<P>First-principles calculations on the magnetocrystalline anisotropy (MCA) of Fe<SUB>3</SUB>Si have been investigated by means of the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane-wave method within general gradient approximation. Calculated MCA constants k<SUB>1</SUB> and k<SUB>2</SUB> are 0.33 and -0.17 μeV/Fe, respectively, in consistency with experiment. Easy magnetization axis along the (100) direction was found in a cubic Fe<SUB>3</SUB>Si compared to the (110) and (111) magnetization axes. We investigated the strain-dependent MCA energy under tetragonal distortion to predict magnetic easy axis when Fe<SUB>3</SUB> Si grows on a substrate. The calculated MCA energies explain quite well experimental results on Fe<SUB>3</SUB>Si systems on GaAs(001) and MgO(001). Magnetic moments, elastic constants, and magnetostriction were found to be quite consistent with experiments.</P>

The purposes of this study is to analyze the quality of government and the impact of individual characteristics on quality of life (QOL) in the local governments of Nepal and Ethiopia. Many researchers have emphasized the quality of government as a universal measure of the quality of life and have tested its effectiveness, but there are not many studies on the effects in developing countries. By testing this model in developing country cases, this study shows whether it’s still applicable in the developing world and examines what kind of local government capacities are associated with quality of life in each country context. We used the survey data already collected from 412 local residents in Nepal’s Tikapur in 2017 and 500 local residents from three Ethiopian regions in 2019. The surveys were conducted by the Institute for Poverty Alleviation and International Development under the project of ‘Capability Data Series’. Studies have shown that the quality of governance, the quality of public services, and the convenience of access to public services have a positive effect on the quality of life, and that individual freedom, health condition, and living habits affect the quality of life in terms of personal characteristics. In addition, it has been found that the impact of government quality and individual characteristics on various dimensions of quality of life varies from country to country. The result indicates that individuals living in a community whose governments is accountable, provide better public services, and ensure easy access to the public services are more satisfied and happier than those living in areas with low-quality of local government. Also, individuals living with strong and healthy social-economic-physical status and good habits enjoy a high level quality of life.
여성 요양보호사의 긍정심리자본과 성희롱 경험이 이직 의도와 결근 의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

본 연구는 여성 요양보호사의 긍정심리자본과 직장 내 성희롱 경험이 직무만족과 직무몰입을 통해 이직의도와 결근의도에 미치는 영향에 대해 실증적으로 분석하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 여성 요양보호사의 긍정심리자본이 직무만족을 높임으로써 이직의도와 결근의도를 낮추는 요인으로 적용되는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 긍정심리자본은 직무몰입에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났지만 직무몰입이 이직의도와 결근의도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 분석되어 간접적인 영향은 없었다. 긍정심리자본은 또한 이직의도와 결근의도에 직접적으로 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 여성 요양보호사의 직장 내 성희롱 경험이 결근의도를 증폭시키는 요인으로 분석되었다. 한편 직장 내 성희롱 경험은 직무만족, 직무몰입, 이직의도에 미치는 영향은 없는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 여성의 근로 비중이 높은 요양 보호 서비스에 종사하는 여성 근로자들을 대상으로 이직의도와 결근의도를 최근 전문 업무역량으로 강조되는 긍정심리자본과 직장 내 성회롱 경험을 중심으로 분석하고 직무만족과 직무몰입 등 직무태도를 통한 구조적인 관계를 규명하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
